I'm not really sold on Bruce Willis as Dr. Kersey. He seems like an action hero. Admittedly Charles Bronson had a similar problem with respect to the original adaption being a classical cowboy type but, imo, to a lesser degree.

The original book is - from what I've read about it as I've not read them - not really about action or cathartic/exploitative violence but hopelessness and desperation. The first Bronson film gets a bit of that, the later films not so much. (Can't speak to the Kevin Bacon led, James Wan directed adaption of the second book DEATH SENTENCE).

I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man

Pretty much. The trailer does feel as if it's completely oblivious to the underlying rage and desperation that is present in the character and story, as well as the sheer queasiness inherent in the premise, in great part thanks to the choice of AC/DC as a soundtrack to it all. Which is, again, the usual story with Eli Roth.

DuckTales is back and it was glorious. Better than ever. Really great distraction in light of the brownshirts taking over yesterday's news cycle.

I think it's intentional (although it may backfire ) to distinguish it from the other Marvel x-men films

Certainly intentional, and going the way Logan, Legion and Deadpool have of trying to merge the superhero genre with elements or aesthetics from other genres. It just feels a lot more pedestrian and formulaic from the trailer than these three did, however.

Looks decent, shame it will flop at BO.

Hah, I'd take that bet. Marvel is a BO monster right now. If Doctor Strange and Ant Man can bring in money, I'm pretty confident this will bring in a tidy profit.

Although I think it is pretty obvious why you are skeptical.

Man, I came to this thread with high hopes. Now I am just walking out while wondering why this thread isn't called 'Netflix: Movies and Shows for Mom and Dad'.  :geek:

There used to be a signature here, a really cool one...and now it's gone.

You could always add trailers that you'd like to see here...

I feel like it'll do decent money, but below par for what MCU generally brings in.

Panther is a marvel movie. It'll make moolah. I won't see it in theatres as I don't see any Marvel movies in theatres.

Wonder if all the off-monitors at work tomorrow are going to have Netflix open for them.

“Political philosophers have often pointed out that in wartime, the citizen, the male citizen at least, loses one of his most basic rights, his right to life; and this has been true ever since the French Revolution and the invention of conscription, now an almost universally accepted principle. But these same philosophers have rarely noted that the citizen in question simultaneously loses another right, one just as basic and perhaps even more vital for his conception of himself as a civilized human being: the right not to kill.”

"The chancellor, the late chancellor, was only partly correct. He was obsolete. But so is the State, the entity he worshipped. Any state, entity, or ideology becomes obsolete when it stockpiles the wrong weapons: when it captures territories, but not minds; when it enslaves millions, but convinces nobody. When it is naked, yet puts on armor and calls it faith, while in the Eyes of God it has no faith at all. Any state, any entity, any ideology that fails to recognize the worth, the dignity, the rights of Man...that state is obsolete."

The last full Star Wars trailer was put in the movie thread, so I'll drop the "Awake" short trailer:

Black Panther has me pretty excited. I admit, some Marvel movies are horrible but we'd be lying if we said the newer ones weren't at quality measure.

Thor Ragnarok is one of the top rated movies of the year and deservingly so. Cate Blanchette is remarkable and she alone will make the movie win an award, mark my words.

The top movies of the year are Beauty and The Beast and Thor Ragnarok for obvious reasons. Beautiful movies.

Not my favorites of the year though.

Just what do you think you're doing?! You dare to come between me and my prey? Is it a habit of yours to scurry about, getting in the way and causing bother?

What are you still bothering me for? I'm a Knight. I'm not interested in your childish games. I need my rest.

Begone! Lest I draw my nail...
