  1. I agree that a Director's Cut would be a lovely idea, but I also agree, for the reasons others have stated above, that it's very unlikely. The Restoration Project remains everyone's best hope. I remember they weren't ruling out an XBox version of their mod at one point - does anyone know what they're saying now? I suppose it's possible that if/when Kotor 3 is released, LucasArts will want to do a re-issue/box set of Kotors 1 and 2, and they might do some tinkering with the games for that. Don't expect that any time soon, though.
  2. I hadn't heard of that one before. Has anyone ever had Visas trigger on this condition? You'd have to be really going hard gray Jedi to avoid getting enough LS/DS points, not just balancing LS/DS points but striving to avoid them altogether.
  3. Thanks. I'll definitely check it out. I've only recently got into the NWN user-created modules, and it's really amazing how much good stuff is out there.
  4. Baldur's Gate? The K1RP looks pretty interesting. I'll play it if they finish it.
  5. Bottles of mineral water.
  6. This is pretty interesting. I've tried in the past to go high-DEX finesse, but always gave up because the character seemed to be getting weaker level by level relative to the more traditional STR-focused characters I'd played before. Does a finesse character really do well at the end against ?
  7. I don't think there's anything wrong with Drizzt at all. He's a nice guy. in BG2. OK, he does have a rather unfortunate accent, one that could quite easily be imagined to say 'Tally-ho!', but that's no reason to kill him. And Deekin was great fun, too, especially when singing the song from Fame. I wish they'd got a voice actor for the gnome song in NWN2.
  8. I've been meaning to try this out for a while. I've a few friends who are quite keen on it but don't spend a huge amount of time there, which sounds good for me. I'll see if I can get it to download.
  9. And yet you play it quite well. :D
  10. It all depends on how actively involved Mr. Lucas is in the TV series. If he attempts to direct or, God forbid, to write dialogue, I won't be watching. If they get a professional director and team of writers, it could be very good.
  11. The news now says it's 330 foot deep. In which case attempting a 340 foot bungee jump might not have a positive outcome.
  12. Is 340 feet high enough for bungee jumping?
  13. OK, here goes. No-one is accusing Harry of cowardice - indeed it would be absurd to do so. His uncle Andrew saw active service in the Falklands - being royal is no guarantee that you won't be sent into harm's way. To join the modern army is to expect to go to war. I would also imagine that when he joined he was told that there might be circumstances in which his celebrity would make it impossible for him to be sent into certain situations, for the reasons I mentioned. There was a great deal of press speculation and pundit commentry at the time, and the consensus was that that the way it had to be. There was no suggestion that this would be Harry's decision - therefore the question of his bravery doesn't enter into it. It is, I believe, a Ministry of Defence/Clarence House decision. And it's with these two unpleasant institutions that I have the problem. Clarence House (the Prince of Wales' office) used, then briefed against and sought publicly to villify Princess Diana. I don't doubt Harry or William's sincerity in joining the army to serve their country, but I also will admit that I suspect the royal courtiers of pushing them to do so in the hope that some of the public's respect for the armed forces (still reasonably high) will rub off on a very tarnished Royal Family. The Ministry of Defence - well, don't get me started, but their latest triumph was holding in their possession for years a video tape that shed light on how a British soldier was killed by friendly fire while simultaneously lying to his widow that such a tape did not exist. I could go on about soldiers killed because they'd been ordered to give up their protective clothing, refusal to accept Gulf War Syndrome despite mounting scientific evidence, closure of military hospitals, etc. It's part of the Blair spin machine now, and headlines are king. Harry is not and can never be just another anonymous soldier. He's third in line to the throne. There is a real decision to be made, case by case, as to whether his celebrity is an acceptable factor or one that potentially interferes with mission objectives. Everyone knows that. No-one thinks it's cowardice on his part. If it's only his military commanders making the judgement, then I'm reasonably happy, but if its the MoD and Clarence House, I don't trust their objectivity. They have other agendas. I'm aware that in the US, much has been made of whether senators or administration officials would send their own family to the war that they voted for. Michael Moore has been very theatrical on this issue, if I recall correctly. I don't think you can compare the two issues. Harry is a bigger celebrity than a senator's son, and the fact that he may at times need to be specially shielded is not controversial in the UK, I think, it's seen a matter of making his honourably-motivated presence operationally viable and useful.
  14. There are organisations that take customer service seriously and holistically, and organisations that just pay lip service to the idea. I've seen a number of decisions and policies justified as 'meeting the needs of the customers', whereas they look more like 'suiting the convenience of management' to me. In the wrong hands, it's simply a way of ignoring employees' legitimate concerns.
  15. One of the great things about the NWN2 premium edition was NWN+expansions all on one DVD. I wonder why they can't get BG1 and TOTSC on the same DVD? My Baldur's Gate Compilation has the same 2 DVDs and 2 CDs.
  16. I ran Kotor 2 on a GeForce FX5200, and it works very well. You can't run maximum settings, but you're not on minimum settings either, the water looks good, the fog/smoke plays without dramatic falls in framerates.
  17. Very cool! You could do another one for TSL, but focusing on a different character (like Kreia or Atton) and with a different mood. Or you could do something similar for Kotor 1. I'm looking forward to seeing the result.
  18. I remember this game because when I first played Ultima VII I simply could not get it, no matter how many times I tried. Chuckles used to drive me nuts. It was only after going back to the game a few years later, I got it first time. Yeah, I'm a bit surprised there weren't more people here who knew it, but I guess it shows just how old Ultima VII is now (though still great). Thanks for the cookies.
  19. Munich to Copenhagen is about 12-13 hours, as I've a friend who did this recently. The best place to find out is probably the Die Bahn web site, the German railway but good for most of Europe, I think.
  20. Visas appears after you get a certain number of alignment shift points, either DS or LS. You get a cut scene that shows , then the next time you enter the Ebon Hawk on one of the four main quest planets, she'll be there. If you play your character as consistently LS or DS, the cut scene usually triggers on Telos, although she doesn't arrive until you're on a main planet.
  21. You made a Kotor 2 movie? Is there a link?
  22. Darth Traya, no contest. I think she could have been written with a bit more subtlety, but she's still by far the most interesting evil on that list.
  23. Oops! I saw that. You broke the rule! But the game can be hard to play. You have to watch and think.
  24. As far as I know, they're only restoring cut content, but there's a lot of it. They also seem to be completing things that are there but incomplete - for example, there's a character with quests and dialogue in the cut content but without the sound files, so they auditioned for someone to record her voice. I'm holding off replaying Kotor 2 until the mod comes out.
  25. When I read this thread, I thought of that great old game. I'm glad you thought of the same game, too. I don't play it much now, but I still love it.
