I'm at chapter 5 now, things are really speeding up. Oh and the plottwist in chapter 4? For the first time i knew it before it happened (not just prior, but directly after chapter 1), a slight dissapointment there for me.
-
Well, well, i've 11 hours in and i'm at chapter 3, wandering the around the streets of Imperial City. While there's several occasions when you can role-play your character through dialogue-options (maybe even more than KotOR) it's not the "WTF OMG!!!11"-game that some people keep raving about. Sure the combat is fun, but i don't play games for the combat. So far, it feels more like an adventure game with RPG-elements, not that it's necessarily a bad thing. Pro's: - Combat - Art direction - Graphics - Some hilarious party members Con's: - Linear, way more than KotOR so far, think Final Fantasy X - The whole setting and feel (IMO) - Music, instead of moving, it's just there for most of the time - Customization and inventory I will not say anything about the story yet, but i smell some BG to it. Hopefully it will turn out to the greater. //EDIT: Sorry, this was meant for the other thread.

I can recall Feargus saying "Patch coming in this week" in begin to half March, so don't count on it... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, they said the patch is complete, I'm sure it's also tested (hm, I think it was testing with the just released patch, so there will be no problem with LucasArts), so, like they said, they just have to "build" it and it will be out. I bet sunday or monday. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> When Morgan said that they need to build it, i think that he meant that they haven't done the installer yet.

TSL Restoration Project: Work in Progress
Meshugger replied to Aurora's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Exactly the time when it's done -
Yup! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nice, looking forward to it ...and add all that to the restoration mod, goodies!

The "High Quality movies" are too big for this patch and are going to be put into their own patch which should be up in just a day or two (everything's done, just need to build them). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Great =) But what about the high quality music? This did not show up in the Update Log of my version (same with the movies) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> +1 Same here, i sure didn't encountered any better quality in the movies/music.

NWN is a whole another story, since modding is endorsed by Bioware themselves. Star Wars and TSL is the intellectual property of Lucasarts and they allow NO modding whatsoever, even if it would enhance the storyline. Even if it would make them look like selfish morons in the general gamers eyes, they have the lawful right to do so. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> True, but IF Lucasarts would go to such lengths to close down Auroras project. There will literally be hell to pay. I doubt fans and modders will allow it to happen. I know I won't. I'm not saying they will but stranger things have happened... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nah, they would probably just go underground and people would talk about "the restored" version of it, avoiding the word "mod".

That's a personal opinion. I like foddle around with my equipment, letting the game doint it for me takes away some of the role-playing.
-
you know, people also talks 'bout how they completed kotor in 12 hours or some similar figure. Gromnir tooks 40+ hours to play kotor, and is not like we got arthritis or is a quadriplegic that gotta use our mouth and a long straw to prod the controller... am not sure how folks can complain

I've read from some reviews that you can complete the game within 16-17 hours, sidequests included. It seems like Bioware got the story, graphics and sound correctly, but failed at character customization, inventory and length.

TSL Restoration Project: Work in Progress
Meshugger replied to Aurora's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
A somewhat silly question: What happens when Obsidian's patch is released? Do have to re-do the whole thing again? -
I remember when a System Shock 2-mod (with the Doom 3 engine) was shut down by EA since they own the rights of Looking Glass property. Not only the game is not for sale anymore, they simply closed it out of principle.

While it's nice that the mod gets some recongition, i wonder how much Lucasarts will tolerate before turning on the break.

Congrats Aurora! And keep up the good work, there's no need for a rush-job

What would you say when killing someone?
Meshugger replied to OrganisedChaos's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Whenever my character hears "Muucho chaka paka", he goes Mace Windu on them: "INTERGALACTIC BASIC MOTHERF*CKER! DO YOU SPEAK IT?!" -
That wasn't my point. With a mandatory draft, patriotism willl fade away, since no has the greater "honor" than the other. In a society where people are rewarded as heroes for joining the army, will sooner or later evolve into a classbased society in terms of nationalism and patriotism. I never said that military action will be avoided, the point was that the goverment will think have more at stake when there's a draft. This only works ofcourse if the goverment is democratic, otherwise it's redundant.
-
In the year 2001 i presume. I remember reading the PC Format magazines a decade ago, when System Shock 2 scored 92%(1999), it was something like the 12th game that scored above 90% since 1992.
-
Um, no. Drafting is a source of social discomfort. And making it mandatory would cheapen that duty as well. If you don't believe in what your country stands for, you shouldn't be forced to serve it, if we are to believe in individual freedom. But on the other hand, being a patriot is for many a badge of honor. Serving in the army is the ultimate proof of patriotism, I think, since it means you are willing to give your life for your country. Not as much for the State or the government, but for the people. In my opinion it's fair to reward such a selfless attitude. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't see it that way at all. A draft for everyone will strengthen society as a whole, since everyone has served their country. It gives the people the mentality that no one is the better patriot than the other, thus eliminating the possibility to grade civilians as second-grade citizens. Also, the military will no longer play its role a tool of the goverment's aggressive politics, since everyone (and their children) is involved when conducting warfare.
-
Not really militaristic. Its just a reward for helping your nation. A very small number of people join the military just for the money. 80% of those quit during basic tranning. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What the US needs to do, is recall the draft and make sure that everyone does his/hers job serving their country. It also abolishes the situation where ordinary civilians might be treated as a second-hand citizens. And this shouldn't be just for the Iraqi war, it should be mandatory in peace-time aswell.

Or just an announcement for as one of the upcoming titles to Xbox 2.

- He didn't like the combat as much as the rest, it's simply good, not OMG!!!!111. - He actually thought that 20 hours of gameplay is too short for an rpg. - The lack customization, which is one of the essential things in an rpg. - The lack of interactivity. - A non-existent inventory. The score is seems great, but the tone was very negative troughout the review.
-
Inventory problem? Sounds more like no inventory at all.

English is mandatory from 5th grade and upwards in Finland. Still, we finnish are have a hard time to pronounciate the words properly.
