  1. pfft, i dont think i will do any fighting inside durgans battery today - the sidequests are waiting for me, higher level=less reloads and time spent... i think the big group (in front of the forge) could easily take the whole day if i started now... and thats a fight i want to do before i go to the ambush
  2. hmmm? I expected monk to have better chances (higher movementspeed and 50% CC duration) And charm/stun is out of reach, for every stack i have to be 2.8 secs "not CCd"... and for paralise i'd need 4 stacks - much too long... and my ACC suxx... so i will try my strategy with the long pull and summons BEFORE the enemies spawn - so there is hope... if that isnt enough and i'd need a charm (since charm >>>>>>>>>paralise if you just want to run) i would have to respecc X_x but there is hope! THERE IS HOPE!!! (if i didnt have hope, i wouldnt try the big door fight - if i want to do it fast, i will do it in one long fight - that could take me >1h with pauses - since ogres are really easy to interrupt, so many enemies attacking ogres? Not many attacks...) now back to the bounties... i hope that i can reach lvl 15 for the ambush - that would make it much easier!
  3. As much as i like "official answers" - and dislike "bumping" - this thread hasnt been answered at all - the answer is to the most irrelevant part. So - sry but *bump* - until i know that the "answer" to an irrelevant part doesn't mean the relevant part gets overlooked. If my post about "why the answer is to an irrelevant part" (its the post with the big big letters that are underlined - sure, its not the way you should write a post, however i hope that my focus is clear - its not about one single sentence in one example - its somewhere else... and this time i tried to make it clear what is relevant and what isn't) is unclear - tell me, i can try to make the problem clear as many times as its needed until i get an answer thats on topic. its not really about charm - its about the game stopping fights at wrong times - charm is only one case that can lead to the problem (why end the fight if all enemies are charmed? Why end the fight if all enemies are attack each other and you start healing/buffing yourself - not attacking the enemies?) Sure, ending Charm if all enemies or your group is dead is fine... but if you stand next to a group of charmed enemies, you are fully buffed - the game stopping the fight is... wrong) -- The above are cases with charm, but charm isn't the focus - as i said - and will say again - fight detection (thats what i call it) is - the enemy is almost in melee range... i am casting an AOE spell - the enemy was moving towards me... however the game decided to stop the fight since the enemy wasnt focusing me, he was focused on getting back to his spawn point and i wasnt focusing him since my AOE spell focused a place, not a creature... so now the fight stopped... however the enemy is still next to me... and the aggro system in and out of fights is different - so he aggros me again, my spell was stopped since i lost my stacks (chanter) and my chants went on cooldown - since thats what chants do. Looks almost like the example i gave in a former post? You dont think it happened only once or twice do you?
  4. Okay, i know some of these are in the game since the beginning, others are new - however i didnt find a thread about them... So first the new ones: 1) Survival can give you accuracy against X... i tried it, it applied to my weapon attacks and spells but not to The Dragon Thrashed, The Dragon Wailed and not to Come, Come Soft Winds of Death. (most likely not to debuff chants either, however i didnt test those) 2) The chanter has "With All Your Strenght Slay The Beast" - granting you +20 ACC and +30% damage against beasts, i tried it and it looks (only looked for a short time) like it works with weapons - however with chants it granted the ACC but not the +30% damage (and thats easy to see, same damage all the time) And now the old ones: 3) The Dragon Thrashed, The Dragon Wailed doesn't get the +20% bonus burn damage from Scion of Flame (there is an old thread about it, started on 01.04.2015 - no official answer) 4) The Chants don't deal +25% damage VS X if you take the talent (for example, Beast Slayer) (i didnt find a thread for it, however its in the game since the beginning as far as i know) 5) Devotion of the Faithfull gives you +20 Melee and Ranged ACC, your Spells get the bonus however your Chants don't - okay, here it's unclear if the Chants are "ranged or melee or neither" however if spells get the bonus - why don't chants?
  5. perfect 10 could be a thing for chanters - however other classes? I dont see it... I dont even see myself finishing my current run! I get held back by my low ACC in clutch fights - with 68 ACC i cant try to nuke some enemies with dragon chant and get an advantage that way - with 95 (items, 15 start perception and 1h bonus) it could be possible (not possible with RNG - its not one or two hits, its about ~24 hits - if i can hit it all, i could get lucky enough (grazes arent that big of a problem, graze=4 damage ticks, hit=5 damage hits, crit=6 damage ticks)... (i still dont see a way to integrate perception into the naked chanter and even if i had max perception, it wouldnt open the possibility to simply duke it out - the ACC wouldnt be enough and no DR is no go either)
  6. I always cleared that ambush and the key ambush in the mines with a rogue shadowing beyond. I would recommend door tanking I guess and hope a lesser spirit engages you first before a siren so you have time to build up cc. If that fails you have to try to run past the enemies and kite and hope a shadow does not abduct you or stun you. Watch out for slow fireball traps on the panels if you time right they can hit the enemies. Okay - that is what i thought... i dont have enough knowledge about this area, its only my 3rd time here (the first 2 times were ironman runs that both died before finishing it, both didnt enter the ambush), so i created a safe and used cheats after - nofog and invisibility (dont want to redo the whole area because i didnt leave an enemy alive to trigger summons for another fight)... i triggered the ambush for the first time ever - stopped my invisibility and tried to get past it with running in both directions a few times - i dont get far enough to try something... standing still doesnt help either^^ Before that i looked at the big group before the forge - that doesnt look too splitpullable... so i looked and found a big group of weak enemies (only the vessels, no spirits) so my strategy for the area will be: splitpull the vessels and kill all but one, use that one as a fight engage - summon ogres, run near the big group and summon ogres and try to splitpull with the help of the ogres - kill them slowly... The strategy for the ambush i can think of: pull the lonely vessel i created before to the room with the adra sphere - loose aggro to get the sphere - reengage the vessel, get a summon out, have the summon take the aggro of the ambush and try to run past... WoW - that sounds like a reasonable plan - too bad that it can go horroble wrong and it should take quite some time pulling the vessel towards the room... maybe i will do some sidequests first and try to get the next tier level... there should be enough stuff to get to lvl 13/14... lvl 15 would be nice... i tried the summon for a bit - 3 weapons with around 160 endurance, around 60 ACC... vs 2 ogres with around 320 endurance and around 80 ACC... however the ogres attack very slow, maybe every 5 secs or something -.- the weapons attack much faster... even with the lower acc they deal more damage in the same time; and if i didnt see it wrong they are immune to at least some of the CC the spirits have... so they would be a much better summon for the fight - however lvl 15 would mean bounties... and bounties are hard stuff... so much to do because i cant clear one ambush If someone knows of a genius way! Please
  7. okay... so i got through to the foundry... but man that was hard! Battery Spirits can kill me even if they are alone - if i dont start running fast xD however i killed most of the spirits at the barricade (the ones that spawns after you open the workshop and try to go past the barricade again) with a little trick - only to see the way past them after that -.- (the little trick wasnt little at all... took me so long for something useless) now its the foundry... and i see many many enemies that are very bad for me... looks like it will be much reloading here - hours of hours of reloading -.- i dont know, i will try... but i could be at the end of "acceptable time" i will play for a little bit more, but tomorrow should be the day where i see if i manage wm1 or not (PS, i am lvl 11, i didnt do many sidequests after act 2 - so i could try to level up a bit more... however i dont feel like that would make a big difference, its always ogres vs stuff... against weak enemies i help to make it faster, but the hard stuff has MASS RANGE CC so i cant go near... and higher level summons dont look better O_o) okay... i looked into the map a bit more... i should be able to clear everything stationary with enough time... but there is an enemy spawn after you take the adra disc... someone knows if you can dodge it? (get it without the enemy spawn or something) else i would have to get extremely lucky - i dont know if my char has what it takes to get past that ambush...
  8. Thx - going strong in durgans battery, just opened the door to the workshop in the mines - tried for the key first (didnt want to go get the resting bonus for mechanics) but man - i get slaughtered before i can move a bit... TP 2 times, CCd once - death xD
  9. hmmm - i have really big problems with stuff atm - however i can RNG them to death! Chanter can deal with stuff - thats the only thing he is good at... Something can oneshot me with one spell? Try again until he doesnt use it before its too late. Its kinda funny, lvl 9 gave me Dragon chant, it gave me clearspeed - however it didnt give me the potential to deal with much more stuff than i could do before... sure, if enemies outhealed my damage - or if it was closed space where i had to outdamage them - then it gave me a possibility to manage it (and in some cases, it reduced the human factor - you can do 10 secs without a fault, but can you do 10 mins without one?) Most of the time i use dragon chant to speed the fights up, however the ogres are the ones that give me real possiblities... Okay, i can RNG adragans to death (one - but its hard) however thats only because they have too many spells and i can get lucky enough to kill them before they use petrify - with dragon chant and envenomed strike... thats one of the few cases where dragon chant gives me real possibilities^^ I can deal with most stuff in a few mins if i use a lvl 1 chant and summons - however i can deal with the same stuff in <1 min if i use dragon chant and tank them (sure, i will have to rest more - but its still MUCH faster)
  10. hmmm, nalrend - it could be possible, its been a long time for me (ironman - i dont go close to them)... if you manage to get some time for your summons (lvl 1 chant) you could get lucky enough... will try it when i have time^^
  11. I think - i made a wise choice (i may make a "Pervert" post again telling you how the run is going... but here a short few into it!) Dont you see the high damage my might is doing? Dont you see the range and duration of my spell? Jeaha! My build is paying off! It took me about 2 tries to kill the first batch broodmother - the 2nd one? 10 tries until everything went right and i could tank her that way :D I am now fully happy with my dex... JEAH RIGHT!!! I want choices - i dont wanna get oneshot (the DoT kills me - if he casts it i am dead - i have no first strike abilities, the first few secs are running away - they are about as fast... so much fun^^)
  12. The way the game works is in a way: "deal with it" 01-15 = Miss (attack has no effect) 16-50 = Graze (-50% damage or duration) 51-100 = Hit (standard damage and duration) 101+ = Critical Hit (+50% damage or duration) that just means its easy to prevent crits (as long as your defense is as high as the attack - no crits), however if you dont want to get affected (ever), you need 85 defense more... 85... a mere +20, +25 or even both doesnt sound good enough - however if you get 50 above the attack, the duration is at least halved (or missed), -duration abilities/potions come in handy then... so defense in Pillars is different from games like Baldurs Gate; you had no real grazes in BG, in BG you had the big hit or miss CC. If both didnt push anything it was mostly 50%, if you pushed your defense you became very hard to CC because of hit/miss mechanic. In Pillars its different, you rarely miss and you rarely get missed (non optimised builds at least) That is fine if there are no one hit kill abilities (and there is no death spell in Pillars) - however the amount of CC the enemies can throw at you make it really tedious... on hit stun? On hit paralise - sure, BG had something like that too - however in a much bigger game... you found how many enemies that did that to you? - and they had no grazes. So i kinda dislike the system but what to do against it? So while i try to get my resistances up in Solo games (okay - only my anti para/stunlock ones) i try to couple it with reduced durations (charm is not that big of a problem in solo, however i play a chanter - so while fighting charm enemies i try not to summon anything -.-, -duration for other CC abilities is easier to come by (other than petrify)) i dont try for high resistances in group play, its too hard to get everyones defense high enough (okay, cipher could do it - i dont use ciphers) that enemies only graze and -duration abilities... the potion.. okay... but other sources are hard to come by in big amounts... So in group play i try to use the priests spell to get immunity, maybe use items if its only confuse.
  13. to an extend: if you wear plate 2/3/4 dex will do more than just lower your kiting ability - you loose about 2 secs (dont know if it would be less on lvl 16, but thats what you get lvl 7) per spell - so instead of every 8-10 secs (lvl 16 - if the speed doesnt change) you can use lvl 1 spells every 10-12 secs... i dont know how the recovery changes with higher level spells but i think it doesnt change, so if you want to spam something like charm - level 7 you would need about 15-17 secs per charm, with plate and low dex - it would be something like every 17-19... sure, doesnt look too bad i guess - i just dont like the full package - slow moving, slow chanting... even in a group thats not what i want
  14. i will play around one more hour - should get to level 10 before going offline :D Killing the dragon... will see, if i can resolve it peacefully, i may - i was thinking about the exp but... the time investment would be kinda huge for the exp, i dont think its needed^^
  15. hmmm, i thought you needed resolve for that? if you dont - i will still kill the dragon - no dragon shall survive (if i can kill it)
  16. dunno what to take - dragons with my ACC? *Shudder* i dont think i can get that one without fight (i have to tell you one thing: i have never ever completed any other god quest but the dragon - almost always it ended with a dead dragon^^) hmmm... i think the dragon will die^^ but lore -.- to acc: if i could somehow use the 1h no shield bonus i would go for perception, however "only" 15 more doesnt look like it would push me over the edge sure, the damage plus would be huge... but... i dont know, the fast walk is huge too if the difference would be like plate - it takes longer but you can act at the same time - i would do it in a heartbeat... maybe even give up all the time i already spent in this run... maybe i will try it after the run is over (i dont think it will take forever - wm1 has too much range) This run is showing me quite some good things, i will take much into my ironman runs (some quests were easy after i thought about them for a while - now i can do some much quicker^^) I didnt expect to last even this long xD
  17. i dont know if i would get away with 4 dex the around 1 sec less movement can be kinda bad - since you have to position your stuff 2 secs in the future, not 1 sec... i wont restart now^^ the dex can be handy later on - maybe
  18. okay... its not really the right thread - but wow, this is interesting for me and my character! I just tested the effect dex has on the chanter - and its funny... really! so... i used 4 (5) characters (one was just a testgroup if the talent for 2 weapon attackspeed would make a difference - it doesnt so i wont mention him again), one with 19 dex no armor, one with 19 dex and a plate, one with 4 dex no armor and one with 4 dex and plate. the result: all characters start summoning the first phantom at the same time (go figure^^) however the 19 dex group needs the same time to summon them (until THEY can do something - however ALL phantoms get summoned at the same time - despite the fact that not all characters can act the moment the phantom arrives, the 19 dex group can act immediatly - no matter if with or without plate - difference in speed is after the cast and only for the delay before you start chanting again - the difference is not big, maybe as big as 0.2 secs or something...) the 4 dex character has a pretty big delay - the 19 dex group moves almost the full base chant AOE radius before the 4 dex group does. However! The 4 dex no plate character has the same delay for his chants as the 19 dex plate character has - so the only difference is the movement - the faster you can move again the better you can kite when the enemies are hot on your tail. I dont know - looks like i could get away with 4 dex... in heritage hill it wouldnt be a real problem - i think - but its the small things that count, i did play with fast movement after summon up to now, i will look if its necessary from now on. Maybe i did the wrong thing (i know that i wouldnt be able to kill the xaurip skirmisher the same way i did if i had only 4 dex - thats for sure^^) (4dex and plate... looks like the delay works multiplicative, since the difference to everything else was HUGE)
  19. it is as i predicted... my low ACC is holding me back from reaching my final form - 51 ACC is just BAD - normally i play with 1h no shield (chants get +12 acc for that), with 15 base perception and buff it... so 78 ACC normally - i am weeping inside However everything else is higher prio - with less dex i wouldnt have managed heritage hill (lvl 7 you can get your new phantom out a moment after the old one ends - the enemies dont move in that time window - however with less dex your cast time and your recovery would be higher, so you shouldnt get it out fast enough... maybe i will test it... test how much of a difference it makes... if its only about 0.1 secs (maybe as much as 0.2 or o.3)... i could still manage it... any more and... not so much - then i would just loose the way i did heritage hill tower, would need a new strategy... less con is a no go (thats a no brainer - i need to survive the first salve - i'd rather have even more)... less int is the one point i could have done - but not enough to make a difference with perception, the int is needed now... less might would be possible, however i would have needed much longer for the phantoms and the spiders - longer times for spiders is a no go... but its still the only stat i think i could lower X_x Dweller down - so easy with the chant xD just have to play safe if they hobble me :D
  20. With my fists? Let me tell you something: EVERY TIME - at least in fights that dont take forever and ever - i almost killed the dweller, how? I will tell you how! I started the fight, ran like a berserker over the whole map - aggroing the whole map - and i started summoning on cooldown - trying to leave the bounty enemies behind (not the dweller) i lost aggro on the dweller 3 times, but then! THEN!!! I got it back - without anyone else coming after me (dying summons and only dweller near me was the key) - after that i used the triangle of death - dealing about 1.5-3 damage per salve from the wurms (please check the attackspeed - its very very slow) - i was greedy since the dweller never aggroed onto me, only onto my summons and tried to get some DPS with come come - but then - the dweller was running towards a wurm... as a feint - he aggroed onto me and got the attack in and i was stuck... shortly after i was dead - about 20 mins of hard work down the drain... i tried the drakes too - managed to get the chief alone - again with tricks - only that he started using his healing spell all the time (wtf? doesnt he have a limited amount? ) - i tried out DPSing the healing with my fists... but he aggroed onto me and killed me... Sly Cyrdel - ended up dead with the trick i tried against the dweller - only the enemies didnt chase as much... after some tries (where i killed the enemies that did follow alone with envenomed strike rather quickly (were the ones with low fort)) i got him alone, took me 10 mins or so to take him down... jeah, envenomed strike is a big help... it made me clear the spider cave very easy - i am thinking about using it in my normal build, i have problems generating bodys in that cave without massive figurine spam, every envenomed strike is a possible body (and i have more ACC then) The damage my Fists put out outdamage everything my chanter kit gives me - good class good class! (okay, thats only with splitpulling and when the enemy isnt too strong or has aggro problems so i cant melee him) I had many fights today where the wurms killed the enemies alone - with either 1 or 2 damage per graze, about 3-8 damage per hit or something like that... i feel like raging a bit X_x But the chanter can deal with stuff xD Onto the good news: 306 EP until lvl 9, so doing the main quest now LVL 9 HERE I COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. 1. Shade Figurine 2. Wood Beetle Figurine Figurines... Fan of Flames (against Caed Nua Phantoms) and then... maybe... something else - sometimes a trap - but mostly no - figurines and FoF scrolls vs the phantoms - thats it for me
  22. hey - i finished act 2 - not really, i can finish it whenever, still trying the quests i didnt try before so i can get some more exp - am at the start of lvl 8, just took envenomed strike - god that should help since i dont play ironman :D BUT! I hate myself i took the thief side because its the only one i could do atm - maybe the dozens quest would be possible too, i dont know, i did the dozens one time, maybe 1-3 weeks after game release, never did it again, the bonus is just too weak X_x. And i know that i wont be able to rush wm1, 1 movementspeed would have to be stronger than all of my items combined (-1 movementspeed from armor - i tried that once and it didnt make the lagufaeth splitbullable^^) stalwart could be rushable... will see (i did stalwart with a bow in hand and no armor as a lvl 6 chanter, i was no moon godlike^^ - tried to get the soulbound bow... but i couldnt muster the persistence to kite 4 ice trolls and some ice blights or something to death, else i would have gotten it)
  23. join the f5 sect no - i have 2 monitors and the thing i am doing is on one - the 2nd monitor is for streams - chats - data - what is just need... and there is no stream, no chat and nothing i need right now, so i have the pillars character build forum open, with "reload every" active
  24. wait wait wait - i think i missed something here :D We shall walk naked - no cloth is good enough for us - no weapon shiny enough - nothing shall taint our holy body! No drugs no food! NO CLOAK! All hail the Nudist!
  25. And jeah - there are better ways you can kill the sporelings - i didnt have the caed nua resting bonus anymore and didnt realise it - thats why they were as fast as me, the beginning went badly and thats why i had to kite him so far^^ The others will fall much much faster - but i still dont know if i will manage the confuse/charm enemies in a timeframe thats not - over the top X_x
