Why wouldn't he? Do you think the president would pardon him (if that's allowed)? A commentator on the BBC was suggesting 20+ years if he was found guilty on all charges. This is for perjury, after all.

Tony Blair doesn't have the political capital to finish a donut. He never really had a reform plan at all, or at least, he had the start of a plan, but not the end. We have an independent judiciary already (and a largely apolitical one), and Tony Blair hates it because it strikes down a lot of his knee-jerk anti-terrorist legislation. I appreciate that the US is a federation, but so many of these controversial issues seem to have come to federal level already. Maybe the US needs a law to re-devolve more of these decisions to the states.

If the US political system weren't so choked up by checks, balances and pork that laws can't get passed, the Supreme Court wouldn't be so important. Instead you would have a proper abortion law, passed by Congress, that was a compromise; you would have a law on civil partnerships for gays, but not marriages; you would have reasonable guns laws that regulated gun ownership in cities with high gun crime, but was more relaxed elsewhere, and so on. You probably wouldn't have so many people taking extreme positions on these issues either. Instead, the left and right spend the whole time shouting at each other and can't talk to each other for long enough to thrash out practical compromises, so it's left to the judges to make the important decisions. Of course you have judges legislating from the bench - if Congress won't resolve these issues, someone has to. That's my outsider's view anyway. Feel free to shoot it down.

I can't see why it would be a big hit, but children are rather unpredictable, so who knows? Maybe South Park will be next.

Don't even think about getting VtM: Bloodlines unless your PC has 1Gb RAM. Forget the minimum requirements on the box, 1Gb is what you need.

This game has particular problems with certain video cards. Have you tried a search for the name of your card, to see if someone on the forum has found a solution? It seems there are a small number of people who've genuinely been unable to play the game even with all the tweaks and fixes that have been discovered, but most get it working in the end. Don't give up - the game, though far from perfect, is worth it.

KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
SteveThaiBinh replied to Fionavar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
"Release before development," shouted the Queen of Hearts. I see Bastila as Alice, and Vandar as the dormouse. -
The Quest for Glory series' last game, QfG5: Dragonfire, just scrapes into your time frame with a 1998 release. The five games taken together are an epic RPG, and terrific fun to play, though the graphics are outdated now.

Isn't this the whole point of giving Supreme Court judges jobs for life? It should free them of any obligation to pay back their nominator and make them truly independent. If that doesn't work, maybe it's time to appoint these judges for fixed terms instead. When there was all that trouble over John Bolton (?) getting approval from the senate to become ambassador to the UN, it was resolved by the senate going off on holiday and the president just appointing him anyway. Can that happen with Supreme Court nominees as well?

Cheater. -1 point for cheating. Yes, the first is the other one I thought of, when Kreia's talking about how Atton blocks your Jedi mind-reading. I don't know why, but the way she spat out 'indignities' seems to have stuck in my head. However, the second one is said by the Exile, not Kreia, so -1 point for that, leading to a grand total of -1 out of 2. Well done.
-
I'm ahead of my time - I'm already obsolete.
-
Gruesome. :D I kind of meant more like One point to Battlecookiee. That's the occurrence of 'indignities' that I'm sure of, but I think there was another one, if memory serves. Anyone?
-
A little more detail, please?

If you add to the above list, asking Atton a little about his 'Echani training' at Atris' Academy, but not pushing the issue, will net you another influence gain. You should arrive at Nar Shaddaa, your first planet, with three influence gains in the bag, and only need another one or two in order to jedify Atton. Influence with him can be gained easily by saving the guy who's being menaced by thugs in the main area, or curing the guy who thinks he's got plague. Then he's ready for jedification. The problem with Handmaiden and Visas is that it's easy to gain influence with Visas very quickly when she's just joined the crew. The secret is to hold off exploring all your possible dialogue options with her until after a fight or two with handmaiden, so that there's no big gap between their influence levels. Once you've got the 'I have nothing to discuss with you' line from Handmaiden, there's no way to reverse it short of starting the game again. And it's definitely worth playing again at least once, although I'd go for playing a female next time if the second is definitely your last playthrough.

Here's one: In which context (s) does Kreia refer to 'indignities'?

Since any ban requires that there be some form of authority to uphold it, doesn't banning authority create a paradox? Don't you realise that creating a paradox may cause the universe to cease to exist? I can't believe how cavalier you people are. Yet another near miss on the Obsidian forums.
-
It looks like an easter egg indeed. Yet the question remains, why specifically a nun? Is there a closet wimple-fetishist at Obsidian? What impact will this have on NWN2 and PNJ? Is there a connection with Michael Chu's sudden resignation?

Not guilty. I had to hold myself back from listing twenty point-and-click adventures. Perhaps if the original poster would draw up a shortlist, we could discuss those games in more detail?

You mean it actually just sits there calculating moves and so on? I don't see any reason why this should take longer than it did with Civ3, unless the AI has been dramatically improved. With Civ3 most of the time was taken with animating opponents' moves, and you could turn that off or switch out of the window while it was doing it. That's a thought - does Civ4 continue to play through opponents' moves when you Ctrl+Esc or whatever and do something else?

Ooh, that sounds worryingly similar to my computer. How is it possible that I can play Fable and Vampire: The Masquerade fine, and have trouble with a turned-based strategy. I hope this is a temporary problem.

I know the feeling. :">

It is possible to get only LS or only DS shifts. Try different conversation options, and try getting out of the conversation as soon as possible, so you can tell which options lead to LS or DS shifts. If you have exactly the same number of LS and DS shifts, they will exactly cancel each other out. If you have more LS than DS, you'll get 'Net LS shift'. Oh, and gamefaqs.com probably has a detailed guide.

The Longest Journey Gabriel Knight 1, 2 and 3 Europa 1400: The Guild According to the adventuregamers.com forum, Discworld 1 and 2 are about to become freeware. They're definitely worth playing.

Wasn't there a muppet called Scooter? Within reason, anything that's bad for Bush is good news. I just hope we don't get incessant exhaustive coverage of every moment of it on every news programme.
