So I scooped up DreadOut, which sounds like a rastafarian dance game, but is actually a low budget (PS2-level graphics for the win!) Indonesian horror game heavily influenced by Fatal Frame.  I only played a bit and haven't had a chance to encounter an baddies yet.

Don't know yet.  I'm not familiar with Indonesian folklore so I have no idea what manner of beasties I'll be up against.  I just hope it's not zombies.

that reminds me. I have to finally plow through my screenshots for my Let's Play so I could keep playing BG2. no PoE beta anyway, and I need my RTWP fix

So Long War has this mechanic where the aliens have an internal "hate" counter which is determined by how well you're doing in the preceding month. If you're doing well then they'll direct more resources directly at fighting you, if you're doing ...not so well, then they'll focus on trying to take over countries. I guess they hate me at the moment, the order went out to send all the UFOs. There's no way I have enough healthy soldiers to tackle all this, especially since that Covert Mission is coming.

 

 

 

Fortunately Exalt are still idiots despite their enhanced firepower.

And, once again, thanks for your tip about this game, one of the best casual games I've laid my hands on. S.o...v.e.r.y...n.i.c.e.!

It hearkens back to when I spent hours after school playing Hack, and at uni, Nethack. It's meditative, and certainly the kind of Rogue-like stuff that lead game devs almost everywhere pay homage to in their creations and easter eggs. Mmm - pure discovery, levelling...
