Rosbjerg
I'm not a superstitious person but I just had an extremely bad feeling, like something awful just happened. Odd. The brain is a super pattern recognizer, that tries to make sense of each and all sensory inputs it gets, you might be hearing a noise that registeres just below what you percieve (and it's annoying you), or there might've been a continuous, but minute, drop and rise in pressure.. or whatever indicates storms are coming. Something akin to the brain going "hmmmmm, I don't quite get it.. spooky" It's freaky though, I get that feeling from time to time too and it's sooo easy to jump to supernatural or superstitious conclusions, but that just goes to show how easy it was to cheat people back in the day (and well, this day).. Fortune favors the bald.

Labadal
Spent four hours with my mom at the emergency. I was scared ****less. Out of nowhere she tells me "You've got to call the hospital" and I'm all like "Why, what's wrong"? She tells me her chest hurts and the pain gets worse when she breathes. When I asked her for how long this had been going on, she said for about two hours. I was ready to punch the wall when she said two hours. I had my uncle drive us there and it turns out she has fibrillation (only translation I can think of). Seeing her pulse change like it did when she was hooked up to the machine made my mood really darken. They checked her and she is now going to be taking anticoagulants for the rest of her life. Some pills for the heart, and some other stuff I need to check for her tomorrow. At least it is good to know that she can get treatment, even if hearing about these things was hard. We'll see how it goes from here. At least now I know why she kept getting dizzy and some other issues she had. Came home and to calm my nerves, I did what I always do: Play PC/video games. Labadal
Thanks guys. In happier news, I might be back at work starting next Monday. I also went for a nice walk. About 8km all in all. I usually take longer ones but I felt that was enough for today. It's hot and rainy so the conditions aren't really ideal, imo.
Raithe
Having one of those days where I'm just feeling incredibly grey and introverted and don't actually want to interact with people. Trying to get my focus in so I can get a workout tonight, just have a couple more before Tough Mudder on Sunday, and I want a day or so to relax before then. Of course, the weather's turned here. We've gone from the heat-wave to being lashed with the edge of hurricane weather from the Atlantic, so grey skies, plenty of thunder and lashings of rain with odd hail. I'm hoping it'll break by the weekend and settle somewhere between slashing rain and blazing heat... "Cuius testiculos habeas, habeas cardia et cerebellum." Woldan
Today I finally lost it, ripped the keyboard in half and kicked the parts out of the window. After this shameful display of lack of self control in front of my co-workers I need to went my anger through rigorous cycling. And its raining like crazy. Perfect. @ Labadal Sorry to hear about your moms health issues, luckily the problem has been identified before anything bad happened. Lexx
At the occupational therapy today I finally got my cast removed for half an hour. I can move my forefinger quite good. Next up is the little finger. Can barely move my ring finger and my middle finger doesn't really work at all. Now I'll hope to get them all going again in the next few weeks. The suture looks pretty good so far. It's still a bit swollen, but this is nothing unusual. All in all I am relieved. 1 "only when you no-life you can exist forever, because what does not live cannot die."
BruceVC
I went back to gym today after not going for 18 days, I was in London for the last 10 days and I had a break for a week. I do an hour of cardio and I thought I would be horribly unfit but I found my cardio went surprisingly well, I was able to everything I normally do except for running at the same speed on the treadmill. But that's understandable One reason for my unexpected fitness I assume was the fact we did loads of walking in London, we went for at least 3 x 10-14 km walks. But I never thought walking was a good cardio workout because its not very physically strenuous? Walsingham
Labadal, I stumbled across a paper you might want to check out, today. Cognitive distancing, cognitive restructuring, and cardiovascular recovery from stressBritta A. Larsen∗, Nicholas J.S. Christenfeld; 2011 In recent years, studies have confirmed that recovery time is also a significant predictor of future heart cardiovascular disorders. Here we review these studies, as well as the cognitions and behaviors that have been found to influence recovery. Edited August 11, 2014 by Walsingham 1 "It wasn't lies. You shouldn't lose even one bit of your endurance or strength during or after a 7-day break, as long as you haven't been abusing your body with loads of alcohol and junk food. Endurance and strength loss starts at 1+ month of not doing any of your exercises, and its a slooooow process. In fact, some people get stronger and better when de-laoding for two weeks. (I don't though) Interesting post and it makes sense, but I did miss gym for 18 days, not 7 days But you also right about my diet. I didn't drink that much and we ate relatively healthily considering I was on holiday. So I had yoghurt for breakfast several times and sushi for dinner twice..and obviously the constant walking in London would have helped But I see what you are saying about the 1 month rule, good to know, But now I'm back I will be on a very strict gym routine. I plan to go 6 times a week for the next month. I normally go 4-6 times a week "Abashed the devil stood and felt how awful goodness is and saw Virtue in her shape how lovely: and pined his loss” John Milton "We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” - George Bernard Shaw "What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived.
