BruceVC Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 (edited) I think Obsidian has learn another important lesson here: any forced edition won't be tolerated by the fanbase since it undermines the whole "by gamers for gamers" definition. If you waver that lightly means only that you care for your creation that much. Nah, it won't be tolerated by a subset of the fanbase who frankly don't have to support Obsidian if they feel that strongly about it I say if people have such little patience and respect for all the hard work that Obsidian has done at entertaining us through the years and choose to make such a big deal about such a little change to the overall game then they must just go. I don't believe Obsidian would want fans who are so capricious anyway Edited April 9, 2015 by BruceVC 1 "Abashed the devil stood and felt how awful goodness is and saw Virtue in her shape how lovely: and pined his loss” John Milton "We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” - George Bernard Shaw "What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. Noin Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 I don't know why, but I feel that creating endless topics with the same content is exactly as stupid as creating a crusade about something which wasn't even created by the devs. (And I never felt compelled to read a single grave mark, why would you even?) Just leave the topic be. Yes, the girl's behavior was excessive and she overreacted quite a lot, but then who knows: maybe she had a transgender friend who committed suicide because of mobbing? After all, believing Social Justice to be something bad and annoying is as ignorant as believing that everything socialist or even social-oriented is bad (and yes, there are unfortunately a lot of people believing that). Just let the topic drop, I am pretty sure that Obsidian hated to deal with situations like this (I would for sure), and they just decided that better safe than sorry. Why pissed off, then?

That shows that a nice person you probably are. Gratz on that, not caring is a good way to go about life. 1
MLMII Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 What strikes me as funny is when people who profess to not caring about the SJW/GG discussions come into a thread that is very clearly devoted to thus and complain. I mean I might be able to see your point if these threads amounted to even a substantial minority of topics on this board but as is there currently seems to only be one or perhaps two active topics at a time with new ones popping up as the old ones are hit with the mod hammer.

Parsong Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 It's kinda amusing actually, that the SIJW's Is that what you guys call regular people these days? 2

catbutt Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 So. Looks like Tumblr is down today? Limerick haters: grow up. Adjust to the world. It's sure as f@@k not going to adjust to you, especially with your attitude of entitlement and hypocrisy.
Noin Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Then He's made the world a service, he deserves a darwin prize. Nice edit, eh! Well, it would be a nice joke if you get really sick or disabled after incident or something like this and NO ONE would care about you and leave to suffer because... Yeah, weak people or people who are different are "nicht lebenswert"... Because self-flagellation at the behest of every malcontent in the world is, as we know, the joy of life. And how do you decide who is malcontent and who isn't? A lot of people play God these days...
DrBrian Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 (edited) The sad part is if Obsidian had stated they had removed that cringe worthy poem because they found it themselves of poor taste, all advocates of "free speech" would just have to shut the hell up. Unfortunately they won't because "mandatory-backer-respect" and all. No backer defined content in your next game Obsidian please. Edited April 9, 2015 by DrBrian 2

zombo Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Someone is bound to be offended by something with a base this large. Probably wasn't good to give in and change, but what's done is done and it's pretty small in the grand scheme of things. It has no effect on my enjoyment of the game.

Calling the mere desire for freedom of speech as "Social injustice" just shows how nutty these guys are. A lot of people seem to believe that Freedom of Speech means being able to say whatever you want without thinking first and ALSO having no responsibility for having said that. Which is laughable. Freedom of Speech as a law means that no matter what you say, you won't be shot by a death squad. Other than that, you are still responsible for what you say. Also, the game was created by Obsidian, it's THEIR property. You don't come to your neighbor's house and start calling his wife a wh*re and then accuse him of being anti-Freedom of Speech for kicking you out. They made this game, they decide what content there is. They even contacted the guy for God's sake! Edited April 9, 2015 by Noin
MLMII Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 (edited) Naw ... even if the devs did come out with that statement many people simply wouldn't believe them; hells, people (myself included) already don't believe their statement that the limerick wasn't vetted prior to being included in the game in the first place. (Whether Sawyer saw it personally or not may be a different story however.) *EDIT* Sure, but at the same time its in extremely poor taste to go to your neighbor's house and start a screaming, kicking hissy fit because you find something on display that is offensive. Noin Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 The issue is that these loons find everything and anything offensive and "irresponsible". Well, right now you ARE being offensive, probably with purpose. I don't know, maybe it's the way you speak or how you were brought up, but I always believed calling people names because you don't like them or disagree with them to be rather... tasteless and childish.
Parsong Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 I wasn't talking about you, I was talking about SJW's who find everything insulting. That is pretty loony. Should I be more respectful and just say I believe they have mental problems? 5

Mobbing causes phychological trauma. It's not that different from physical trauma, you just don't see it straight away. Imagine it as being beaten with police batons. But invisible ones. And not once, but continuously. If at first you are enraged against police brutality - "what's going on? i didn't break any laws!", after a while you just want the pain to stop. Both psychological and physical torture eventually lead to the same end. Funny that some people don't see such obvious things...

Should I be more respectful and just say I believe they have mental problems? I wasn't saying you were offensive toward me, calling anyone loony qualifies for being offensive - no matter what the reasons are. And it's just common logic, actually. And it's not about respect, it's rather about self-respect. If you believe you are right, give your reasoning. Don't start calling names, as that serves no purpose and only make the other side of the argument more determined to do whatever they can to make your life harder. Eye for an eye makes the world blind and all that, y'know
