"Comments like this always baffle me since this is the polar opposite of what the "feminist discourse" is about."

His comment is true. This isn't 1960 anymore. In 2016,  this is EXACTLY the feminist discourse. Men are eviil rape monsters and womena re fragile little creatures that need to be babied but stillf ed   'power fantasies'.

\Feminists by their very nature are evil  selfish scumbag hateful racists exist nazi ISIS wannabes. :)

Volo ...you funny

You know alum by now and you know very well that these are type of comments that he is least likely to respond to

I understand thats what you feel feminism represents but thats because you have a very negative view of Feminist ideals and I believe this is because its how it comes across on the Internet but in RL feminism is a good thing

Malc how are the Syrians doing in Canada? Any issues, whats the general sentiment? Also I am particularly interested in how the various governments intergrate them in the economy...I want to know how many of them end up working because that I feel is the real sign of success

There is what the feminist discourse used to be about and then there's the what it actually is now and those two things have little in common.

No, it's just... literally the opposite of the feminist message. Men need to be held accountable when they commit rape because they aren't barely contained rapists. This idea is the foundation of the reasoning why victim-blaming is bad! If men were evil rape monsters who literally can't contain themselves and unthinkingly rape every scantily-clad woman they come across, feminists wouldn't be furious at the way our society constantly second-guesses rape victims.

The fact that I don't respond to Volourn has nothing to do with the type of comments he makes and everything to do with the fact that I have him on ignore

Bruce take an educated guess. People hardly knowing english in best case scenario with education probably not greater than high school in vast majority of cases. How well do you think that they will integrate? Oh plus remember that they have to have their 5 prayers a day facilitated. I sure see them making stellar careers right of the bat...

Dark I hope you wrong about the standard of education....I doubt thats true in the case of the Syrians?

The 5 prayers a day is not an issue and also you must realize integration in my opinion just means the refugees need to find jobs and not live off social grants ....no one expects everyone to suddenly be friends unless you want to

Like that video that Meshugger posted where those Muslim kids were saying " we don't want to be friends with Germans " ....those kids misunderstand something. You wont be friends with people unless you have something in common . Muslims, Christians and anyone else can happily live together they just need to respect each other

I am of the opinion that the "Ignore function", blocking or similar either perpetuates this hugbox, inclusively enclosed spaces-mentality that we already see in western campuses, or that it is just a manifestation of it.

Maybe that is what has happened with the media in Germany as well. The actions in Cologne happened on New Years Eve, but was first covered up, then ignored for a week and then finally admitted. Hmmm..., maybe there's a thesis or a study about this somewhere....

I'm misunderstanding you? What do you mean by a manifestation ?

Also are you sure the incident was intentionally covered up?

Manifestation as the mentality was already there and it only lacked the tools needed.

As for the incident, check the video of the TYT that Sakai posted a few pages back. It is mentioned within the first 3 minutes. It was also mentioned in one of the original links.

Oh yes, under five minute break five times (which 2-3 are during typical work hours) of day massively hinders how much work person can do in one day and absolutely prevents all sort career advancing.

well its surly not problem on higher paid jobs (office, management) but expecting whole factory to take a break is kinda hard :)

I'm the enemy, 'cause I like to think, I like to read. I'm into freedom of speech, and freedom of choice. I'm the kinda guy that likes to sit in a greasy spoon and wonder, "Gee, should I have the T-bone steak or the jumbo rack of barbecue ribs with the side-order of gravy fries?" I want high cholesterol! I wanna eat bacon, and butter, and buckets of cheese, okay?! I wanna smoke a Cuban cigar the size of Cincinnati in the non-smoking section! I wanna run naked through the street, with green Jell-O all over my body, reading Playboy magazine. Why? Because I suddenly may feel the need to, okay, pal? I've SEEN the future. Do you know what it is? It's a 47-year-old virgin sitting around in his beige pajamas, drinking a banana-broccoli shake, singing "I'm an Oscar Meyer Wiene"

Factories have survived smoke breaks and toilet breaks that their employees take. Those prayers aren't such that they have absolutely exact times when one needs to perform them.

1. Salat al-Fajr, or the morning prayer, is said after dawn and before sunrise.

2. Salat al-Zuhr, or the early afternoon prayer, is said when the sun begins to decline, and its time extends till the next prayer. On Fridays, the Friday service takes the place of this prayer.

3. Salat al-`Asr, or the late afternoon prayer, is said when the sun is about midway on its course to setting, and its time extends to a little before it actually sets.

4. Salat al-Maghhrib, or the sunset prayer, is said immediately after the sun sets.

5. Salat al-`Isha, or the early night prayer, is said when the red glow in the west disappears, and its time extends to midnight. But it must be said before going to bed.

Of course in December here Finland they could do them all during lunch break and best days they only need to do 2 of them as sun never rises. And during June same thing as Sun never goes down. :dancing:

In South Africa the Muslim community only pray on Fridays at the Mosque

I noticed in the Middle East most Muslims but particularly  Muslims from the more impoverished countries like Pakistan and Afghanistan they pray 4-5 times a day, this was apparent in Saudi

But I would imagine as far as the refugees are concerned living in the EU it would depend on the type of job and education. Muslims in the corporate world cannot expect to pray 4-5 times if it disrupts there work but they would know this....but a laborer who fixes roads wont understand work commitments and work responsibility

alum you know I tend to sometimes ask what you think are random questions but in my world it makes perfect sense

How long is your studies to be a doctor? I assume 8 years ? Anyway I know this is something that is a long way off but in South Africa all doctors have to do 2 years practical after there studies. But we also get foreign doctors who request to come to South Africa to work in our trauma units for the experience as my country is unfortunately one of the most violent places in the world

I have contacts who can arrange Visas for that type of work so if you wanted to do your practical in South Africa I could almost guarantee you a job, I think you would find your time here very rewarding and stimulating in various way

Bruce why would they suddenly be of much better quality than immigrants in the past from Turkey or Algeria?

That's a good question and I'll give an answer that I'm not 100% sure is correct but seems logical

So your typical immigrant from Turkey and Algeria that have been coming to the EU for years is normally not able to find work in there own country but is also not normally educated or skilled....so they just end up being a nuisance in the EU

But until the civil war in Syria how many unemployed Syrians did you ever encounter in your country? I'll wager not many if any, my company as I mentioned does consultancy throughout the ME and yet Syria and Iraq are the two countries none of us have ever been to

Now why is this? You could argue that Assad wouldn't allow anyone to leave Syria but I dont think this is the reason. I think like Iran in Syria people are educated and did use to have pride in there country and society

So I am hoping this translates to a reality where your average Syrian is educated and therefore can work in the EU

Its not a straight forward question as I know many people who live in Oz who support the policy and they not racist like my cousins...so I won't assume " if you are liberal then you must be opposed to it " ..its nuanced

There is some justification for it

Personally I've never met anyone in favour of it.

Okay thats interesting but then why would the government be supporting it if  the  majority citizens are opposed to it?

Because its probably the wisest thing to do. There is a list of needed professions in Australia (more or less constantly) and anyone can apply to immigrate and fill those jobs. Australia is not a fortress that pours boiling oil on the plebs hammering at its doors. If you want to go there all you need to do is be something they need.

I call that a reasonable immigration policy.

Apparently there has now been two nights of right-wing groups vandalizing Kebab-shops and beating up random brown people in Leipzig. The pushback is starting and the spiral deepens; of course the political elite is completely flabbergasted.

Yeah I get the reasons but its still seen as against the basic rights of refugees.....but I think sometimes this whole rights of refugees can be a little unreasonable
