  1. Is it Easter? Seriously?
  2. Sadly, no Mysteries of Westgate yet. Apparently the necessary changes didn't make it into this patch, and will have to wait until the next one.
  3. Okay, I think I've had enough of the Democrats destroying each other and handing the Whitehouse to the Republicans now. I was looking forward to a real, serious, intelligent and high-minded contest between McCain and whoever opposes him, but it will be a terrible waste of an opportunity if the Democrats implode before then.
  4. Yes, if you live in the UK or Ireland. Otherwise it's blocked, as is the link to Mitchell & Webb (one of my favourite comedy duos) in your signature, you cold-hearted meanie!
  5. They should hold all the primaries etc. over the summer, the conventions in September, then 6 weeks of campaigning and the vote in November. Spreading it out over a year (or eighteen months, it seems like with this one) is just painful.
  6. Yep, I think it's about time. Or long after time, perhaps? Locked for getting off-topic.
  7. The debate about whether Doctor Who or Stargate SG-1 is the longest running sci-fi show is long and tortuous. It all depends on how you define 'longest', i.e. total years, consecutive years, total episodes, total seasons, episode length, total screen time etc.
  8. No baiting, I assure you, just answering the question. China has said openly it will attack Taiwan should the island pursue formal independence - I believe it even has a law requiring it to.
  9. To attack Taiwan, of course.
  10. Does the article mention whether the dialogue is voiced yet?
  11. I remember this - I think I was in Japan at the time of the sale. Of course, a few people suspected something was going on, but at that time the story focused not on what the Chinese were going to do with the thing, but on how rundown and cash-starved the Russian military was that they needed to sell it.
  12. On balance, pruning would require removing so much material, including some of the early debate about Mass Effect that is interesting if rather off-topic, I'd rather not do that. So I'll close the thread and invite anyone who wishes to discuss Mass Effect to do so in the Computer and Console forum, and anyone who wishes to discuss character creation and customisation in Alpha Protocol to start a new thread here.
  13. Edit: There's a solution to this mentioned in the faq. Go back to save game from before you enter the academy. Then "when entering the Academy, first ask who they are. Dropping your weapons immediately actually causes this bug to happen." There also used to be a fix downloadable from the Restoration Project's website, but they've removed it because their mod is so near release.
  14. Does the Enhanced version of the game come in the form of a large patch, or do I have to download the whole game afresh?
  15. Being chased by armed enemy agents through a crowded underground train - has that been done in a game before? Public transport holds many interesting possibilities.
  16. If this is turning into a general discussion on how good or bad Mass Effect is, there are some threads over in the Computer and Console forum of which this is only one, or you could start a new one. I hope they don't have a formal 'character creation' screen at the start of the game. I'm always interested in what alternative ways there are of creating your character - like the fortune teller in Ultima or even the prison escape in Oblivion.
  17. I think the solution to people re-loading when they 'fail' a diplomacy or other check is to make the consequences of failure just as interesting as, but very different from, the consequences of success. Failure is always good for a hero - it reduces smugness.
  18. Actually, Alan Partridge started in On The Hour on Radio 4, the show upon which The Day Today was based. You can hear it on BBC7 most weeks. Here's this week's.
  19. Perhaps you need bigger, more noticeable signs? You could buy them with all the money the tourists spend on the Metro.
  20. There should be more cushions in the world.
  21. There are no winners in twister. I'm reinstalling NWN2 and MOTB, ready to play through with the new patch.
  22. Closed for getting off topic.
  23. Funny enough to avoid pruning, but let's get back on topic, eh? If no-one has anything much to say, let the thread lie dormant for a week or two.
  24. Thanks, that's somewhat reassuring. I did manage Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines reasonably well, after all. It would be quite nice if they could, in addition to the normal difficulty slider, they had an FPS/RPG slider - the more you push the slider over towards FPS, the more accuracy depends on player skill, and vice-versa.
  25. According to Chris Parker, quoted on briosafreak's blog: "We knew we wanted to do something different. Something that didn
