trump reflexive threatens litigation whenever somebody writes an unflattering book, but typically he caves 'fore situation can get too ugly for him.  nevertheless, the hijinks which would ensue if lawyers got another chance to depose trump regarding so-called defamatory statements would, sadly, be the highlight o' at least a month o' our life. maybe two.

Nothing like creating a problem for nothing

I will bet money Trump WON'T win next election. He allowed/****ed with Internet and Pot.

Sessions needs to get the **** outta Congress and everyone else who makes decisions on what they personally feel against the will of the people they supposed to be representing.

Dammit, Libertarians need to get more people because screw the Democrats and the Republicans.

Our Republicans aren't having it wrt Sessions obsession with weed. Sure they were mostly against it when we first voted on legalization but now that CO is making money hand over fist and it enjoys popular support they want to keep it.

Sessions IS out of Congress, he stopped being a Senator when he was picked and confirmed for Attorney General.

It's definetly guaranteed to become an issue in the states where it's affecting people.

Theres still some Republicans who are against it though, including Sessions. However, Sessions is particularily fixated and stuck on the failed war on drugs.

I laugh when I hear Republicans fretting the Trump Train Derailment. I asked one "What in this man's history and personality led you to believe any other outcome was possible?". His answer is "He's still preferable to Hillary Clinton". I can't argue with that. When someone offers you a pile of cow s--t on on plate and a pile of horse s--t on the other and tells you you have to eat one of them it doesn't really matter which you choose. You're still eating s--t. The tragedy is 120M + people licking their s--t stained fingers still don't realize they had other options.

Tell me, would anyone swap Donald Trump for Gary Johnson right now? He wouldn't have been exciting. He probably wouldn't even have been effective. But I can guarantee you he'd have stayed off twitter, not bombed Syria for no reason, and still rolled back Obama's big brother bull**** and picked a good supreme court justice.

oh, and the American people lose too.  am actual pleased with the gorsuch appointment, but the need to go nuclear were regrettable.  even the republican senators who voted to change the senate rules so gorsuch could be approved almost universal lamented the need for what many recognized as a diminution and dilution o' the Senate as a whole.  wisdom were sacrificed for expediency.

!

Agreed. The day will come... probably sooner than later they will rue that decision. As will we all. I am convinced the United States as a political institution is going to break apart some time in the future. And I strongly suspect the hammer that will strike the fissure in on 1st Street in Washington DC.

As someone who voted for Johnson, I'll be honest, he wouldn't have lasted long at all under the same media that Obama and Trump have dealt with. He could barely deal with them during the election.

Sadly with a fully staffed republican govt, I still see alot of the things that are happening still happening (net neutrality/marijuana).

Trump has done a few good things, no longer have the penalty for insurance, higher tax return for kids, putting Mad Dog back in office, winning the battle with the media (sadly losing the war bc he doesn't know how to walk away when you won), just to name a few.

Unless Trey Gowdy runs (if he's smart he won't) I won't be voting republican and hopefully the Democrats can come up with a good (not decent/passable) candidate, else I'll be voting for Johnson yet again.

As for net neutrality and the marjuana stuff happening with Gary Johnson, not neccesarily, it depends on who he appoints and Gary Johnson is a supporter of marjuana.

Not to mention that a situation that would result in a Gary Johnson Presidency would result in huge differences in Congress.

Well, Trump appointed an AG who famously hates weed and an FFC chair that famously hates net neutrality. I don't think the outcome has really been surprising.

The fact that Sessions took almost a year to do action on marjuana seems surprising. Seems like something he'd get started ASAP, not right after California made it legal.

California is an easy target for this type of action though. It's basically held up as representative of all things liberal, so where typically conservatives would be uncomfortable with federal powers running roughshod over state rights, it is ok if it is happening to the villainous California.

True, California is an easy target, just as much as Texas is sometimes in the same role for liberals. And the two states do have a bit of a rivalry going I believe. I just thought he'd get started on it right away as opposed to doing it after California made their move.

Still, even though conservatives would be happy with it hitting the blue states, they'd still be uncomfortable with it. Although, technically he's not actually doing anything new I don't think, just going back to pre-Obama rules.

Exactly why I won't vote Republican again. They love big and oppressive government as long as they are in control of it. As abhorrent as the aims of the Democrats on the left are to me, at least they are up front and honest about what they want to do to you. The Republicans talk a good game about liberty and small government but that is not what you get from them.

And it's excellent. Surprisingly, I'm aware that Trump is not a literal child.

Coincidentally I finally came around to binge-watching Ash vs Evil Dead. Now I can't believe I've put off watching it for so long; I loved the Evil Dead movies and even really liked My Name is Bruce.

“Political philosophers have often pointed out that in wartime, the citizen, the male citizen at least, loses one of his most basic rights, his right to life; and this has been true ever since the French Revolution and the invention of conscription, now an almost universally accepted principle. But these same philosophers have rarely noted that the citizen in question simultaneously loses another right, one just as basic and perhaps even more vital for his conception of himself as a civilized human being: the right not to kill.”

"The chancellor, the late chancellor, was only partly correct. He was obsolete. But so is the State, the entity he worshipped. Any state, entity, or ideology becomes obsolete when it stockpiles the wrong weapons: when it captures territories, but not minds; when it enslaves millions, but convinces nobody. When it is naked, yet puts on armor and calls it faith, while in the Eyes of God it has no faith at all. Any state, any entity, any ideology that fails to recognize the worth, the dignity, the rights of Man...that state is obsolete."
