  1. The idea of using the camera to show you the protagonist's reaction, rather than what the protagonist herself sees, might be difficult to make work in a game. As a player, you control both the protatonist and usually the camera, except in cut-scenes. An unseen and unidentifiable enemy could work I guess, and build a sense of tension, maybe. In Planescape: Torment there were times when I felt my enemy was my previous incarnation, as time after time I came across the aftermath of his actions. It was engrossing, certainly - though I'm not sure it was ever 'tense' as such.
  2. On balance, I probably agree with you that this is one of the better options. However, I think that making Revan and the Exile playable or alive is doable. Obsidian showed with Kotor 2 how you could take the two very different endings of Kotor 1 (Revan leading a conquering Sith fleet vs. Revan saviour of the Republic) and work the story so that the outcome is the same. Similarly, for Kotor 3, you could have DS Revan leads the True Sith or LS Revan falls to the dark side and leads the True Sith - outcome is the same. Doable? Yes. But desirable? I'm not convinced. There's a danger of having so many loose ends to tie off and so much backstory to square, there's no room to tell a new and engaging story, and Kotor 3 needs that above all.
  3. This looks pretty serious. I doubt it's a conventional bug - it might be a hardware fault with your drive or the CD might be faulty. Is D: your hard drive or CD-ROM?
  4. LucasFilm probably think millions will watch it whether its fantastic or dire. Can't imagine where they got that idea. Is there an expected date for the series to air in the US? I suppose Sky will buy it for the UK pretty soon after.
  5. Thanks. I hope something really comes of it.
  6. You should get major DS points. In fact, most intelligent creatures that you fight would surrender before you killed them - then the choice is to finish them off or spare them. But it would take time to implement that into a game, and players might get bored with it. If I were designing a Star Wars game, I would make sure that most of the battles were with monsters like cannok or zakrek (zagreg?), and fights with people were fewer, harder, and plot-related. You could even have the choice of escorting defeated characters to prison, or recruiting some of them into your party (temporarily or permanently).
  7. I had a friend who had worms. He didn't understand why it was he felt the urge to eat a massive great steak every evening. Then one day he went to the toilet, felt something strange, started pulling, and just kept on pulling and pulling until it all came out. Deworm. You know it makes sense.
  8. It's a lovely thought: LucasArts executives wading through pages and pages of our helpful/not so helpful comments about Kotor 2 and suggestions for Kotor 3. The ultimate revenge - plus while they're busy doing that, they can't interfere with the developers working on LucasArts games. Everybody wins!
  9. Do you have a link for the company, or for the source of the info? Thanks. It is good news, but I wouldn't quite go that far.
  10. Luke Skywalker, at 82%. Hmmmm. You are most like Luke Skywalker. Charismatic, loyal, diplomatic and brave. You helped the alliance defeat your father Darth Vader and the empire, offering your hated father guidance back to the light. Once defeated, you forgave him without a second thought. You train in the lightsaber form Shien/Djem So which channels your opponents offense, and your defense, into attacks against them. You believe in aggressive defense. A pillar of light in a dark time, you helped to re-establish the republic and rebuild the Jedi Order.
  11. I think it's all got something to do with G0-T0's backstory, and involves the swoop-racing droid as well. I never really triggered everything, because I think there were some things you had to do before G0T0's yacht, and some after, and I don't really like G0-T0 anyway, but you can probably find something on gamefaqs.com that will give you it step by step.
  12. You know, I went by the title and never even bothered to open this thread. Look at all the spam fun I've missed.
  13. This is a cardboard thing with a stand, right? Right? Not a real statue, right? One might appreciate the craftsmanship of a replica Yoda, but a cheap toy one is more fun for cuddling/throwing.
  14. Concealing the weapons that have been pictured in this thread would be quite an achievement. But then, considering the McDonalds thread...
  15. From what's been written before, it looks like your game has become a bit unstable. If you're stuck in that room, then the cutscene with Atton has failed to trigger. You might use the savegame editor to trigger it (don't ask me how), but as this is the second time you've got stuck, it will probably happen again and again. Are you using a PC or XBox? If you're using a PC, I would suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the game, update to the latest version, and start again from the beginning. It's fun! Pick a new sex, even.
  16. And yet millions of kids love it. Millions of kids with money (or at least, kids with parents with money). Kotor 3 might use some of the planets from the new TV series, if it's successful. Free advertising and all that.
  17. I'm not sure that 'high class' is the right description, at least in some countries I know. It's seen as exotic and new, and more popular with young people. That said, yes it is expensive and so going there with the kids can be a status thing, but I don't think people actually rate the cuisine highly. I prefer Mosburgers.
  18. We're not allowed to answer that question until you post it in the right forum.
  19. Kotor 2 was similar to Planescape: Torment, but then, most stories are recycled in one way or another. I thought they made it work well for the Star Wars setting - in fact, they made Star Wars more interesting by applying some concepts and ambiguities that are actually more interesting, to me at least. Kotor 2 was a flawed masterpiece, not a failure. It just needed a bit more time/effort to make the storytelling coherent and get the ending right. It will be a challenge for any developer other than Obsidian to create Kotor 3 and incorporate elements of Kotor 2 successfully. I foresee some major simplifications, and I doubt Kreia will even get a mention.
  20. I'm sending one now. It has a few of the minor mods from the TSL Restoration Project installed, so I hope it works with yours.
  21. This looks familiar. Didn't I just read this on another forum? Obsidian already have two big projects underway - NWN2 and New Jersey. If LucasArts came along and offered them Kotor 3, what should they do? It would mean a sudden expansion - lots of new staff, three games at once, the loss of feeling of a small developer - but it would be guaranteed income for a new and small company. A very hard call, but on balance, it would make more sense to turn it down and focus on building your reputation with the two projects already underway.
  22. No, you're quite right. Why is Obsidian allowing posts on Kotor 3 on its forums? Perhaps they've been asked to, by a company which is secretly developing Kotor 3 already and wants to keep the 'Kotor' community interested and intact. But that's pure speculation. I would love to get a reliable source for how many units are sold of any game, and how much money is made, but I'm not aware of one that's publicly available. Nevertheless, it's the received wisdom that action/shooting/killing games sell much more than RPGs. It's possible that a second-rate action game will make more money for a company than a Game-Of-The-Year RPG, particularly if the latter is a sequel. If LucasArts has decided to focus on producing fewer games, then maybe Kotor 3 has been shelved, if not permanently, then for several years.
  23. Yuthura Ban, the second-in-command at the Korriban Academy, who apparently was slated to be a party member at some point in the development of the game, though this didn't make the final cut.
  24. Otherwise. T3 is powerful and deadly. Watch him blast his way through G0-T0's yacht. And he at least seems guaranteed for Kotor 3 (should it ever get made).
  25. I don't remember the exact conversation between Mandalore and Kreia, but you might be right. Nevertheless, he's the leader of his people, and it doesn't make sense for him to wander off with the Exile, to me at least. Why not invite Queen Talia or General Vaklu along while we're at it?
