So I won but it was not smooth....My entire party was level 14 except my druid at 13. I think the fight was so sloppy because my entire team was knocked down for 15 seconds except my PC (Paladin). Is that some blast wave he does at the start of the fight? Or did everyone except my Paladin eat a Crit Clear Out from the Death Guards? I couldn't even tell why I was taking so much AOE damage. I did notice he casted Malignent Cloud...maybe that was it. I have to be honest it was looking bad and Me and Pallegina had to use Reviving Exhortation to get Hiravious and Zahua up....Basically I thought my Trial of Iron was over and Hiravious Crit with a Plague of Instects on Concelhaut. He is weak to Crush so Durance finished him with a Pillar. We then mopped up the rest.....That is by FAR the hardest fight in the game...its bad. Pics below. As you can see my party did not look good I got real tight and summoned those beetles...they died immediately...lol I also tried to cheese him with a Scroll of Paralysis...most of his adds are immune..hah. I had never seen the fight before so I was in a bit of a tight spot. https://www.dropbox.com/home/Screenshots?preview=Screenshot+2015-10-02+19.10.52.png Difficulty and Mode (no expert this time) https://www.dropbox.com/home/Screenshots?preview=Screenshot+2015-10-02+19.18.16.png

I cant seem to take this thing off and put something else in its slot. As a frontliner with my Paladin that's another +10 to Fort, Will and Reflex against spells....I mean its literally like having 3 extra talents with bears fort, bulls will and snakes reflex against spells. Is a dragons breathe considered a spell I cant remember.

Withdraw bug
Torm51 replied to Ubry's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
2.01 introduced a TON of bugs. I am sure this wasn't the priority. It still has the protection effect and you can at least heal the person without them taking damage. It isn't perfect but it still 50% works and has some of the intended effects. There were much bigger issues at large like not being able to complete soulbound quests and CORE ABILTIES like Frenzy for Barbarians, UI bugs and Lightning Storms for druids behaving very oddly and not working when selected. Liberating Exhortation was also working oddly and they fixed it same with Suppress Affliction. I am positive this one will get done. -
2nd Fight against Doemenels?

also ya that quest is suppose to trigger Pallegina. See if she is outside to the west (left) of the Valian Vendor that is outside the warehouse. -

That's odd. What patch are you playing on? I have never had something that crazy happen to me in that quest . Is it upgraded from a previous patch? are you playing on GoG? Post this issue on the bug forums. -
Odd Nua (The Descent)
Torm51 replied to Nurgles Socks's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
In groups with Druids they are extremely dangerous. Insect Swarm can ruin even a high level party if not prepared properly with a priests Suspend Affliction or a Paladins Liberating Exhortation (even though with Liberating Exhortation its like trying to put out a forest fire with a fire extinguisher it helps). or the ring that has Suppress Affliction bound to it. -
UP?? Or the priest could be casting more important things like Circle of Protection, Devotions of the Faithful, Crowns of the Faithful etc. The advantage of having the Modal already there at the start of the fight without having to do anything could be the difference between your party taking some type of debuff or hit or it saving/grazing against that debuff because your priest casted circle of protection. I am not saying you are wrong. You aren't but having a priest is not EXACTLY the same. Also the priest buffs don't give the graze to hit or enemy hits turning to graze. But I get you that the Priest can somewhat cover up those buffs if you only bring one Paladin or NONE. It still isn't exactly the same.

Ya its not bad. Although specced right Fighters can do a lot of consistent damage. One thing I forgot to mention. If you have not invested heavily in Intellect or if you do not have a melee heavy party You might want to just take Zealous Endurance as Zealous auras are too small to get your backline consistently. Unless you just want Zealous Focus for you if you are going for a pure damage build. Obviously having a high Int also makes you a better support Paladin as your Lay on Hands and Exhortations last a long time.

So update to 2.02. I have heard of your bug with a game that was updated from 2.0 to 2.01. I you want to stay on 2.01 (for whatever reason...its the most faulty patch by far) then you have to start over. Again update to 2.02 and the issue will be fixed. If its not the fix is not retroactive and you will have to restart the game anyway.

I would say this. If you run ONE Paladin Zealous Focus is generally better as accuracy does more for your party then DR. 3 DR is not going to save a light armor wearing Wizard from being knocked out it just helps your frontline. Zealous Endurance does not give you Deflection it gives you a bonus to all types of DR. If you have 2 Paladins I would say yes go with ZF and ZE but if I only had one I would go Zealous Focus. This is coming from a guy who SWORE by Zealous Endurance on his first three Paladins lol. Lastly, the Wild card Aura and what I am running right now because I have 2 Paladins is Zealous Focus and Zealous Charge. I know the DR is great and I miss it but My priests casts armor of Faith and Zealous Charge gives me flexibility to tactically move my party should I not have the positioning I want. It also lets a Cipher throw its Crushing Mental Laser (Ectoplastic something) on me and I just run to the back end of the enemy group and they all take MASSIVE crush damage and die.

Grab some hatchets as back up weapons. It aint great but the Monks abilities and high Might themselves power a lot of the damage so it still works.
-
very easy to say and yes it works but getting to that point where you can get close enough with those likely SOFT priests is an issue. Especially on PoTD. He has a lot of adds and he will dragon breath and one shot any non tank. Confuse was CLUTCH in this fight. I beat it on PoTD trial of iron(more at stake) no strat look ups on my first try ever. I wizard with confuse makes the fight easier. As it was stated it will buy you time to buff up and he will dragon breathe his friends/crush them (he was hitting his frost blights for 150 crush hits ouch) at that point I was everyone was buffed up and casters had the accuracy to debuff him and permanently cc him with prone. My melee then went town on him and that was it.
-
I also need a debuffer. A priest gets blind and knock down (but as mentioned he has to get perilously close to the dragon). But he cant Petrify or Paralyze. I find that on PoTD I need to burst down dragons while they are CCed as no matter how well you maximize your tank (especially after the PER change) your tank is just delaying the inevitable if it doesn't die quickly.

Ya the second quest locks you into a faction.
