HoonDing Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 You need to use power attacks in melee to win battles. With default swings you barely hurt the enemy. Wait til you meet Orcs or ghouls. Dark Messiah is really fun if you don't abuse the kick cheese like the game wants you to. Use fire traps, charm spells, telekinesis to liven things up. Sniping with the bow is the best tactics against undead. The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.
Gorgon Posted November 23, 2010 Author Posted November 23, 2010 Yeah I restarted on normal, and now everything is too easy. Don't have the patience to restart again and I don't think you can change difficulty in game. I think I'll just handicap myself by not upping my health. Na na na na na na ... greg358 from Darksouls 3 PVP is a CHEATER. That is all.
mkreku Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Dark Messiah is really fun if you don't abuse the kick cheese... I hated Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, but then again.. that's exactly what I did. I mean, you could not swing a dead cat without hitting a ledge full of deadly barrels, a wall full of spikes, an orc balancing on the edge of a bottomless pit, etc. The game never felt clever or made you feel clever for finding ways of using your surroundings. No, instead if threw everything in your face and basically forced you to kick people into spikes. I mean, the choice was between sluggish melee combat with a chance of dying after three minutes of struggling, or just push the win-button for an instant kill. Yeah, completely opposite experience to me. It's like when somebody comes along and tries my favourite beer (Kilkenny, incidentally) and says it tastes like cat urine. It's hard not to feel personally offended.
Tale Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 I think we should beat him up in a dark alley. What do you think, Krezack? "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."

Azure79 Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 I'm thinking of purchasing either Dragon Knight Saga, Risen or Arcania: Gothic 4. Leaning towards Dragon Knight Saga currently. Which game has the most interesting story?

HoonDing Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 In Arcania you're a shepherd that saves the world. The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.
mkreku Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 In Risen you're a stowaway on a ship that wrecks against a small, weird island! Then you have to.. uh.. fight and.. uh.. gather.. flowers.. OK, get the Dragon Knight Saga. Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!
Azure79 Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Dragon Knight Saga it is. I did really like the first Divinity.
SteveThaiBinh Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Dragon Knight Saga it is. I did really like the first Divinity. Beyond Divinity wasn't as good, but is still worth a look if you liked the first one. I enjoyed Divinity II as well, and am thinking about getting the Dragon Knight Saga. Is River of Time available for (legal) download in English anywhere? I heard it's coming to Steam eventually. "An electric puddle is not what I need right now." (Nina Kalenkov)
Azure79 Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 I have a copy of Beyond Divinity somewhere. I could never get into it. The black knight was extremely annoying for some reason.
Maria Caliban Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 In Risen you're a stowaway on a ship that wrecks against a small, weird island! Then you have to.. uh.. fight and.. uh.. gather.. flowers.. OK, get the Dragon Knight Saga. I'd say the story of Risen is better than the story of DKS. "When is this out. I can't wait to play it so I can talk at length about how bad it is." - Gorgon.
sorophx Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 (edited) the funny thing is Two Worlds 2 has a story very similar to Risen... Nyskrte Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Shame on all of you for not mentioning Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate 2 + ToB, Icewind Dale 1+2 or Planescape: Torment. They are all crazy cheap, epic in length. If you can look past the dated 2D isometric graphics, play these. If you've already played them, play them again.

Are they new games? Which console are they on?

While those are all brilliant games, almost all of the regulars here (or literally all of them?) have played and completed those games.
Purkake Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 (edited) Penny Arcade Adventures 1/2 is pretty good. As is Barkley, Shut Up & Jam: Gaiden which is free. Oh, and Dark Messiah is awesome, if a bit lite on the RPG-ness. And maybe King's Bounty? Edited November 25, 2010 by Purkake
Serrano Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 ^ Dozens of times. Literally. Oh fun fact, Nyskrte did you know that the Gromnir in Throne of Bhaal was based on and named after the Gromnir who posts on this forum?
