  1. If I put my desktop PC and TFT monitor in a suitcase, do they become a portable computer? The suitcase has wheels, if that helps.
  2. Thanks for your help, everyone. Every two years when I upgrade or buy a new computer, it seems that what little I ever knew about computer components is obsolete already. I checked, and Windows says I've got an AGP 8X. Is that good enough, or should I be upgrading/switching to this PCI-Express? That would mean changing the motherboard, I suppose, which I'd rather not do. But the PCI-Express cards all seem to be much cheaper (for the same card) than the AGP cards. Why is this? If the ATI 800 doesn't support fancy thingies for NWN2, then I'd like to try to get something that does, if it's possible with my budget. I found something on my local retailer's website calling itself the "GeForce 6800Ultra 8x AGP DVI TV Out Graphics Card", for just over
  3. I might. Hypothetically speaking, if a person had no idea whether he had an AGP 4x/8x socket, or indeed PCI or PCI express, how might he find this out?
  4. I have (I think) a P4 2.6Ghz, with 1GB RAM, so I'm assuming that the graphics card, a lowly GeForce FX 5200, is the weakest link and am hoping to upgrade it. A brief look at a retailer's website reveals too many cards available for for me to get my head round at the moment. Can anyone recommend a good card for about
  5. Suitable for cold climates or air-conditioned environments only. Dry clean only, I suppose. Next year someone will be running a marathon in it.
  6. In order to tie up all the loose ends from Kotors 1 and 2, it's probably best to have the two characters together so you can deal with them quickly, then get on with a new and original story. On the other hand, it may be several years before Kotor 3 is made (if it ever is), so perhaps people won't be so interested in continuing with the same characters.
  7. Take Two has just bought Firaxis, the developer of Civ4. I suppose the first expansion pack will feature a 'drive-by shooter' unit, functioning something like a pirate from Civ3, that you can send into enemy territory to take pot-shots at its cities.
  8. Spiderman 2 was a good movie, but nowhere near good enough to justify some of the rave reviews I read. It's left me a bit leery of seeing Batman Begins, though I'll probably end up renting the DVD at some point. I try to be as tolerant of the acting in this kind of movie as I can, and unless it's truly awful (Keanu) I don't notice it. Usually the dialogue is the problem at the root of bad acting in blockbuster movies.
  9. Can people with alt accounts vote twice? If so, that would make every poll on the forum invalid (more than before, even).
  10. I rarely notice the mods. Hopefully, they rarely notice me.
  11. That's very good advice. Hey! In other news, I managed to build the Sistine Chapel today, and the movie took me inside to have a look at the ceiling, so I'm liking the movies more as a result. I'm also enjoying religion more than I thought I would - I suspect it will help to make each game feel different even after playing several times.
  12. It's worth playing all the way through once. Probably just the once, though, then read about the alternative endings on the internet.
  13. Not even in France? I'd have thought the language protection laws would let lots of French Canadian productions in.
  14. That was my first character, too. They're rebels with a cause (anarchy) rather than pure melee thugs, or so they come across to me. I chose that class first because I'm always afraid of playing a non-fighter character and getting stuck on the combat first time through. I probably enjoyed played a Toreador most - second time through.
  15. I'm having difficulty getting the introduction music from Civilization IV out of my head. It sounds a lot like Adiemus - does anyone know for sure? I'm very impressed with their soundtrack music selection, especially from the modern era.
  16. I'm a meanie. Recognising the problem means you're halfway to the cure already. We'll have you watching decent movies in no time.
  17. As if anything could be. This kind of thing happens all the time - they take disaster movies off just after there's been a disaster, although it doesn't seem to affect the minor channels that no-one watches. If they don't take it off, people complain that it's in poor taste, but if they do take it off, others complain that the TV companies aren't treating the audience like grown-ups.
  18. I didn't see Terminator 3, and all the people who did should be feeling ashamed right about now, because it's your fault that Terminator 4 is even being considered.
  19. You shouldn't feel that you need to do that. If someone puts their first post in the wrong forum or breaks other forum guidelines, it's OK to point that out, but otherwise we should be welcoming and positive (and keep the forum in-jokes to a minimum, as they have the opposite effect).
  20. I like them, too. However, there should be greater variety, not just 'from blueprints to construction'. Some work better than others, and the Statue of Liberty is a bit annoying because I think it was crafted in France then shipped out to the US, not built from scratch in its place. Correct me if I'm wrong, of course. By the way, the game is really good.
  21. Will they last, though? Best of luck and everything to them, but the turnover rate for mods is creeping upwards, it seems to me. Where do they all come from? Where do they go?
  22. What about "Of all the forums in all the world, she had to spam into mine."?
  23. That was fun. Can we impeach Mr. Bush now? How do we even do that?
  24. Always. Unless you've already taken off the plastic wrap, you might be able to return it as unwanted, then buy another one next door.
