Is the fact that NPC Paladins only get one rank of Faith and Conviction done on purpose? The developers obviously know more about the game then me. And they knew since they made the game that NPCs don't make behavior choices the PC does. So how would it be possible for an NPC to raise his/her Faith and Conviction as they don't make behavioral choices. So do you guys think it was done on purpose and intended for PC Paladins to be more powerful as they are the PC and NPC Paladins to have that one rank. I like having Pallegina in the party I just hate that what makes Paladins really damn good (Faith and Conviction) she doesn't get the full extent of. Has this been stated as a bug? or working as intended? I understand that the IEmod changes this. I have not tried IE mod myself. How is it? Is it working well with 1.06?

As a tank I actually took Zealous Endurance. Bad call? I took it on my hard run and liked the DR. Granted I am struggling (although not dyeing) in act I for precisely that reason Accuracy is super hard to come by. Understood on the Int points but with my last Paladin who had 10 int I had Liberating and it still lasted a while. Granted obviously not as long as if I had 18 int. What would be a better order with that build? Shield Bearers? I didn't go that route cause I did it last time. Kind Wayfarers just don't cut for tanks imo. You don't kill enough stuff for Strange Mercy to do much and Sword and the Shepherd AOE heals for a 5m radius and I am usually trying to heal my BACK LINE as my front liners are very tough and I only really need heals when I messed up and my back line is taking a hurting. That leaves Goldpact Knights who have a nice dps DoT and a very nice resistance to mind control again to be totally effective you would need highish Int and Bleak Walkers who have another on kill debuff and a corrode damage buff to Flames of Devotion..very meh for a tank who is not going to get that many kills. PS I do have Durance in my party for the Accuracy which is why I went Zealous Endurance. Granted that's not BETTER until he gets per encounter level 1 spells.

So for my PoTD Ironman run I am going to try to build ME. Like what my actual stats would be. I think I would make a decent tank let me know what you think. In no way is this optimized. Class: Paladin (Darcozzi Paladini) I can be very sarcastic and get passionate about things I like to do. Race: Meadow Human (I am a human and I am white dude with European decent) Background : Ixamitl Plains (very native American the Plains are and well my descendants came to the USA lol) Stats: Anything average here is a 10 below average is below 10 obviously. Might 14 (As a former military dude I can 20 pull ups easily and apparently the average 28 year old make in the US can do 8 . Con 12 (My 3 mile run is a 22 on average, I would say that's above average but not great) Dex 10 (I am not super flexible I am not a tin can either I can do toe touches dammit!) Per 15 ( My experiences in the military have definitely made me more perceptive and ya I can be paranoid) Int 10 ( I am not smart really but I am not below average either ) Res 17 (One thing I am very good at is not quitting!) This turns my Paladin into a tank...what do you guys think?

Awesome! One of the coolest things about Paladins is how tough they are regardless if they are a tank or not (more so as a tank) thanks to faith and Conviction. Not having the full effect is a downer.- 34 replies

So I love playing tanks dammit! And I can't seem to get rid of my hatchet it's the only weapon that gives deflection. I beat the game once on hard without dying and since I love playing a tank who can face tank the master below I'm making another one..playing on PoTD how necessary is that 5 deflection...

Been testing faith and Conviction and it works perfectly on my Paladin. I get the correct defensive bonuses. Are you running any mods?- 34 replies

Your Faith and Conviction issue is odd though I am trying to look into it as well.- 34 replies

Torm51 replied to Fessels's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
he must not be familiar with the enchant (can happen) they work on many different things..he also said by the proper team so its obviously not his team. but I CAN say that Outworn Buckler AND Little Savior have the HERALDRY enchant and they do the same thing. They give 5 of ALL defense to the wearer and the party. It is a unique shield enchant to both of those shields! Again HERALDRY is only on 2 shields as an enchant and they the same thing. Read the description of the shield. It states how the Darcozzi who held the shield inspired EVERYONE around her. That's that the shield does improves everyone's defense. I will PM Celliot.- 34 replies

Why is Outworn Buckler giving the entire party 5 Def a bug? Isnt that what the HERALDRY enchant does? Little Savior has the same enchant and does the same thing. I have not had your Faith and Conviction issues yet so cant help there.- 34 replies

It is useful only for tanks right now, and reflex is the least important defense thanks to the shield talent adding the shield bonus to that. Ranged users dump perception with the current system, that is counter intuitive. Someone mentioned that perception was once used to add to accuracy early in the beta period? Not sure if that is true, but if it is then this change could be a simple regression that slipped by. Once again its useful for tanks he said it was useless. Not a great state for most builds sure but for tanks it adds deflection and yes sword and shield style talent adds a bonus but the more per you have the more you will have on top of the shield talent. For most mobs that's over kill but for big hitters which is when a tank matters it is not. Although you could argue that you would have to dump 2 stats to really be that unhittable so it might not be very fun. I digress not what the threads about.

How useful is this command? I mean how much does +25 deflection do for a dpser who has around lets say 65 deflection (Random average non shield user) so now that dpser has 90 deflection...they are still going to take big hits especially in PoTD where if you don't want to be consistently hit you better be over 120 deflection (a lot more for big bosses). So that leaves you using it on the second tank (if you are the other tank or both tanks if you aren't) of the party who probably has massive deflection (140+) does he really need another +25? I can think of only one enemy in the game...The master below where a tank needs more then 150 deflection. What do you guys think of this ability?

Someone has to hold him though. If a tank doesn't engage him he will just run at whoever is ranging him and barf on them. So not everyone can stay at range BUT I do get your second point . CCing when hes going to breath is where its at and what saved me late in the fight I should of started earlier. I let the adds distract me. I DID win it just wasn't as smooth as I would have liked.

Beat the Master Below on HARD but I could use some advice as it was VERY sloppy. My crew consisted of: PC: Tank Paladin lvl 11 up to par gear for end game don't want to bore you guys. Eder: Fighter tank lvl 11 Hiravias: Druid lvl 11 Grieving Mother lvl 11 Durance lvl 11 Is there anyway to AVOID the breathe? My tank was avoiding it most of the time but its inevitable with her high accuracy that you are going to get a bad roll and get wacked with it. Its the only reason both of my tanks went down. But they had such high defenses that they were able to eat quite a few of them while the rest of the party killed adds and then Adra herself. I know petrify works but didn't figure it out until late in the fight lol I was able to burst her down that way. Also with a mental binding.

Is it a wasted talent for a tank? I had this idea for melee fontline heals with a Wayfarer and Sword and the Shepherd (tank, I know Wayfarers are better DPS support). But I figured on PoTD a tank whose melee accuracy is mediocre even with the accuracy buff to FoD might be whiffing a lot. Any experience?
