Music from the past...

Not sure why I can't see everyone's video's, but I wanted to share this

Was searching for something completely else on youtube when I saw this "music video". The animation is one of those completely irreverent Danish things, a move called Ronald Barbaren (Ronal the Barbarian in the English dubbed version).

Yes, it features a lot of Babes, Balls, Boobs, Biceps and Barbarians. Wouldn't recommend watching it (the full movie) at work ;)

there was a piece from the late 90's or early 2000's that i can't remember the title of. it was music only so i don't have vocals to give me some search clue.

the only clue i have is that the video for it was a montage of scenery seen from the window of a moving train.

it's not star guitar though, which is the only result i get from google

The words freedom and liberty, are diminishing the true meaning of the abstract concept they try to explain. The true nature of freedom is such, that the human mind is unable to comprehend it, so we make a cage and name it freedom in order to give a tangible meaning to what we dont understand, just as our ancestors made gods like Thor or Zeus to explain thunder.

What? You thought it was a quote from some well known wise guy from the past?

Stupidity leads to willful ignorance - willful ignorance leads to hope - hope leads to sex - and that is how a new generation of fools is born!

We are hardcore role players... When we go to bed with a girl, we roll a D20 to see if we hit the target and a D6 to see how much penetration damage we did.

How I have existed fills me with horror. For I have failed in everything - spelling, arithmetic, riding, tennis, golf; dancing, singing, acting; wife, mistress, whore, friend. Even cooking. And I do not excuse myself with the usual escape of 'not trying'. I tried with all my heart.

In my dreams, I am not crippled. In my dreams, I dance.

Link because album cover is borderline nsfw.

Thats actually exactly what I like about assemblage 23, I listen to A23 when I want to hear stereotypical futurepop just like when I listen to Rammstein to hear good stereotypical dark metal. Tom Shear is good in what he is doing, he has amazing lyrics, good tunes and good quality. I also happen to like his voice.  =]

Whatever floats your boat, but being stereotypical and sticking with what you are good at aren't always bad things.

I gazed at the dead, and for one dark moment I saw a banquet.

I liked his earliest stuff best. As the years went on, his vocals got brighter and brighter, and the lyrics less...primal, in a way, I feel. The instrumentals also became less dark EBM and more generic futurepop-ish. My favorite album of his is still Contempt.

To be honest, I feel this way about most electronic artists that I like(d). Assemblage 23, Covenant, Lights of Euphoria, The Azoic, VNV Nation...they've all moved away from their roots of lyrically-raw dark EBM/synth, and have all moved into this brighter futurepop stuff, and I just don't really have much of a stomach for the latter, so it's very disappointing. VNV Nation is the only one that has managed to really keep my interest so far. :(

"Several people have told me essentially this same story about the still, sad music of Pärt—how it became, for them or for others, a vehicle of solace. One or two such anecdotes seem sentimental; a series of them begins to suggest a slightly uncanny phenomenon. Patrick Giles, in an article for Salon, reported that when he worked as a volunteer for an AIDS organization, in the nineteen-eighties, he played "Tabula Rasa" for those facing the final onslaught of the disease, and they developed a peculiar, almost desperate attachment to it. Once, when Giles was away, the mother of one of the dying men called with an anxious query. "He keeps asking for 'angel music,' " she said. "What the hell is that?" The music in question was the second movement of "Tabula Rasa," in which a rustling arpeggio on a prepared piano leads into glacial chords of D minor."

always liked it.

That legit sounds like it could be a NWN2: Mask of the Betrayer theme song for some area or character.
