They are dumbing down the health system, removing their inspired health/endurance system that really makes it feel like you are getting continously weary and worn down and hungry.

Aswell as dumbing down the spell system (see here) (https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/96465-what-does-everyone-think-about-the-new-casting-system/)

So spells no longer feel like truly grand abilities that should be used sparingly and totally deplete your soul until you rest.

Requiring for you to have a nice cozy camp with you and your party members and use your limited supplies as you rest up for the night and get some food, to replenish your health and magic.

They also cut a tonne of spells, lol why, just why, dark souls 3 did this and wasted the **** out of my money, it was basically just a downgrade in all ways and undid so many fixes from dark souls 2, it was dark souls 1.5

Why is this game becoming Pillars of Eternity 0.5 better graphics?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

They are also dumbing down the stats, very inspired before, that ALL stats were useful for everyone and you could make really diverse chars where you had to either balance or sacrifice some to get great weaknesses in exchange for great strenghs (I loved tha)

Now might is gone and there is strength and resolve, meaning everyones gonna have more than enough points to make whatever they want with no sacrifices, because the main damage stat is seperate for spell casters and melees.

Instead of might, it's now strength and resolve, overtuning resolve (and tbh making me feel less special that I won't be able to sac might unlike most chars to fill up on resolve and constitution to be a tanky mage) now everyones gonna be half way there with their mage.

SInce when is it natural for a mages primary damage stat to also increase their tankiness? It should be a choice you make, a sacrifice to get that, in exchange for something else, not a given.

I actually liked sacrificing what obsidian though my primary stat should be (might) to make my own unique char, which 1 man solo'd Path of the damned btw, and not in that ****ty chicken **** rogue way either.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Seriously the **** are they doing? No one complained about this, we complained about the graphics and mostly ****ty companions, if anyone did complain about these things they were few and far between.

Btw, the health/endurance system is PISS EASY to understand, if people couldn't understand it then news flash THEY DIDN'T DESERVE TO AND DESERVED TO BE DISADVANTAGED FOR LACK OF INTELLIGENCE, it's an RPG and this one in particular was quite a high brow one, or at least it was.

Are you just going to constantly spam the boards then with the same opinion repeated endlessly? What was wrong with the last thread you started just yesterday?

What thread would this be? Pretty sure I've not made another thread with the same opinion except this one, infact this is the second thread I've ever made.   (third one now I see, simply forgot about the other)

I made a post about the battlemage/warlock class name and thought they should be swapped, a minor thing I though I'd mention and that is it?

I've commented on posts that disagree'd with you, but not made any of my own except for this one.

It would be of small avail to talk of magic in the air...

hmm fair enough, was an honest mistake, as you see on my original post it has "What thread would this be?" with a question mark, so I wasn't sure myself? Seems fair I wasn't stating it wasn't true.

I'd rather keep up this one and delete the other but I'm not sure I can.

Now, now, maybe there are TWO alexis13s on the board, and both of them like to assert that Obsidian are dumbing down Deadfire. Let's not leap to any hasty conclusions.

No just one, and whilst I made an honest mistake and forgot my last post.

They are dumbing down the game, and many people are saying so besides me, I just decided to make my own clearer post about it and try to tie more things up in one post.

but whatever, the three of you can all go back to your echo chamber now.

I don't agree with all the changes, but they were all made for logical reasons. For example, the spells were made per encounter because people just rest spam anyway. It's not a conspiracy to dumb the game down so they can market to the unwashed masses.

You're not making any friends on this board by ranting like a petulant child.

I don't believe the game is in a place to change these things right now. Everything you (OP) spam about is already discussed and argued months ago with official responces by the devs. They heared, the changed stuff, they stick with their view about some others... this is gonna be the game like it or not. I don't like some things they changed either but what's been said, is been said, what is twitched is twitched, the game is done and core mechanics won't change now. Well maybe they switch strength back to night but that's about it.

I hope (and, actually, believe) that the overall experience will outshine the mechanical changes I don't happen to like, to point I have a blast with it and forget whatever bothered me in the first place.

Why are you dumbing down the forum by continuously claiming that everything is getting dumbed down? Come out of your dumbing down echo chamber and get yourself a vocabulary.

Dear alexis13,

You call me a fool, then edit your post to admit you're wrong.

You claim that you have forgotten your very own thread after 24h (sic!).

You expect that this thread will be meaningful.

Sorry, I'll excuse myself from this discussion.

I have locked the previous thread.

Thanks

That's a real high form of wit you got there, stunning argument too, every even letter caps'd and misspelling one word, really counters my points.

God everyone's an idiot these days, heads filled with memes, too content to just imitate random nonsense instead of self-reflecting to cultivate some actual original thought.

I don't think we need to resort to name calling, alexis13. This is your discussion, you lead the tone.

You really have no shame do you?  It's clear the person I replied to was the aggresor and I was merely responding to it, but you already know that, you are trying to make yourself look more civilized, willfully ignoring the previous nonsense in an attempt to make me look bad (which I care almost nothing for)

You have just decided to make yourself my enemy and are trying to make attacks where-ever you can get them.

At least have the courage to proclaim your convictions and don't hide behind cowardly tricks like that, pretending to some holier-than-thou to make me look less.

I see right through you, you overestimate your deception, I'm done associating with you permenantly, it's clear I'll get nothing from underhanded tactics from you from now on, so I thought I'd expose them this once.

Say what you will in the future, It's clear I won't be able to have any civilized discourse without you harbouring some vendetta, it's about winning the argument for you, not learning from each other like it is fo rme. I'm done with you.

 Of course, having 99 Camping Supplies, [When playing on Lower Difficulties], it could be a Rest Spam.

But not so much when you could bring only two.

Currently :

  • Running out of Spells ? Well, nope. Never happens, it's an infinite Spamfest now.
  • Running out of Empowering Points ? Neither, you can Rest Spam, because there's no Camping Supplies. No Limitations, regarding the Difficulties !

Is it better now ? I think not. It's even worse.

I hate the New System.

@Dexgames Thank god someone who can see reason and objectively how the game is being dumbed down.

There is plenty of dumbed down games and not enough like the original pillars, I can't just go to another game, you guys can so stop peddling the dumbed-down game ey?

I don't like the Health/Endurance system in PoE. I will either run out of health before using all of my spells so it looks like I don't need to decide carefully when to use them or I will use them all the time and again they won't look like an important resource to save for special occasions. But this may be my impression now because recently I've only played on high levels, when I have lots of spells.

Could also be because I play different from most people. I never spam rest, I only rest when it makes sense, like when I go to a new city/village or too much time has passed. Or when I explore an entire level of a dungeon and it feels safe to rest.

I don't think I'll miss it.

As for the new casting system, it does look worse, but I don't have enough information to judge it yet.

The Game's getting casualized.

Something is crossing my mind...

Assuming there's little to no-chance a Casual Player will go for Veteran or Path Of The Damned Difficulties anyway.

& that their plan was to make the Game more accessible for "Casual" players :

  • Who will probably end up playing on Story Mode // Relaxed. [Normal was fairly hard, for someone discovering the Genre]
  • Well good job, that's a success... Deadfire System is awesome for them.
  • No Struggle, everything is fine. Your Character is Injured ? Don't worry man, just buy 10 Stacks of x99 Hardtack & you're good to go !

But for those who want the real deal, on Veteran & PoTD, those are now stuck with that sh*tty "Infinite Everything Everytime" system.

There's no "Ressources Management" anymore :

  • Per-Rest Spells.
  • Limited Camping Supplies.
  • Health/Endurance. [Now : Full Life every f**king Fight ! Yey ! *Clapping*]
  • Etc.

No Ressource Management :

  • That, is an actual Dumb Down.

It's all there : https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/96152-vancian-caster-discussion/?p=1979276

:verymad:

I don't know if it is being 'dumbed down' and I am going to keep an open mind until I play the thing. However I was a big fan of the Vancian casting system and the health system in the first game. Having them changed so dramatically is theoretically a disappointment for me. But we will see if they are a disappointment in fact.

No offense, but in the eyes of most people here, that is what you do. Including your statement that everyone's an idiot. As you can see in the other thread about the magic system, in which you commented too, the more reasonable you are, the more reasonable are the answers. But this thread here was aggressive from the beginning. You list things that you don't like and make baseless accusations directed towards Obsidian. It's not a discussion, it is a bait for people to complain about Obsidian. Now they complain about you and it's your own fault, because you set the tone. I for one will not leave any useful response here. I'll do that on the other thread.

Getting rid of health isn't necessarily bad in my opinion. Same with the spell limits. It means that they can balance fights way easier because they know the relative power level going into every battle.

Losing the macromanagement isn't so bad as long as they raise the bar on micro.
