Finished Tropes vs Orks. Despite its flaws (linear level design, bare-bones stealth, mediocre voice-over except for main characters) it still manages to beat Katawa Shoujo as my GOTY. Amazing that a small studio like Cyanide manages to churn out two titles in the same year. Then again, Larian is doing the same next year.

Cool. I was wondering what they were up to.

There used to be a signature here, a really cool one...and now it's gone.

Going to try to finish this blasted 2nd playthru of BL2 with hubby today, before the baseball game comes on.

Btw, does Bonehead2 show up every time? We never saw him in PT1...maybe he shows up only in PT2? Random? We just missed him?

I've given up on my BL1 play through. The lack of a "main story quest" is off putting for me. It's like I'm just getting a whole bunch of random fetch quests, with no real reason given for any of them.

He should show up every time. I remember fighting him in my PT1.

Of Orcs and Men? Just how good it is? It's on my wishlist and I'm debating whether to wait for a sale or just grab it.

Day of the Tentacle. I need a break from all the "serious" games.

I hoped they would make special editions from Day of the Tentacle and Sam & Max Hit the Road like they did from Monkey Islands, but I guess thats not going to happen. I wish they would let GOG sell the originals at least, would buy them instantly.

I had the triangle box for DOTT, but it vanished. Luckily i managed to get this some years ago.

More Morrowind, I spent freaking hours tracking down souls for my Telvanni stronghold, turns out I needed Storm Atronachs and not Frost Atronachs so I need to do it all over again, derp.

Buy spell, make potions of fortify intelligence if necessary, and enchant amulet or ring with Summon X.

Planning on doing an Amnesia Video Let's Play sometime soon so people can laugh at my cowardice. I never got past the first monster encounter - freaked me out so much I quit and uninstalled the damned thing.

Fallen Enchantress campaign. I like the production quality of their cutscenes, but it's a tedious jaunt otherwise.

Think I should finish Unfinished Swan first, actually.

I think I'm getting closer to the end of my first playthrough of DA2. I finished Mark of the Assassin. Was kind of fun and a nice break from Kirkwall (which really is getting on my nerves now). Nice touch that you can chose between sneaking and brute force your way through the end part of the DLC. Dear Bioware... next time, swap Tallis and Sebastian. The former was way more interesting as a character (even if I was inches from just killing her at the end). Yeah, Kirkwall, Templars, Mages and Anders' constant whinging is taking a bit of fun out of the game, but the inter party banter is somewhere between good and brilliant. Makes wandering around less of a chore. Only a few side quests left to do in the third section of the game, so might as well return to the main plot.

Edit to add: Managed to get started on XCOM yesterday. Still going through the tutorial levels. Lost a rookie during the first escort mission (damn teleporting aliens) :(

My stupidity shines through again. I have two games of BG2 going at the same time, one more of a good play through, the other more evil. Anyway, my good play through is at Chapter 3, so I decided to switch over to my evil play through to catch up to the same point. As I'm playing my evil play through, I decide to save and go for something to eat. Guess which save file I saved over?

So basically I have to start my good play through all over again. That's what I get for not paying attention and just clicking on whichever save file I saw first. ;(

Isabela and Varric make for a great combo for party banters. Aveline is a great third too IMO (my favourite group right there)

Well, that's the thing, unlike DA:O where I found Sten and Zevran had most of the interesting lines between them, the DA2 ones are pretty well balanced. I find myself constantly swapping party members because most of them has something amusing/interesting to say regardless how you pair them :)

Agreed.

What part of the main plot are you at?

If we count the Deep Roads expedition and the Qunari trying to burn down the city as main plot parts, I would say I'm in the third part. Meredith has finally shown herself and asked me to pay her a visit. Been postponing that for a bit while dealing with the more esoteric stuff.

Edit to add: Last activity was a very large dragon putting an end to the Gorth & Hubert Mining Co. :(

Okay. I hope you didn't try to one on one the Arishok

Oh, I think I did (if you mean the personal combat/duel thing). Never underestimate the power of Assassinate and Twin Fangs. Besides, he wanted to run away with Isabella. Wasn't quite willing to let her go yet, I enjoy her company too much :p

So far, the two major detractors for the game (for me) is the dissing of the old combat/skill system and the asset recycling. On the other hand, I like the plot and story better in DA2 compared to DA:O, but then I was never the save the kingdom/universe kind of guy. Personal survival and climbing the social ladder is stuff I can relate to. Now, if I could just have the best of both worlds... :-

The only thing I would wish for companion wise would be some more "manly" men besides Varric. Not because I share peoples fascination with his chest hair, but between the emo wizard, the goth elf and the whimpy priest running away from the responsibility of leadership, they are in a bit of short supply. Ah well, I suppose that's what 'Gorth' is there for ;)

I had one of those WTF moments previously when I was suddenly playing as Varric and the mansion where Bertram was hiding was full of thugs, just lining up to get killed in droves... until I realised I was part of the story

I like that we tried to tell a more personal story. Though some feel that Hawke is too passive and as a result the story kind of falls flat for them. Act 3 is the weakest of the acts IMO though. And yes, the Varric scene with his brother was great. Part of the plan was to do stuff like that a bit more, particularly at the start of each Act, but I guess some internal feedback was that it was a bit too spoilerish (it'd often show what was happening at the end of the act) and started to get a bit old.

My internal joke was that Varric should have rick-rolled the fan base, and cut to Cassandra looking at him unimpressed, but alas not everyone agrees with my awesome ideas :-

We were raked over the coals for the level reuse (for good reason), as well as just variation in the setting (many people grew tired of Kirkwall).
