I guess the main thing which catches me by suprise here (and I'm not too sure about it anymore after reading some replies), is that whether she sold the Jedi out. Not necessarily leading the Jedi into a deathtrap ( like you said there was an apparently good chance of victory), but did she deliberately leak the information about Katarr out. There's still a chance that Nihilus managed to find out about it on his own, but ofcourse that'd be a cowards way out of this discussion. Me want more...

And tell me how K2 was any better - Goto and Mandalore were just useless, HK had absolutely no reason to be there (nevertheless he's cool), Atton got all emotional, I don't know how Visas became a Sith in the first place, Bao Dur is pretty empty, and Kreia is just a lunatic - Handmaiden is probably the only decent one where you can see any advancement. Carth and Bastila were ofcourse the romances which did open up some options (and an ability to kill Carth, granted, to no avail) and Jolee's conversations were designed to supplement the Bastila romance. Some characters like Mission may not have had any character development, but nevertheless you get involved in their problems and the idea is that if you're LS you are a true friend to your party members.

I think you've got it the wrong way around. Those character quests were good.

Pre-game: "Wow, I hope she's the Male Exiles romance party member" First appearance: "wtf! They've screwed up the model/head!" After getting 1st Master: "what...can't go back convince her to join the search (not a recuitable)" Endings: "Turns evil and turns out she's not Nihilus" "what have they done..what a waste of a perfect LS looking Jedi" Just substitute my face for that smiley!

ESB wasn't some Matrix BS like KotOR II was. (Well Matrix and KotOR II were great games, but I didn't like their general story basis)

I'm not sure if I'm remembering this properly, but when I think when I first got my saber (well, all the parts) I also got that personal crystal. Edit: Never mind, I remember where I got that thing from now.

All that stuff is for K1 vs K2 threads. As for the "rushing" part, it just occured that LucasArts wanted too much in too little time, and who knows, maybe Obsidian also bit off more than it could chew.

It was well shown that she was pretty arrogant when you first meet her, but to have Atris selling out the Jedi on Katarr is definitely much more "evil" than I originally I thought, where she just sold you out. Not to mention that it happened before she did it to you too. Doesn't Chief Wiggam wonder "why is it always the pretty ladies that are insane?" or something like that?

The main point of bringing her back is so that she becomes the person who she was originally "marketed" to be. I didn't like the way (appearance and personality) she turned out ingame, which is why I'd like to her "fixed" version in K3.

All things considered, I don't mind about the movies. Right now is the problem of movies, so really they should at least put out music and content (quest bug) fixes in first. Look, nothing is 56k friendly if it involves downloading.

ATI X300. I think you might have this common ATI problem, although I wouldn't know much about it because I'm on a nVidia. Check Catalyst version (apparently there's one which won't work, but it's not the latest) and you have to do some "Vertex" type option in the config file.

Even if they are waiting for the new consoles to take hold, they could still do some of the dev work by doing the storyboard, which for a KotOR style game is massive. Now don't get me wrong, I think LA will be too greedy or arrogant to hire 2 or 3 storywriter people. Not just storywriting, but also abstract technical work like working what global variables and stuff like. Maybe then the amount of quest bugs will virtually be zero because they've had time to consider everything.

I noticed that too - when I started getting those errors, I did a backup copy. Before you click to make the post, CTRL-A/CTRL-C select all copy your text, so if you get that message, you can check if it's there or not. If not, just paste!

That's an Intel Integrated graphics card and in the whole scope of graphics it is a piece of junk! You may have a good processor, lots of RAM and all that sort of stuff but for gaming you're gonna need a real dedicated graphics card - it doesn't have to be a GeForce 6800 or an ATI X850XT but anything is better than integrated. There's a thread somewhere here about Intel cards so if you're broke like me and can't afford a graphics card then go for a forum search.

I can understand reluctantly releasing hi-def movies (like bandwidth and stuff) but music and the rest should be released. This is a general internet question, but how come they just can't heaps of mirrors on places like FileFront, Fileplanet, and all those sorts of things. If they're really crazy on bandwidth maybe they should have like a 100mb-type music/game patch, and have the movies on say, BitTorrent. I can understand companies hating BitTorrent but really, the whole bandwidth reason is one of it's major strengths.

Sucked into the KotOR by the story right? Final Fantasy put me off RPG's for many many years until I learnt about this and decided to go for it. Glad to see that not all RPG's have you standing around to get shot... It took me like 50 hours on my first game of KotOR cos I would try to do every little quest and because I was use to Jedi Academy, I ended up running backwards and forwards finishing quests. Finishing at Level 15...suprising.

The idea is that if she was alive, it would be from her self-exile, where she would've had time to reflect on it all. If she did appear she wouldn't be like that.

This is Star Wars, where the Sith are supposed to be the bad guys...

I can't remember if it was this thread or a different one, but you can't compare K1 and K2 because they are built off different principles. K1 was a classic (fine, so it's predictable) Star Wars story about Jedi stopping the Sith (or flipped for DS) built over the theme of redemption. Why the Mandorians attacked was not important to the game, and although it did raise questions on how or when Revan was corrupted before/after the Star Forge, that too was not one of the main points. In my view, K2 (and maybe even K3) might try to make a hero of the DS Revan, trying to prepare the galaxy against the True Sith and stuff - if you want fibs like that go off and play some Tie Fighter and "help the Emperor restore piece and order throughout the galaxy". (at least the Tie Fighter opening credits were a deliberate satire)

Unless they work on a new ingame Force selection thing like 2 scroll bars or so it's just gonna get even messier. The powers themselves are pretty interesting, but do seem to veer away from what a classic Jedi will usually do.

I thought I'd make a K3 thread which didn't depend too much on the speculated main story of K3 (which btw I don't like very much). I thought Atris was under used and to be the whining execution crazy Master, especially with all the attention she got from the art and marketing, and so I think it'd be great for Atris to make another appearance in KotOR 3. Atris ofcourse is either killed by you or goes into self-Exile but as seen with Carth and Bastila, assumptions on whether you killed someone have been made before. You can assume that if you do select a Yes option she will have a better in-game look. I personally would want Atris as a party member, and depending on if she looks like the younger, more beautiful (w00t) art style then also as a love interest. In some ways that would be going back and fulfilling some of the possiblities K2 offered, although I can't think of any situations where'd she'd be relevant to the K3 story.

With the speculation that there'll be a Revan/Exile fight, thought'd be nice to see how this old thread poll results change.
