  1. About gas: here's a table of gas prices in California from the 70's to 01. Can't say anything about its accuracy. Taken from Califrona Energy Commision So if this is to be trusted, first off taks, it seems that gas prices vary from state to state, and, secondly, well, gas isn't cheaper now. At least not in the state of California.
  2. Point to you, but even though it could have been a praised hit, that doesn't say make it quality metal. Now, I'm not really a metal head anymore, but I would say that if anyone sets a standard for lasting quality metal, it is Slayer. Those guys have "done their thing" ever since they started. Even if a lot of it sounds the same " . Sure, their music hasn't gotten better since Reign in Blood, but they're also relatively old, considering what they play. Another good standard of quality is Zakk Wylde, with his Black Label Society, in my opinion; he actually has quite a diverse range of music behind him, from plain old rock to his Ozzy Osbourne era(for those of you that don't know, Zakk was Ozzy's guitarist since he was like 18 or somesuch, I think). There's a lot more bands that have a higher standard than Metallica, and not only metal bands, but right now I can't be arsed to list any.
  3. Metallica??!? You gotta be kidding! They only had three and a half decent albums, the rest are a complete waste of money and a disgrace to thrash metal! Just take a look at St. Anger. You call that quality? Of course, each to his own, but still, everything they made after and justice for all isn't even remotely comparable to the Kill em all to master of puppets era...
  4. @NeverwinterKnight Not really arguing, though if I'd have to choose a side, well, yours. As for my comment, I wasn't trying to be offensive in any way. It's just that most people I've tried to discuss economy with don't really think about rates of inflation, changes of rates of inflation, exchange rates, and other economic crap, so just asking
  5. really? wow, i should gas up where you live then. because where i live not even ten years ago i could gas up my pos car for about $15 to $20. now its well over $30 and closing in on $40 for a fill up. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Did you take into account the change of value of currency due to inflation? I think almost all currencies have grown weaker relative to a decade or two ago.
  6. I don't think NFL or ESPN would have signed a conract without any specific requirements or conditions. So, theoretically, if the loss of money for ESPN and NFL is something that will only be tolerated to a certain extent, and that point is brought up in the contract/license, then they could break the contract. I think. I'm not that great at legal complexities...taks, say something. You know your ****
  7. A defensive maneuver, maybe, depends on the situation. If you're going at a guy and you backpedal to avoid getting hit, I wouldn't classify it as defensive. If you are on the defensive, trying to block hits from coming in, and then you backpedal, it would be a defensive maneuver. Anyway, that's my view on it, and just to back it up a bit, I've studied a couple of martial arts, mainly boxing and tae kwondo, some muay thai (mainly theoretically).
  8. Heh, I've heard of Fl
  9. @Jedibob: The problem with the previous example is that a twohanded sword is twohanded for a reason: it's heavy! At least, most are. The point of weapon finesse is that instead of relying on brute force to hit an opponent you rely on quickness and agility, both which are quite hard to achieve with heavier melee weapons. As for strength affecting long ranged weapons, it's more a question of being strong enough to hold the weapon properly and having the stamina to keep it that way. As for having accuracy because of either strength or dexterity and why they can't work in tandem, well, it's two different ways of fighting. Either you choose to go at your opponent as hard as you can, hoping that they won't hit too hard, or you rely on your agility to not get hit and get in some hits, not necessarily strong. Also, it's damn near impossible to put raw strength and agility together so that you get the most out of both. EDIT: It's also harder to rely on strenght when you're fighting with smaller or lighter weapons, and that's where finesse comes in...
  10. Hmmm. Riiiiight, I'm just gonna step waaay over here for now...
  11. Well, you haven't missed that much really...Besides, death/black metal gets really repetetive.
  12. Linear = pretty much only one way to get through a level. If you ever played Thief II, there's a great example of a non-linear sneaking game. If not, go try it out!
  13. Well, I agree with the 1337's perspective on balance issue. Besides, if you had a mix of STR and DEX instead of all out in one or the other you'd end up with a really poor character anyway, as both defense would be lower, and the damage from STR would be reduced.
  14. I liked the older controls better, like for Nintendo. There weren't too many buttons or functions to keep in mind...
  15. I'm was here to follow the development of KotOR 2, now I'm here to, well, I dunno really...
  16. I wonder if this one is gonna be linear as well. That was kind of a disapointment with the first one. dunno about the second one, but I heard it was linear as well.
  17. Yeah, but super high stats? Or have I misunderstood?
  18. ...I thought the game was already easy ? ...And what fun is there in having super high stats?
  19. No, I don't play games that much really. I only play 'em when there's really nothing at all to do, so it doesn't matter to me.
  20. Would explain a lot
  21. Well, I dunno what it's like or was like in Canada, but the American grading system, that I had to endure for 8 years, went like this: A 91-100 B 81-90 C 71-80 D 61-70 F 0-59 This was about four years ago, before that it was harder IIRC.
  22. Hmm, sounds interesting, and it seems that the approach to the gameworld or setting, whatever, is similar to S.T.A.L.K.E.R., where the developers acutally put in the real-life Chernobyl area. Man, I want that game...
  23. Well, true gamer, but only to a certain extent. I play whatever floats my boat, be it RPGs, FPS's, strategy, whatever. Just no MMORPG's, LAN games ie. Counter-Strike, and ridiculously violent games (read anything GTA, for example), unless their made with a certain sense of humor. Kinda like Peter Jackson movies, they're hilarious.
  24. 213374U vs. Ostkant I'm taking bets, odds to be announced.
