ManifestedISO Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Some people find Jesus in toast, I opened the Creamy Roasted HoneyNut and found a nut butter demon. The demon's face can be seen in a mirror. They are not vampires. 1 All Stop. On Screen.
Cantousent Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Hey, that's my mother in law in your peanut butter! Seriously, ManISO, you're nuts. I've been checking prices for airfare for my wife and myself to visit a Canadian friend this summer. We're going to be in MN for a while and then slip over the border for an international kibitz for a few days. I've been keeping a log of the different prices I've been finding, although I think I'm going to wait until probably 90 days before we leave to buy the airplane tickets. Being cheap bastards, I've been doing everything to cut prices. Luckily, the princess is likewise cheap, so she backs me in this 100%. The lodgings are already booked and paid for, though. Gfted1 Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Its probably diabetes, my cat got it from the cat food when he was 19 and the first signs were weight loss and fatigue. Kidneys failure and diabetes are extremely common problems with old cats. With heavy medication my cat lived two more years with severe diabetes and kidney failure, the last two months before I put him to sleep were...not pretty. That's a bummer, Gftd. 11 years isn't all that old for a cat. I had to have one of our cats put down not long ago because of severe kidney failure. She'd gone blind and all sorts of stuff. It was terrible. As for spending, I spent $2.97 today on deli pickles, which I am now eating. :D The vets "gut feeling" was a benign tumor on his thyroid, the fix for which is literally one zap from a laser ($1500+) or medication for the rest of his life ($ unknown), but we'll get the test results today or tomorrow. And I was wildly off on his age. Apparently he is 15, so I don't know what I was thinking there. Im also wrestling with the cost vs benefit analysis. Vet says cats can live to 20 but the more realistic average is 16-18. Soooo, as I was staring into my wifes tear swollen eyes, I folded like a beach chair and told her we could get the laser treatment if that's whats wrong with the cat. "I'm your biggest fan, Ill follow you until you love me, Papa"
Blarghagh Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I know that feeling. Women and their cats, right? What kind of cat is it?
Gorgon Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Sense of achievement is half the fun, I would not take such wonder drug if it existed even if it was free of side effects. Its like that self aiming gun - Boooring. Was talking with some people who actually knew their time to run 10, 20, ect km and tried to improve it. They have a running buddy system, you know where you pressure eachother out of making excuses to make sure everybody shows up, and asked me to join. I realised that I have never been 'in shape', not one time in my entire life and accepting would inevitably compromise the system. Maybe I should try, just for the experience. Nahh, too much work. Gfted1 Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I know that feeling. Women and their cats, right? What kind of cat is it? I dunno the breed. Hes just a run-of-the-mill orange cat. I don't know my other cats breed either but he has black and white splotches like a cow. "I'm your biggest fan, Ill follow you until you love me, Papa"
Blarghagh Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Fair enough. I'm asking because some breeds are more prone to health issues than others. Maine Coons, for example, and such have heart trouble so often their average life expectancy is counted lower than most other cats.

Guard Dog Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I received a call and an e-mail last night extending an offer on the job in Nashville. It wasn't enough by far to be worth moving. I countered by inquiring about the flexibility to work from Memphis. I suggested (without saying it) that I'd be willing to take less $ to do so. Considering the kind of work I'd be surprised if they agreed but I was going to turn them down anyway so we'll see what happens. 1 "While it is true you learn with age, the down side is what you often learn is what a damn fool you were before" Thomas Sowell
Malcador Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Have my second round of interviews today, nebulously defined as meeting the manager. I guess he will quiz me on my non-existent Java knowledge or work experience (the job is pretty much the other side of the phone from mine now). Shouldn't be too bad. Interviews are so easier when you have a job, can safely treat this as practice. Why has elegance found so little following? Cantousent Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Cats are like tiny little money pits. I love my cats, but they're expensive as hell. I remember having to drive my cat down to Escondido, some 90 miles away. I was working on my car at the time, trying to fix leak in the coolant system, which I hadn't completely fixed. The whole way down there, I had to stop and add coolant every twenty miles or so. The cat was yowling in fear the whole way. I get down there and ended up paying what ended up being a couple grand for some procedure, and that took several hours. I went to a nearby shopping area and had lunch and read a book and twiddled my thumbs and whatnot and then picked her up and took her home. I loved that cat, but what a pain in the ass! Luckily, she was pretty much sedated for the ride back home, so no fearful yowls. Damn, that was... ten years ago? Malcador Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 That's rather nice your work has something for pet insurance. It is needed though, our two dachshunds cost a tonne of money, though I am sure not all of it is honest. Why has elegance found so little following? CoM_Solaufein Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Pet insurance would be nice. Their bills can become expensive like a humans. I spent $500 to have a tumor removed from my cat and there was no guarantee that it wouldn't come back. It has come back and is spreading, so her time on this planet is going to come to a close soon. CoM_Solaufein Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 She had it removed last year and the beginning of this year it came back with a vengeance. She isn't displaying any signs of pain, still acts like an old cat her age does, still active, but she's lost weight and some of her strength. So I would imagine this will be her last year. Woldan Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 (edited) Hardest thing about having a cat or a dog, they die on you. Only if its by accident or through an early illness, I felt not sorry for all the pets and people close to me who died, when they perished I reflected on their lives and always came to the conclusion they had a wonderful ride. And then their time simply came. Many beings are denied of such a nice fate. In those cases I feel no grief nor loss and move on like nothing ever happened. Edited March 6, 2015 by Woldan I gazed at the dead, and for one dark moment I saw a banquet.
Cantousent Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I can dig that, Woldan, but I still feel bad losing a pet. I've had to have five pets put down, buried one myself, and one of my cats literally died in my arms while I was trying to give her medicine. On the other hand, I swore at that time that I wasn't going to punish any more pets by trying to keep them alive when all they could do was suffer. I want them to be healthy, and we'll drop the cash for our pets when we won't for a lot of other things, but when their lives become nothing but torture, you've got to say goodbye. 1 Fionavar's Holliday Wishes to all members of our online community: Happy Holidays Join the revelry at the Obsidian Plays channel:Obsidian Plays Remembering tarna, Phosphor, Metadigital, and Visceris. Woldan Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 (edited) The only animal that ever died in my hands was a 4-year old bunny when I was a kid, I loved it but then it got that horrible head-tilt illness for which there is no cure nor treatment. In the end it choked in my own arms. What still haunts me is that it suffered so much, trashing around and not getting any air for hours, I was only a kid but even back then I should have had the guts to end its misery. It was a hard lesson, as soon as you realize that there is no hope stop the bullsh!t and put it to sleep immediately. When my cat was put to sleep it was a good end and he had a very long beautiful life. Edited March 6, 2015 by Woldan I gazed at the dead, and for one dark moment I saw a banquet.
Malcador Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Can`t discount emotions, my aunt put her dog down later than she should have but partly due to him being a memory of my uncle who died a couple of years earlier and they were super close. Woldan Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 (edited) Since nothing sucks more than having chicken legs and a weak back I did 5 sets dead lifts +2 max lifts and 120kg dumbbell squats with a really narrow stance (feet touching), 5 sets of 10 reps. Feels like picking up two 60kg suitcases over and over again. Simple, effective and really brutal, just how I like it.
