  1. I say "wrong" simply because I don't like that Matrix-deep stuff, especially when it condemns the character forever. btw, K2 shouldn't get any votes simply because of better combat, animation and those sorts of things - it's a sequel, it's supposed to implement features and shortcuts fans have suggested.
  2. From what ended up in the final game (and in some ways even if cut-content was there) I would still find the game sort of unfulfilling. Like I said in another post, the story starts as trying to stop the Sith, but then ends up not having anything to do with the Jed Masters, or the Sith, but instead Kreia who wants to use your apparent unique force "situatation". KotOR 2's story was not weak. All the main stories were the type seen in epics, but weren't covered greatly enough, and some just became irrelevant. Like in a full LS game, you gather the masters to no avail, no epic Jedi vs Sith showdown. Sure, the fact that they don't help was a dose of unpredictability, but also felt like the whole plot just fizzled out. Also, I think people who thought KotOR 1 was too simplistic should perhaps go back and replay some of their other games and realise it's story is very good.
  3. Thanks for the heads-up for not picking that option when I play it again! (yep, I don't expect the patch for a while)
  4. I don't (want to) believe in all this Force Wound crap but the reason why Kreia leaves the Exile alive is because she thinks she can "kill" the force by using the Force Wound the Exile had.
  5. It would be a Universal power. The same way it is in the movies since it's just the use of Force Push and Force Pull using the environment. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> In Jedi Knight it's a dark-side power. It's universal in the way that it's Push/Pull but how would you distinguish it in the game. It's clearly DS if you throw stuff towards people.
  6. I think the scenario was that the Republic was in big trouble, and so on the bigger picture, Carth and Bastila made the choice that the Jedi dying here and there can't be acted on because it would risk the whole Republic. Remember the Sith were being really covert so to try and stop it would take lots and lots of resources they no longer had. Would've been nice to have them beat Sion but just wouldn't fit into the story that Obsidian set up.
  7. Yeh, they made an effort and screwed up. What makes you say KotOR didn't try - I think K2 just tried too hard.
  8. What's the issue here? The turn-based part or the fact that it's all pretty linear (you run towards each other and attack). For the 2nd part, you could just add Dodge/Evade moves column and queue that up which'll increase your defense. Just a quickie off the top my head.
  9. KotOR definitely did the whole Jedi love thing better than Episode II. Ofcourse they aren't interchangable or else the whole Vader thing wouldn't work...
  10. Great idea and should be very do-able too. If they could do Force Jump attack in KotOR then I don't see why they couldn't implement the Butterfly or the kung-fu kicks of the Saber-staff and the dual saber twirling or the thing where you Saber-throw your spare saber in a saber lock thing. (See Jedi Academy for more detail) This really depends on who you end up playing as, but assuming you don't play as Revan, I think Revan should be male because one of the major quests was the Bastila romance which was carefully written to follow similar lines to Episode 2, where as with Carth it was like Han and Leia, who didn't have any Jedi issues. It also shortens development/design times because you elimate mapping out all the different possilbilities. As long as the main player is gender choosable, it should be enough replay value.
  11. From the 3 pages I read, didn't see any links and all that people were asking for, but assuming it's all true for now (and it does seem quite believable), I look forward to the fact that it's the end rather than the new graphics, combat or anything else. I'm one of those that didn't like Obsidian's and/or LucasArts's style of story they used in KotOR 2, and this speculated Exile vs Revan is something which I admit is interesting, but in the end just warps the whole story even more from the original KotOR. I'll still get it though cos I do want to see if they do a Return of the Jedi style closing (or a Revan-to-Bastila ). I'd also rather I was Revan (but unless you do a Jedi Outcast, it'll be hard to do) or a new character...anyone but Exile - that character is just damaged goods; I don't want to play some force-bond making, force-hollow loser.
  12. It's not about technology, but the market. Star Wars real-time combat is being covered by games like Battlefront I/II and Jedi Knight series. KotOR is for people who don't want real-time combat. I do prefer First/Third-person shooters over Turn-based, but the KotOR story more than makes up for it. There are heaps of people who hate the KotOR 1 turret game because they keep losing. If you want to cut through enemies like that quickly, play some JA with it's fancy-pants (and very cool) acrobatics. I do - and I love it!
  13. If you go DS in JK or JA you still end up killing all the Sith bad guys - so I didn't find it out of the ordinary. Wouldn't K1 be doing what you want though? You become the Sith lord, take out Malak, then go against the Republic/Jedi?
  14. All those little hints (which most people wouldn't realise they were during first play) about Revan and when it all came together was much better than the whole Kreia story - I agree, just a crazy old witch.
  15. I voted for Revan, but yeh, forgot the None option
  16. if people are busy...they're busy.
  17. All that crap on stuff being not designed to run on laptops is BS. If the cards are similar enough (and with most ATI Mobility and nVidia GeForce Go's they are) it'll run. I play on a 32mb GeForce4 440 Go - crapper than the Mobility Radeon 9000. Sounds like another ATI related problem.
  18. You forgot an option for the non-console people. Simply cos the X360 has more grunt (I'm not in consoles so hopefully I haven't got it mixed up) so I voted for that for higher potential graphics and more features.
  19. Finally, a (granted, cheap) reason to pick this force power. Will the basic Saber Throw (ie, one level of it) be enough to do the job?
  20. The 1st Padawan Style option, I was thinking of something like Episode I, where you go to a planet (maybe a compulsory first planet to get them early) and along the way you meet this person who helps you and demonstrates Jedi-type skills (granted, not too sure how this would look in a game) and you "recruit" them. So no, it's not like having Atton with you for ages before you learn he plays Pazaak to block stuff. The 2nd options is more like Episode 2, where you start with a basic Padawan who is already a Jedi class. One possible idea I just thought of is maybe have the K3 training level where you're the Padawan and in that short tutorial level you determine whether you're a loser like Anakin or loyal/eager like Ep1 Obi Wan. Heh, probably made it even more confusing
  21. Just curious, has anybody played "Star Trek: Final Unity" and know what type of planet/story system I'm referring to?
  22. You go through Malachor alone - see all the threads on Cut Ending stuff in the spoiler forum to find out about this sort of stuff.
  23. Have you even finished the game once yet? A lot of story stuff you run into will be answered (any many won't...you'll see) Apparently there's a way to get *a* lightsaber from her near the end, but it's not normal (it's not a bug either). I'm not too sure because I haven't tried it. It takes ages to get a lightsaber so just keep going
  24. have you tried other pieces of software - ones that use CAB's ofcourse. That should tell you whether it's your OS or specific to these game files.
  25. Both are great, probably Movies infront since that's where it all starts from. Like for instance the Bastila romance in K1 is better than the romances in the movies, but that's only because of how Episode 2 made the big deal of it...hmm, that's just even more confusing.
