  1. I already see that no-one is interested in my ideas so I'll just shut up. I played PS:T with its radial menu. I won't lose any sleep just because yet another game has clunky and illogical UI layout.
  2. I'm sorry, but your classification is strange and isn't functional. Just because a game isn't "interesting" (which is very subjective) doesn't mean it's an ARPG. NWN and its expansions had sub-par content but here we're talking about UI. I mentioned NWN because its UI was a precursor for DA:O UI. It was worse but they were heading in the right direction.
  3. That's what we had in D:OS and I don't think anyone complained. However, the problem with D:OS UI is that you have to switch between bars which is also a nonsense design from stone age. Just make it one bar with 10 slots by default but make it resizable. Then everyone can get what they want.
  4. I know and I'm not a clicker. What I'm saying is that a party of 6 * average 20 abilities per character = 120 abiltiies. Add consumables and you have a lot of stuff to remember. I want to see everything that I think is relevant on my screen any time I select a character. Being old school doesn't mean keeping all those annoying old school UI drawbacks like limited action bars.
  5. That's good. Log/chat window on the left is also good.
  6. Yeah, then NWN was an ARPG too. You see, PoE UI is worse than NWN:HotU UI... The composition mostly - it wastes vertical real estate for no reason. But speaking of parts - where is my minimap?
  7. Honestly, I don't like it. Why do we have to place everyone at the bottom? It made sense back in the 4:3 era but now it's 16:9 (actually I'm lucky to have a great 16:10 screen but many people aren't as lucky and I can feel their pain). My suggestion: portraits on the side (left or right - doesn't matter), all these useless icons (inventory, log, etc.) somewhere on top and preferably hideable because nobody ever clicks on them anyway. And at the bottom? Only chat log and customizable action bar.
  8. PoE UI is currently quite underwhelming and you can't fix it with a minor rearrangement of elements. I think that DA:O UI is nearly perfect. Add chat/combat log window and it's perfect. This biggest issue is the action bar. I may be wrong but from what I've seen so far I guess it's not customizable. Do I have to mouseover "1st level wizard spells" icon every time I want to see what I have there? If yes - great, we're back to the 1990s and not in a good sense. I want my action bar to be resizable. I want to be able to add rows. And I don't want any sub-bars (i.e. mouseover a category to see its contents - it's just lazy design). I want to handpick the abilities/consumables for action bar and I want them all to be instantly visible whenever I select the character.
  9. By core team I mean the four rangers. And yes you gimped them because Cha is useless. The rest of your post is just you trying too hard to misinterpret my words. 3/10 (for the effort). Try again. /yawn
  10. I just loaded my old Awakening save (@level 35). Now I look at long action bars completely filled with skills and consumables... and realize that I have no idea what any of those icons is supposed to do... /laugh
  11. 1. Endgame stuff. I just entered Hollywood (and now waiting for patch 3 to hopefully fix bugs there) and I don't have G41 yet. 2,3. Yes. I developed "social" skills ahead of everything else because a tough skill check you can always save for later but conversation options disappear if you can't use them immediately. 4. Almost. Toasters were easy because I had Ralphy. 5. I got peaceful solution in RNC but I think the quest chain was bugged - some parts never triggered. E.g. there should be a kidnapping at some point but it never happened. 6. I pretended to side with DBM (after wiping all their ambushes but didn't kill any monks. I sneaked through the Temple and didn't kill anyone there either. Also I agreed to get the nuke for monks but instead I disarmed it. 7. I don't think you get any extra quests but you can get some weapons. Nothing really great though. --- Melee isn't necessary. Theoretically, brawling is the best source of damage after maybe level 30. But at level 30 you have great gear and, most importantly, so many HP that slightly higher damage output doesn't matter.
  12. G41 is the best AR (tier 6-2). Average damage for all weapons: https://forums.inxile-entertainment.com//viewtopic.php?f=40&t=9765 I made two chars with Int 10 and two with Int 4. That's more than enough to max all skills by level 30 especially if you go AG route and get Rose.
  13. G41 burst headshot does more damage (on average) than GRB burst. And its optimal range (with tactical scope) is longer than GRB max range. GRB is good because you get it early when nothing else can compete with it. But it's also unique and all other EW don't even come close to it. Conclusion: you want one character with EW skill to utilize GRB but beyond that EW suck.
  14. And this makes perfect sense. The new system is a huge disappointment. If they'll force me to buy combat and non-combat skills with the same points pool, I'll take combat skills any day of the week. Unless, of course, there are no combat skills worth taking.
  15. A bit too low for this encounter. I did it on Ranger @35 and it was easy.
  16. Part 1 - around 17:30. You can see a guy walking in the lower right corner of the screen and his shadow doesn't start at his feet as if he were levitating very slightly above the ground. Part 1 - 18:10. Messages in combat log start overlapping each other. From this point onward the log is barely legible. --- This is still Backer Late Alpha. I hope we'll see Backer Beta this year because the clock is ticking and I'm sure no-one is looking forward towards another bug-ridden KS release like D:OS or WL2.
  17. Selection circles are thin but they'd be visible if nothing (except character models) could interfere with them. In Sensuki's screenshot it's clearly visible that blood partially obsures selection circles. That's bad. IMO nothing, not even spell VFX, should do that. Characters blending with environments too much is a known issue (I wonder if they'll be able to fix it completely). And yes, blood should be more red.
  18. IWD EE uses the same version of Infinity Engine as other enhanced editions so combat animations are there:
  19. Indeed. It's essentially a progress bar and horizontal progress bars are more convenient.
  20. I agree that characters who aren't attacking anything should have actual idle animation. It makes perfect sense and should be very easy to implement (since it's the same idle animation you have out of combat). There's no reason for Obsidian to ignore this suggestions because it's a visible improvement at minimal cost.
  21. No it's not. Morover the latest poll results show that that kill XP proponents are nothing but a vocal minority.
  22. 3D model snapshot portraits always look terrible. I don't mind them being an option (like in WL2) but that would be an option I'd never use.
  23. I absolutely love this idea and I have a suggestion about how it could be implemented. When I played WoW one of the addons I used was Cooldown Count. Essentially it's a rectangle with a set of progress bars representing cooldowns you want to monitor. As an ability cools the corresponding bar goes from full to empty and you can make them auto-sort so that the next available ability is always the topmost. I think something like that would be a perfect replacement for overhead bars (which are so ugly I'm going to turn them off even if there's no replacement at all). The only difference is that instead of ability cooldowns you'll monitor characters cooldowns.
  24. "Excitable little fellow," said Gandalf, as they sat down again. "Gets funny queer fits, but he is one of the best, one of the best-as fierce as a dragon in a pinch." Sorry, just couldn't resist.
