  1. My bad. It's the terminology that'll screw one up, like if someone says gimme two nickels, some people would prolly be like huh? The thai language doesn't "change" verbs to refer to different tenses, ie. in english the present tense for go is go, past is went, I dunno, I don't remember all those grammatical terms. Anyway, point is, verbs in thai don't change. Also, there's (IIRC) 44 consonants and 36 or 33 vowels. There's also no spaces between words, and there's no periods to mark the end of a sentence.
  2. That's the one! It's also optically active, I think, or flourescent, so it glows in UV light. More stupid stuff: May 15th, 2001, Jim Rippy of Slednecks made the first backflip on a snowscooter. Some of you probably know this one: Dolphins are the only other living creatures than humans that have sex for other reasons than population increase. Religious figures who've had visions of a higher power would in today's society most probably be clinically declared the subject of temporal lobe epilepsy. The belief that harakiri means suicide in japanese is according to my friend (who's japanese) wrong. Harakiri means to cut your stomach, but suicide is something else. Most metals (at least Al) are about 3 times as strong when milled compared to their cast counterparts.
  3. Uh, I can't think of anything better, so here goes: american coins don't have any indication of how much they're worth. Gin and tonic was "invented" by englishmen in India. For some reason the human body needs kinin (dunno if that's correct in english..), which is an ingredient in tonic water, but since tonic water isn't that good, they mixed it with gin. Much better! The official speed record for standup skateboarding is 100.66 km/h, though it has been broken unofficially. For streetluge I believe it's around 134 km/h.
  4. Heh, I've actually thought about that too. Of course it'd have to be heavily moderated, so no topics get derailed and start becoming constructive, and people trying to calm the trolls down would have to be warned/banned.
  5. Well, I'm guessing he's referring to counrtries like Afghanistan, Iraq, and Iran in this particular instance, and not without cause either. If that is the case, then I think he had full right to do so. The governments of those countries before their invasion (well, not Iran, cause no invasion.. yet..) almost undoubtedly had some form of contact with terrorist networks.
  6. I played both games without, and prefer KotOR II. The first one I'd never heard of before I played it, and I thought it was pretty good. The second one I followed quite closely, but I didn't really have any expectations of it. KotOR II was easier and less polished, but to me it was the better game. As for story, both of them got pretty old to me after the 2nd to 3rd playthrough, but if I had to choose, it'd be KotOR II.
  7. Haven't heard of that one...Did he really say that regarding the other countries, or as an inspiring speech though?
  8. True, but there was still a lack of offensive force powers, shields, stims etc. used by enemies in KotOR II. Also, one hit kills were much more rare in KotOR I, even after I'd played it a couple of times and gotten the hang of it.
  9. I dunno, I thought that the first game had more difficult battles compared to the second one. I got through the Trayus Academy without a single problem until Kreia, and even though she was hard, she went down pretty fast, and that was with a sentinel/watchman build. The storm beasts, great or normal, also went down in about two rounds max, four for the big guy. Going through the star forge as a sentinel in the first game was pretty hard for me. The difference is the enemy AI, it's far better in the first one. They actually used different force powers against you in KotOR I, unlike KotOR II. I still prefer the second game though!
  10. Well, even though I'm european and don't really agree with much of US politics, I think that it's somewhat neccessary to realize that they are the only superpower left in the world at the moment, and thus behaviour that can easly be criticised will be what gets noticed and focused on. In turn, what good things the US does will become less easy to notice, cause that stuff usually doesn't make the news. For example, if the US "policed" the world less, then Taiwan would have been taken by China a long time ago. Also, I can't really agree with the statement "If you're not with us, you're against us," even though I'm guessing Jellybelly meant it is an exaggeration. I'd say that the attitude is more like, "If you're not with us, then get out of our way." Of course, that's still arrogant
  11. The question is (can't be bothered to look it up), how much of all brain cells is that?
  12. Some of you people need to loosen up a bit. Seriously, who REALLY cares about what a guy you don't know, haven't met, and probably never will meet says about another person with the aforementioned traits? Besides, NumbersU makes a lot of threads a helluva lot more entertaining/interesting than they'd otherwise be, as do other "trolls". Also, what else would all you people do if you couldn't complain and whine about someone "trolling?"
  13. I can feel compassion for the Pope, as I would for any suffering human. He hasn't had it easy, what with Parkinsons and all. Also, I think it is a bit of a shame that the people whom he means much to are already mourning his impending death instead of celebrating his life and his accomplishments...
  14. Hmm, I can't say that I know myself, so I'm gonna say I have no clue. Also, almost all the characters in both KotORs had some serious issues.
  15. I guess Caligula could work too. It's not as old as Assarhaddon, but I mean, naming your kid after a dude who makes it a crime to look at you from someplace higher because he had a bald spot, got caugt with his sister, and tried to make a horse (which was already a priest) a senator, amongs other weird stuff, can't be that bad, can it?
  16. My name is Mikael, I live in G
  17. I think a suicide-advocating cult would be cooler.
  18. You guys have some pretty high standards for the completion time of a patch, or maybe I'm somewhat ignorant to how patches are handled these days. Regardless, patience is a virtue.
  19. I agree. I'm actually getting somewhat sick of hearing Revan this, Exile that, and oooh, K3 PC there...Let Revan and the Exile just go away already!!! As in-game PCs/NPCs at least.
  20. Glad P
  21. Well, as you said, K2 is very buggy. Everyone AFAIK gets the Ebon Hawk ending, but how it survived, uh, magic? Anyway, for K3, I thought it'd be cool to do something similar to your idea. Basically deal with the repurcussions of the actions of Revan and Exile and learn what happened to em in the process. And with a completely new PC, new NPCs, preferably much later than K2, and without some kind of special PC. Just a regular dude, though a jedi dude. Oh, and welcome to the Obsidian forums!
  22. So Gothic 2 promotes cannibalism ) ?
  23. Just google the word binary. You'll get more information than you need, but it's pretty interesting. It's a base 2 numerical system (means it only has two digits, namely 0 and 1), so that's why there's more than one digit for each corresponding base 10 number.
  24. I recognize both Marquez and Seth. Didn't Marquez write Chronicle of a Death Foretold? That was a really good book. I can't really remember why I recognize Seth though... edit: just found it, An Equal Music, by Vikram Seth. Haven't read it though..
  25. Well, I started playing CRPGs naugt but 4 years ago, and if my memory serves correctly, the first RPG I ever played was Fallout 1. Haven't really played that many RPGs otherwise though, pretty much only the FO series, BG series, IWD series (though I never could finish either), and KotOR series of course.
