I would have had him trained anyway, full of naive optimism that he could deny his evil destiny and become a good person, been proved completely wrong and gone away to sulk/die in a corner.

I think it would have made more sense to stick around and have another go at Palpatine - he didn't lose by much, after all. The Empire was extremely precarious - had Palpatine been defeated, the whole edifice would have crumbled and the Republic re-emerged by default. It was worth the risk of another kicking, definitely.

Best Star Wars Game Created
SteveThaiBinh replied to Darth Rexon's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It's true that these are very early games. I imagine Lego Star Wars would have got a few votes, had it been included. I didn't play it myself, but I thought the graphics were very cute. -
Whos YOUR favorite baddie in SW?
SteveThaiBinh replied to ThEvIlLiAgEiDiOt's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Vader cried over Padme because he was human. Surely that humanity increases his appeal as a villain? I've no great interest in one-dimensional pantomime figures like Darth Malak, as effective as they are in the right kind of setting. -
Ok a few things to clear up
SteveThaiBinh replied to JamesRobbo's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
1. Anyone can train others to be a Jedi, not just a Jedi Master. It's a matter of gaining enough (or losing enough) influence with the character you want to train, and meeting the other requirements for that character. You can train The faqs at gamefaqs will tell you more about exactly how to do this. 2. HK is more for fun and for the dialogue. Keep him around, get lots of influence with him and see what he says. 3. Yes, I had this as well. Not sure if it was ever fixed entirely. 4. Everybody hates G0-T0. I think that was intended. They should have included a way of killing him, though. 5. No romance implemented - just vague hints. The Restoration Project will add a little more, but nothing like Kotor1. 6. It's not really a crusade, but anyway - I tend to use Atton, Kreia and Bao-Dur a lot. I like to keep people around that I met in the early days of the adventure - it feels more like an epic journey. The Ebon Hawk is just way too crowded by the end. -
I'm surprised this kind of thing isn't commercially viable. With all the private telecommunications satellites up there, couldn't private companies develop this sort of technology?

I've had dreams in which I seemed to be wearing night-vision goggles. It's probably signifies something really important, though I have no idea what.

I believe they're still working actively on patching/improving NWN2. Perhaps that counts as a seperate project?

(This is assuming you're using Windows XP) Right-click on the 'My Computer' icon on the desktop and choose 'Properties', then 'General'. Copy down what it says after 'Computer:' That should be your CPU and RAM. Then, in the same window, click 'Hardware', 'Device Manager' and 'Display Adapters'. Copy down the line that appears. That should be your video card. Those are the most important factors in determining why the game is having problems.

A lot of changes were made to Kotor2 relatively late in the development process, but a printed guidebook has to go to the printers months in advance. As a result, we've heard reports on these forums that such books are very inaccurate for Kotor2, more so than for most games. You'd do much better with on-line guides and walkthroughs - gamebanshee and gamefaqs are good.

I believe it's the same in the UK. Children's clothes are zero-rated for VAT, and adult clothes have the regular 17.5%. I think it's fair to tax essentials like clothes, but not punitively. We're fairly safe with clothing, as a tax on clothes that was perceived as unfair would impact on so many people, it would surely be electoral suicide for the government that introduced it. I like the Illinois idea of 'high' and 'low' tax rates for VAT or sales tax. If you can trust the government to categorise things reasonably fairly as luxuries and non-luxuries, then it seems fair to me. Fairer than many taxes, at least. Could a permanent naturist enclave be established where laws on clothes would be suspended?

Cool. I'm going to try Dantooine2 as my desktop background for a few days.

I am a tan dragon. Is that different to beige? My breath weapon is a mix of fire and air. Is this a good idea?

Last Battle on Telos
SteveThaiBinh replied to Darth Petpeeve's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I always wondered why this was done. Was it an attempt to 'guide' you, tutorial like, to finding the party screen? If so, it's rather a failure, as a lot of people were stumped by this and the question keeps on appearing here. Or was it just an oversight? -
I think you meant: It's a mercy killing (mercy on the rest of us, anyway), and there's not a jury in the land would convict.

And coming soon... the next little Yoda wannabe. I wonder if games like Republic Commando and Star Wars: Galaxies are able to resist the temptation to have little Yoda wannabes?

Ebon Hawk - Harbinger - Sith vessel questions
SteveThaiBinh replied to DAWUSS's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
A Sith vessel headed straight for Peragus would have alerted the Republic and attracted Republic warships, even assuming that it was still operational. The Harbinger, a Republic vessel, might have approached without arousing suspicion - I'm sure the Harbinger would have been reported lost by then, but perhaps they planned to disguise themselves as another republic ship, at least for a while. The Sith didn't know, after all, that Peragus would be crippled when they arrived and that such disguises were unnecessary. -
Very pretty. More of the scenery of Dantooine would be nice - it's easily the prettiest planet. I liked the enclave one a lot. Some more without characters or lightsabers would be cool, but if you've got to have them, make them blue.

The Jedi Masters' Locations
SteveThaiBinh replied to SilentScope001's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The questions are really interesting. It's been a long time since I played the game, but... As I recall, Atris was under the influence of the Sith Holocrons from way before the beginning of the game. It's possible the dark side had some method of Jedi detection that the LS Jedi didn't. She seemed to me to be in some kind of delusional state of DS while still believing she was LS. So chances are she simultaneously believed she was keeping the information so she could one day re-unite the old Jedi masters and believed she was keeping the information so she could find and kill them herself. She was nuts, I guess. Edit: added *spoiler warning* to the title. I think that works better than having lots of spoiler tags and blacked-out text. -
quickest you've finished peragus?
SteveThaiBinh replied to JamesRobbo's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Good to see I'm not the only one who likes Peragus, SpaceAlex. I enjoy the fact that there's an appreciable difference in your character between level-ups. Later in the game, level-ups become rather a chore. I also like the eerieness, the introduction of two or three great characters very slowly, and controlling T3. So, I have no idea how long I usually take, but longer than most, from what I read above. -
choices , choices , choices
SteveThaiBinh replied to JamesRobbo's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Single one-handed Blue Light side Hmmmm. Companions only? T3. Or any NPC? The Onderon cantina waitress. Nar Shaddaa 8.5/10 - expecting (hoping) to raise that to 9.5/10 when TSLRP is released. -
Big plot hole in KOTOR 1?
SteveThaiBinh replied to Dazed&Confused's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Ooh, that's a point. Thanks. -
Ooh, that was pretty . The moon was a rather dim murky red colour, but it seemed to have little flashes and glints almost circling around it - disconcerting and beautiful. I guess something in the atmosphere causes that - can't imagine what.

I'll be staying up for the total lunar eclipse, due here in about 2-3 hours. Scientists are predicting that this one will be unusually good. Anyone else planning to see it, or seen it already? Was it as good as predicted?
