  1. Don't you find it dull? I think you do, as you've obviously tried very hard to cover up as much as you can with the unnecessarily large wall chart and the little pictures and so on, but the underlying blandness still oozes through. This room is crying out for colour, or potted plants at the very least. Those doors really are unnervingly high. They must be difficult to open with so much air resistance. Perhaps it's an earthquake-proofing feature?
  2. You're correct. 'The two events aren't mutually exclusive.' = 'It's possible that both are true.' (I get confused by flammable, inflammable and uninflammable. )
  3. Even if the story had been true, I wouldn't be very excited. It's not as if these new elements are truly discovered, in that they exist somewhere in nature. They're just forced to exist in extreme conditions for fractions of a second. Are they even useful for anything? I thought the post was very funny, by the way.
  4. Oh, for heaven's sake, I'm sorry I brought up Jade Empire's sales. Wasn't this discussed at length on another thread? It was just my ill-informed speculation. I'm still wondering why an independent developer with enough money and reputation to finance and publish its own games would surrender some of that independence, unless it has money problems.
  5. So you're suggesting a straight swap, Hades_One for Tony Blair? We might need some time to think about that.
  6. Oh sure, so the US invented rioting, did it? I'll have you know that we Europeans were rioting when (Native) Americans were still living in peace and harmony with nature. That's how advanced we are.
  7. There were suggestions that Jade Empire hadn't sold that well, at least not enough given the cost of development. Maybe Bioware were headed for financial trouble and needed a way out. Or am I overestimating the impact on a developer of one game that sells a bit less than was hoped?
  8. This is the kind of thing that makes me nervous. There are people out there who actually talk like that. I hope they leave Bioware alone to continue making quality short games and expensive expansion packs.
  9. I haven't seen Episode III. I was considering renting/buying the DVD, but Attack of the Clones was on TV last night. I think I'll wait until the price is reduced.
  10. Unfortunately, this is probably true, since the Democrats are in the minority in Congress. However, if they can paralyse his administration into complete inactivity for the next three years, so much the better. On the other hand, this kind of thing might just galvanise Republicans to rally to Bush's side, instead of distancing themselves as they appeared to be doing before. Is it a good move by the Democrats? Do they ever make good moves?
  11. Go ahead and send me the questionnaires, and I can probably get them done today. To get my informed consent, you need to inform (remind? :"> ) me of the purpose of the study and the use to which my data will be put. You also need to tell me who will have access to the data and whether it will be linked to my name.
  12. Constant Gaw is a name? Your office has bland decor and high doors. Just thought I'd mention it.
  13. I volunteered, I think, and provided it's not some psychometric nonsense with four hundred questions asking whether I prefer helicopters or skipping, I'm still in. Don't forget to secure my informed consent.
  14. Another month, another new mod. We're achieving a rather high turnover rate here, guys. Let's try to keep this one. Oh, and hello, Tarna.
  15. I noticed that it was more heavily trailed than the others (gates and cut-scenes were involved, I believe), but not that it was any bigger. It could have something to do with the fact that I find Malachor V deathly dull, both visually and from the point of view of the character development and NPC involvement coming to a shuddering halt, so I play through it as quickly as possible and wake up only when I get to Sion. Never.
  16. If they have a demo, I'll play. It's always good to come across something that so completely different from anything you've tried before. They should release it in the UK as 'The Archers online'.
  17. Oh my God! Can we catch Bird Flu on the internet now? Someone should tell the tabloids.
  18. I have a theorem too. For any point X, any other point that isn't at any point other than point X is at point X and is therefore point X. When do I get my page at Wikipedia?
  19. Is that their job? To make Christian entertainment? Hollywood has always made challenging movies that upset all sorts of people, as well as lots of dross that plays to the middle ground and upsets no-one. The latter seems to be in the ascendency at the moment. However, some people just like being upset. It used to be the case that Hollywood movies recovered their production costs and made a profit based on US cinema tickets sold, with any international sales a bonus. Now they depend on doing well in Europe and Japan, and on video/DVD. Is that influencing them in a way that US conservatives dislike? It will play well in Europe, where exploration of the issue of terrorism is seen as interesting and useful. People feel instinctively that the Bush approach of painting all terrorists as evil fiends plotting our destruction for kicks is wrong, but aren't sure how to achieve a more nuanced and balanced understanding. If this film deals with such issues in an intelligent way, I'll be going to see it.
  20. It's mainly a bug-fix patch, and I wasn't one of the unlucky ones who encountered serious bugs before the patch was released, so it had no effect on my experience. I haven't tried out the media/music patches yet, but I'm looking forward to it, when I find the time.
  21. Or legal? No, sue them. I know someone was prosecuted recently for spam. Have there been any prosecutions for spyware? I can foresee this being a disaster for sony, with lots of innocent users deleting the files by accident and having problems playing legitimate CDs. They'll complain to the newspapers, and Sony will be forced to apologise and withdraw the system, having wasted millions of pounds on it. It couldn't happen to nicer people.
  22. I did see a US commentator on TV saying that Wilson went around parties in Washington introducing her as 'my CIA wife'. However, when challenged, he admitted that this wasn't something he had witnessed himself, but something he had heard someone else say Wilson was doing. It might even have been third- or fourth-hand information. It sounds like a smear campaign to me. I'd wait for actual evidence, rather than believe conservative pundits whose modus operandi is to muddy the issue to get their guy off the hook.
  23. Not as a spectator sport, at least not in my part of the world. I only watch it at the Olympics, where it's fun to see the US losing. Doesn't the sound of the constantly bouncing ball get on your nerves? It's worse than table tennis.
  24. It was taken out during development. The manual is wrong, I'm afraid. Don't worry - you'll never really miss it.
  25. My reading of that would be that alt accounts are allowed. Not that I see much use for one. And AA/Meta, we're still waiting for a link to this new book.
