Have you ever played a FF game? They are not related, they only use similar ideas. Megaman is up to 8 and the X series is up to 8 as well FYI.

Finished Lunar 2 - Eternal Blue Complete a few days ago... Such a great game, ending left me feeling all warm and fuzzy. Still playing Persona 2... I've clocked over 50 hours and I'm barely half way through the game. Very engrossing gameplay, story and characters.

Which fantasy game doesn't have to some degree Tolkien in mind anyway? Doesn't matter, because a Bio approach of adventures, coin, grumpy dwarfes and ph4t l00t is still 1000 times better packaged than your obvious LotR - Oblivion! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've never though so, but lots of people to do... So, fair enough.

Last time I checked, Bioware was known for those kind of stories...

I thought he was pretty cool, made a much better sidekick then Carth (far more interesting backstory too).

Doubling the 'weird taste' comment. You are the first person who I have EVER heard defend the soundtrack. As for story, FFX at least had cinimatic liniarity strung togeather with cutscenes, FFX2 was an odd mishmash of sidequests with a 'main plot' that felt pretty tacked on and pointless. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes and who in their right mind wouldn't like playing a bunch of girls, changing outfits to outwit another fashiongirl and playing dressup 50 times an hour? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, I'm not saying the game is all that great. Only that it was a vast improvement over FFX in my opinion. As for the music comment, so what If I liked it? It's nice to see something other then pure symphonic tracks in an RPG.

As in FF4 JPN? I agree. It's my favorite, but I know it's only because of the nostalgia factor.

This game will be buggy... I mean, what CRPG release isn't!?
-
The story was no worse then FFXs. In fact, it gets points for atleast being somewhat original. The soundtrack was awsome too.

I did. It was very easy... compared to Ruby. It just took a very long time.

I didn't really like Squall, I thought the story was pretty good, nothing to special though (like most FF, expect a few). I actually was not a big fan of the gameplay. I hated how EXP was divided among the party members. Squall was always the strongest and always got the last hit, which gave him more EXP and made the teams incredibly uneven at times. You can't remove him either! I also hated how you used stocked magic to increase stats, it really did not encourge me to make mage-type characters, since using magic would make them weaker over time. GF system was pretty good, I just hated how they tied gameplay mechanics into that lousy plot twist towards the end (YOU know what i'm talking about). One thing I really liked was how every character had their own unique Limit break style. But that was about it as far as gameplay goes... I enjoyed the game far more then XI though, even with the iffy storyline moments.

Japanese game right?

It was an odd comment though, no one was questioning VIIIs awsomeness.

Wow, other then FFX... I actually agree with ya Volourn! Why did you stress how good FFVIII is?
-
I don't own a cube, so I don't know what you are talking about.

6 was fantastic Probably my fav <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My fav too and imo, the best in the series. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have to try that one out. Hopefully when the Revution is released, i may give it a try through its backwards compability(i refuse to use emulators). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why refuse? In any case, it's a great game. Just don't go in expecting anything but a JRPG.

Good read, can't believe I'm looking forward to a D&D game!

And the story about a futuristic soccer player saving the world is any better? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Now you're being too simplistic. Any guy saving the world-scenario is used in, let's say, atleast 90% of all RPG's <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was only being as simplistic as Setzer was when he was describing the FFX-2 plot.

Sorry, my bad, I was thinking of Unlimited SaGa. Never played Romancing. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's ok Romancing SaGa (PS2) is a remake of the original SNES Romancing SaGa An awesome game too <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was thinking of buying it, the animation style is so damn ugly though... I just don't know. I might check out the SNES version, since I believe there is a translation out now. (w00t)

I enjoyed it more then FFX. But that just makes it a decent game overall. "

I do. What gave it away?

It's better then all of them. " I've replayed the game recently (I always play it after I play a new Xenosaga game). Those areas that didn't have random encounters... I remember about one. It's safe to say, Xenogears has a random encounter battle system (a horrible battle system half the time too). Is the random encounter system that much of a turn off for you? You listed Lunar... and even though that game did have on-screen enemies... It was pretty much impossible to dodge them (by the end of the game in any case). I'm staying away from that game.

I can enjoy random-battles, but only if the battle system is interesting and unique. SMT: Nocturne/ Avatar Tuner I & II have incredibly high battle rate. It's ridiculous sometimes (especially in Nocturne). I never found myself annoyed with the battles however, simply because the Press/Turn battle system is the best turn-based battle system I've ever played. Simple, easy to learn... nearly impossible to master. It keeps the entire game(s) interesting. However, if the battle system is boring then yes, random-battles really take away from the game. Though, I've never just a quit on a game because of the battle system.

While I am hoping that this game is good, it isn't something I'm all hyped up about. And I love JRPGs, I've always prefered a good linear story over a bad story with lots of choices. It's just that the last few Final Fantasy games haven't really been all that great and I don't expect SquareEnix to go back to their old game formula.
