  1. I don't know. I felt a lot of nostalgia in the mid 90s for the old RPGs simply because those kinds of games were no longer being made. Once BG/FO showed up all that nostalgia went away. I think most people just want new games in their chosen genres, it is only when those dry up that nostalgia takes hold.
  2. I agree though it gets good again when you get to the level 5 dungeons. Level 3 and 4 are a long slog, you get very little exp per dungeon and need a ton and there ceases to be much chance of any of your characters dying. They need to work on those levels to make them better.
  3. Why? Is there something unachievable about being better than BG, IWD, or PS:T?
  4. A really good romance would probably require it to be mandatory. It would be the focus of the game. I would not be opposed to this, but not for a PoE game.
  5. There is a group of people on the internet who saw the beta and concluded it sucked. Of course it was an actual beta and not one of those early access things so...
  6. A Romance DLC? I like it. Each Romance could be sold separately! Wait I better stop before the AAA guys grab this idea and run with it.
  7. Western culture? We have been doing romances for centuries and include them amongst our most treasured cultural achievements. Aren't you being just a little hyperbolic here attacking an entire culture for a few people's opinions on RPG romances? Maybe instead of burning down a civilization in a bizarre bit of generalization you should just stick with the argument that wish fulfillment is what we are in the business of here.
  8. Eh they are a mixed bag from good to embarrassingly dreadful. But they are also considered the standard in the industry for this sort of thing.
  9. I agree 100% with this, but I also disagree 100% with this response of therefore excluding them altogether. I'm not advocating taking a leaf from Inquisition's book and the politics of their developers. What I am saying is that throwing out romances from an Infinity inspired RPG is throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Bioware only came to that political stance after years of being hammered. And I don't think it is a political stance they are just doing what their customers demand they do. So...romance makers take warning. You better pander to a large set of people.
  10. As I have said numerous times, let's see what they mean by "no romance". There might be some sort of romance or love story just not of the Bioware kind. Don't get the 'No Girls Allowed' thing. Just because there are no romances does not mean my adventuring group is going to be all male.
  11. Yeah I wanted this to, but it does not look like it is the case. Or at least not for me since I ordered it off Amazon. It is not due to be delivered until April.
  12. And how is the game for you? I tried it but it got boring real quick.. It is just what I wanted at this juncture. Nice short adventures with a bit of strategy and resource management. Every once in a while a character I have been building up awhile gets put in danger and that is a bit of a rush of adrenaline which is fun. Almost finished getting my last couple classes to level 6. Starting to get a little stale but after 50+ hours that is to be expected for a game of such small scope. Looking forward to the new classes and dungeons later.
  13. Man it has been over 15 years since Gromnir responded to one of my posts. Chris A is such a softy.
  14. Nah. I prefer games that are limited in their experience and do the experience very well. Not every game has to be Skyrim. I do not dislike Skyrim but I would rather not every game be like that.
  15. I enjoy posting the same ideas over and over again. It is easier than having to think new thoughts.
  16. Um they said there would be no romances in 2012. If you have been following this game why is this just becoming an issue now, three years later? We have already had this discussion many many time. But I am keeping an open mind about it. I have no idea what 'no romances' really means and how exactly it will work. And BG had no romance-able NPCs. Like I have said to everybody who has decided no romances means everything is going to be terrible, wait a bit and see what people say about it and give it a chance. And having just a few hetero choices would be a huge finger to the LGBT community and it would be far better to just have none rather than have Obsidian be known as the homophobic developer.
  17. Elder Scrolls has never worked like that, it never really mattered what your race was. The explanation was because of the cosmopolitan nature of the Empire. Well that was a decent enough explanation for most of them but it was weird in Morrowind and Skyrim. But that is only where it starts. You just have to get used to the fact that there is not going to be a ton of reactivity to what you do, that is the price for the freedom and the open world. IIRC about VTM: Bloodlines is that they only were able to keep up that level of reactivity for a portion of the game.
  18. What was wrong with Kaiden? Kaiden was my boy! He never gave me any indication he was bisexual but you know? I can appreciate him trying to keep our friendship strictly professional.
  19. Hey man I was the one called a slave. But it was meant joke no insult intended. I was just poking fun at how intense Luckmann has been about this. But reading it over the real reason it fell flat was because I left out a word. That should read 'if you anarchist revolutionaries want ME to use something different' You can use all the GoG you want. More power to you.
