Alexia Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 I read an official preview and that lame card game pazaak will be included. Le donne sono da venus, la scopata sa dove sono gli uomini da. For a different kind of Kotor chat
Volourn Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 That isn't news. It's been known basically since the game was announced and even before hand. Secondly, it isn't lame. It's the best and definitely the mini game with the most fun. It had exactly one weakness. Hopefully, they'll fix it. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
Shdy314 Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 I think it's biggest problem(besides always making you go first) is it takes too damn long to play. Make it as quick as 21 since that's what it basically is. Then I'll play it a lot more.
Opus131 Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 Didn't have an issue with it, besides the fact there really wasn't that much money to be made from it to really bother with it (tought i did play the crap out of that guy on the Yavin station. Made about 7000 credits and a discount on all his items). I'd say make it more sparse, but more rewarding as well... Opus131
newc0253 Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 i didn't have a problem with pazaak. it was always optional and a diverting way to make extra credits. swoop racing, OTOH, was a pain in the bloody ass. dumber than a bag of hammers
evil.E Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 pazaak wasn't too bad, frustrating at times, but a nice diversion. Swoop Racing on the other hand. i hated the controls i would of prefered to use my mouse to steer or at least have that as an option. *edit lol newc you took the words right out of my mouth.
Tyrell Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 I never learned how to play it.... Never interested me. PlayMoreConsoles TheForce.net
Drakron Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 I am adicted to that card game ... just because some *cough*xbox users*cough* dont like it *cough*because it requires stategy*cough* does not mean its a bad mini game.
Volourn Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 Drakron whing again about how great he is comapred to others? Typical. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
kumquatq3 Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 Drakron whing again about how great he is comapred to others? Typical. You obviously have not seen the man play Pazaak. It's like god himself is working through him. Really tho, Pazaak was fun enough. No reason not to put it back in.
Drakron Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 Drakron whing again about how great he is comapred to others? Typical. PC players tend to like the card game and dislike the other two mini games. Xbox players tend to like the racing and dislike the card game.

Xbox players tend to like the racing and dislike the card game. How do you know? There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs. -John Rogers
Arkan Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 I agree with somet that Pazaak was fun, but there's just not enough money to be won to justify wasting time on it. Now, if there was some sort of pazaak tournament on any given planet where you could play your way up the ranks and win a big jack pot...it could be an interesting sidequest...especially if you involve a little espionage, blackmail, and sabotage. "Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger." - Herman Goering at the Nuremberg trials "I have also been slowly coming to the realisation that knowledge and happiness are not necessarily coincident, and quite often mutually exclusive" - meta

Spook Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 Pazaak was designed broken from start. In a game where opponent is always bank with an advantage and 21 is gained with no added cards more often then chance alone allow is broken by my definition. If they are to add the game to KotOR2 they should add alternetive starting player. If they fixed so the game actualy followed laws of chance it might actualy be interesting to play. As it was in KotOR I only played it to gain the added credits (and it was not fun).
Volourn Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 Kum: LOL It ha snothing to do with his skill or lack of skill with Pazaak. It's the stupid garbage about x-boxers. It's very lame; but typical of Drakron. Afterall, this si the guy who swore up and down that this game wasn't even KOTOR2. LOL Arkan: Sound sgreat. I always wnated their to be Pazaak tournaments. ramza Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 I read an official preview and that lame card game pazaak will be included. Are those really bad news? I don't mind about card games as I actually like them... Nowadays, you tend to see more and more of them in videogames and the funny part is that they are all different from each other! Everything started with FF8, FF9 continued this and many other games copied that idea... "Ooo, squirrels, Boo! I know I saw them! Quick, throw nuts!" -Minsc "I am a well-known racist in the Realms! Elves? Dwarves? Ha! Kill'em all! Humans rule! -Me Volourn will never grow up, he's like the Black Peter Pan, here to tell you that it might be great to always be a child, but everybody around is gonna hate it.
Volourn Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 FF8's card game is still the best. B) DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
Shdy314 Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 FF8's card game is still the best. B) Until it got insanely convoluted with the later rules.
Volourn Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 I still don't 100% know how it works. That's how convoluted it is. I just didn't bother to elarn and just chose randonly. Heh. Didn't even bother finish the epic card quests becuas eof it too. Anyways, with pazzak, make it so the player doens't always go first, and add pazaak torunaments and we have a winner. Drakron Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 How do you know? I visited enough forums to come to that conclusion.
kumquatq3 Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 Anyways, with pazzak, make it so the player doens't always go first I dunno, I kinda liked the "casino" feel to it. The idea that the odds are technically against you, but if your careful, you'll win anyways. I mean, did anyone have serious problems winning games after they got the hang of it? Specailly after you got those plus or minus cards.
Darkfire Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 I mean, did anyone have serious problems winning games after they got the hang of it? Specailly after you got those plus or minus cards. Depends on whether you are cursed like me or not... Oh another natural 20! Imagine my suprise. <_<
