WorstUsernameEver Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Silenced .22 has to be the worst gun in the game. I was getting shield icons shooting at guys in clothes. It serves no gameplay purpose outside of casinos. It's pretty much the 'casino gun'. And it's the gun I used to kill Benny
Thorton_AP Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 It came in handy after I ganked one in one of the casinos when I was weaponless I also had max guns which also helped I'm sure.
LadyCrimson Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 (edited) I guess there is a point to the issue that the character runs slow. You can speed it up in the editor but...I don't play enough shooters to be always-used to how fast chr. movement/strafing should be. FONV doesn't feel all that slow in that regard to me...that is, I don't find it much slower than Borderlands movements (which wasn't a 'real shooter' either, tho), or what I remember of Half-Life2/Quakes. It mostly feels like enemy movement is faster than in those games. But I'll take your guys word for it. And I'm not complaining either. As long as there are options that help me deal with whatever the weakness (or my weakness), I'm cool. Most times ranged works and like I said, that's why I like at least one companion to cover my arse. It just amuses me/amazes me sometimes how fast the enemies are in RT. lol VATS: the terrible inability to (sometimes) accurately target the piece of a monster that you want is one reason I don't like using VATS. Seemed like every time I tried VATS, I'd want to click on the head or torso, but the game wouldn't let me because it kept insisting my mouse/cursor was clicking on a claw or leg. It drove me insane. Even past that tho, mostly I don't like pausing the game/action because I don't find that fun for my adrenaline. Plus, VATS is just ugly, as pointed out by others. Thorton_AP Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 To be fair I believe his clothes is actually armor haha.
WorstUsernameEver Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Yup. Benny's suit gives DT, though I don't remember how much.

HoonDing Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Casino employees and the Legion are not very smart. They do not confiscate C-4 from my character... nor confiscate anything from ED-E. Though that may be a bug. The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.
LadyCrimson Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Oh yeah...also, VATS means I can't pause the game to get a nice monster screenie w/out numbers & squares all over it. I've resorted to rela time & grabbing video frames. I didn't realize armor slows you down, either. Is it only the power suits? I'm wearing combat armor (DT15 I think?) and I don't feel any slower. Maybe it's not enough for me to really notice tho. “Things are as they are. And I think they should take the C4 too, but that may be intended. @ladycrimson: Light armor doesn't slow you down. Medium armor slows you down so little that it means very little. Heavy armor slows you a bit, but unless you're using melee/unarmed and have to follow escaping enemies it's not really a problem. Edited November 5, 2010 by WorstUsernameEver

You don't need the .22. Actually, not quite. What Mr. Holdout says is misleading. You don't need a sneak check at most casinos to use the holdout option. Only one casino has the sneak check for it, in fact. The rest have it by default. And it's only a limited selection of weapons that qualify, such as the .22 and 9mm. I don't think revolvers can be snuck in at all. "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."

HoonDing Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 I noticed Cass managed to keep her .44 magnum revolver in all casinos. Maybe it had to do with my high sneak. The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.
Tale Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 (edited) It may have been a bug. Lily kept her assault rifle! Until I checked her inventory, then she lost that too. And some people report ED-E keeping all his stored weapons. And some people report getting the companion weapons returned to the player inventory. The behavior is wacky. Maybe I should double check it in the GECK. I know for a fact that the best my first character could sneak in with a high sneak was Maria. But maybe there's more going on than I thought. LadyCrimson Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Two things slow you down.1) Medium or heavy armor. 2) Having a two handed weapon drawn. I did notice two handed melee weapons were pretty slow to swing, and I did notice the slow down between having a weapon drawn and not having one drawn at all, but not so much between different weapons drawn. Hm. I'll have to pay more attention. “Things are as they are. WorstUsernameEver Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Note that a good deal of two handed melee weapons also have pretty steep str requirements from what I've seen, so they may be slow for that reason too. Especially since, weirdly enough, rebar clubs and bumper swords are far easier to find than nail boards.

Tale Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 (edited) Maybe you can sneak in the .357. But your sneak check seems irrelevant, at least for Tops. I know you can't sneak in That Gun. Like I said, maybe I should check the toolset for specifics. Okay, here's what the wiki says. There's two lists and a 50 sneak check is required to get the improved list. Apparently Maria isn't on the regular list, just the improved list. As is the .357 and .44. But That Gun is on neither. HoonDing Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Well, the C-4 I snuck into Caesar's camp turned the meeting with the Great Emperor himself into comedy gold. Easily the highlight of the main quest for me, after Black Widowing Benny. The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.
taviow Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 What's with not including Floaters in FO3 and NV?
entrerix Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 its weird, i was expecting them in nv too Killing is kind of like playin' a basketball game. I am there. and the other player is there. and it's just the two of us. and I put the other player's body in my van. and I am the winner. - Nice Pete.

I imagine they made it so you can always sneak in holdout weapons but they probably couldn't remove the line at the time due to Localization issues and whatnot.
