Well, you know what they say about wanting something done right... so I started looking at the .2da and script files... maybe I'll head over to Aurora's forum and see if she needs any help
-
Um, because I didn't think about it. The only change I made to Beancounter's files is the one he recommended for enabling the boss AI for all enemy, so I didn't think it would be necessary to include his source files, since you could get it from his mod. As for k_inc_force.nss, it just didn't occur to me. Here, then, is the mod, with the Fury fix and all the source files. Better? :D yet_another_KOTOR2_MOD.zip

Ok, at least 30 people have downloaded the mods, and nobody has anything to say? "

You know, just because Kreia tells the Exile that she's never used the mind trick on him/her, doesn't mean that you have to believe the old witch <_< ...

You mean with the stock game, or the mod? Either way, a Consular with high wisdom and charisma can throw people around like rag dolls. With the normal game, a starting Consular with wis&chr of 14 can push or stun most opponents; on the other hand, if you're a foolish and ugly Guardian, don't expect your force-fu to be of much use . To answer your question, though: yes, it is possible to lower the saving throws of the enemy.

This is actually an interesting theory. I'm inclined to believe that Kreia could be Handmaden's mother, but that plot branch was never expanded. There seems to be enough hints that point to the devs at least considering that plot twist as an option, though...

I don't know about the level cap, but it would be possible to re-edit the xp table so that you would end up with a more reasonable level at the end of the game. I believe Hades_one has a mod that does that, and I think he(?) handled the Prestige class issue by having the switch happen at LV10. I don't have a link to that mod off the top of my head, but it's around here somewhere... Actually, it's here.

One last note and I'll go away : This isn't really ment to be an "insane" mod, so while the battles are significantly harder than with the regular game, a combat oriented character (guardian/maurader for instance) will still be able to pound through the game without too much trouble. If anybody wants me to make a "I am a Sith chew toy" build, just ask. :D

This version of the mod fixes the Fury and Wookiee Rage feats, adding back the extra attacks. Keep in mind that if you have Fury, Speed, and the Juyu form all active, you could be hitting 7 times a round (w00t) , which may or may not break the game. As always, use at your own risk... yet_another_KOTOR2_MOD.zip

This is really a compilation of Aurora's mod and Beancounter's script. I changed a few files to balance the way the two work together, and recompiled Beancounter's script to enable the enhanced enemy AI. Needless to say, the game is more... challenging ". One thing I did tryto do is scale the difficulty level so that the game is significantly harder towards the end, but only a bit harder at first. One thing I've noticed is that there is a bit more experience available, so you can expect to end the game with a couple of extra levels (lv32 in my case). Give it a whirl and let me know what you think  yet_another_KOTOR2_MOD.zip

From what I can tell, you can mostly "talk the talk" without actually having to "walk the walk" when playing DS. You still have to do the bribry and exthortion stuff, but you don't really have to kill any innocents. The ones you do have to kill had it comming anyway .
-
Playing a DS character is a mixed bag for me. Although I don't have any problems taking evil dialog options, when it comes to doing evil things, I usually can't. For instance, when talking with Kreia, I can rack up a ton of DS points, but I would never sell the little girl into slavery. Of course, there are some evil things, like telling the two thugs to junp off the ledge, that I have no problems with, but they probably deserved it .
-
I didn't really like Kreia either, but being an XP whroe, I had to keep her around
-
Are you kidding? Give her force wave and force storm and she's got plenty of power .

don't call it "content patch",
chibajoe replied to poolofpoo's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Well, I, for one, wouldn't mind paying a little extra to get the game as it was meant to be (or, at least, closer to how it was meant to be " ). I could care less what they call it <_<. -
Have you explored all the dialog trees? There's at least 15-20k of experience tucked in among the various conversations there, without using any of the exploits. I think I was lv31 on my first playthrough as a Consular/Jedi Master.

Actually, I've been playing around (in game and with the files) with both Aurora's mods and the Hardcore mod, both seperately and in combination. Beancounter's Hardcore mod only changes the enemy level and ai, whereas Aurora's stuff does some rebalancing of the PC classes as well. The mods definitely make the game more challenging, especially if both are installed, but the curve is pretty brutal. I'm going to try to tweak some of Aurora's files, add a modified autobalance.2da file to deal with scaling issues, and recompile the Hardcore mod to enable the enhanced enemy ai and see where that leads. I'm not ready to post anything yet, but if anybody wants to be a guinea pig shoot me a PM :D.

Nar Shadda (lightsaber, mira, GOTO) Dantooie (kill Vrook ) Korriban (experience) Onderon The Mira sequence is only hard if you try to fight your way through, but you know what they say about living by the sword...
-
On Nar-Shaddar: Atton: Did anybody catch all that? All I got was "very". BD: I think he wanted us to give up the General to his poorly trained group of mercenaries. Atton: Oh! Well, which one do you want? BD: I'll take the stupid one who decided to ask questions instead of shooting us when he had the chance...

Things you wish a KOTOR2 character would say......

Too many NPCs a bane for KOTOR II
chibajoe replied to alx1078's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I'm in agreement on this one; there are way too many NPCs, and it's obvious that Obsidian did not have enough time to flesh all of them out sufficiently. I think if there had only been 4-5 NPCs who were more distinct (i.e. had a more distinct skill set) and well developed, it would have made the game more interesting. Considering Obsidian didn't fully flesh out the NPCs that are in the game, I don't think the BG "lots of NPCs but limited party size" approach would have worked out very well. -
General Discussion About The Game
chibajoe replied to jon_stowell's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I can't say that I found any of the battles overly challenging, even playing in hard mode. On the other hand, I will say that there are some VERY annoying interface issues. My biggest complaint is the inability of your characters to retain their given orders. You can set up a nice string of orders, but as soon as the currently targeted enemy is dead, those orders vanish into the great bit bin in the sky. Instead of stringing together a bunch of power attacks, you have to constantly mash the power attack button, since most enemies die with one or two hits anyway. I suppose this wouldn't be so bad if you had a game controller and are constantly mashing buttons anyway, but on a keyboard/mouse it gets old real fast. Between that, the broken/incomplete quests, lame combat animations, and generally uninteresting (mainly because it isn't sufficiently fleshed out) story, I also didn't have as much fun playing KOTOR2 as I did the first game. <sigh> I wonder if I could use this as a tax write off... " -
Great game, in spite of all the bugs. I've got a fairly decent system, so was never bothered by the framerate. In fact, I just finished KOTOR2, and am considering replaying Bloodlines just so I can be reminded what a fun RPG is like... <_< Seriously, it's like all Trokia (may the rest in peace) games: great story, poor execution.

KOTOR2: Hottest Female Character
chibajoe replied to Topaz Quasar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
If I had the choice, the Twin Suns, but off the list: Handmaiden. The two of you who voted for Kreia are sick mofos... "
