PoetAndMadman Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 So, we will have the announcement in just two days. Meantime, here's the first screenshot showing Necro Hero, and Haven (i think) castle. and concept art showing one necro unit: It seems that the game has very simillar art direction to Heroes V. But concept art shows that maybe the units will look a little more realistic this time. DISCUSS
WorstUsernameEver Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Looks good. I'm not really a fan of Heros of Might & Magic though, so I guess I don't have the perspective a fan would have. ..also, no news about gameplay as of now, right? Assuming it isn't a hoax.

To be honest it doesn;t look like a hoax. No news about the gameplay we will have to wait till wednesday for that. But screenshot confirms that it's still a turn based strategy. And concept art shows that there will be upgrades to creatures HOMM3&5 style. I hope that they will take some ideas from Tribes of The East.

Gorth Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 I wonder if that franchise can dig itself out of the mire it immersed itself in? IV was a disaster and V no good. Kings Bounty is the only clone that managed to bring a bit of fun back, but even that is a pale shadow of what it was from III and before (and lets pretend that Disciples III was never made). “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice.” - Albert Einstein
sorophx Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 (edited) so who's developing? V was very good, just as good as III (and I've played 'em all). the new King's Bounty and it's addon are essentially very different from what Heroes are, same goes for Age of Wonders and Disciples. I have a couple of friends who think Heroes IV is the best in the series, and that game had a few nice ideas. I want to see the best of IV make it's way into VI. Well actually I find Tribes of the East (the second expansion to V) to be an excellent Heroes game. It's just behind Homm3 for me, and I play it in hotseat mode, much more these days then the classic third part.
PoetAndMadman Posted August 16, 2010 Author Posted August 16, 2010 (edited) Looks like it's confirmed Wow it seems UBI was fast. No Trailer anymore on that site. New screenshots: 1 2 3 4 5 Next Edit: And a trailer HOMMVI Trailer How do you like it? Personally I like the new art direction, that's simillar to Heroes V but at the same time less cartoonish and I think a little bit darker. Edited August 16, 2010 by PoetAndMadman
Morgoth Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Any words on the DRM? Rain makes everything better.
Oner Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 so who's developing?Black Hole Entertainment. They made Warhammer: Mark of Chaos and Armies of Exigo. Mera Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 (edited) New screenshots:1 2 3 4 5 Wood, ore, crystals and the rest is where? Next Edit:And a trailer HOMMVI Trailer Black Hole Entertainment? Nice, while I found Mark of Chaos rather average, expansion pack (Battle March) was brilliant. How do you like it? Personally I like the new art direction, that's simillar to Heroes V but at the same time less cartoonish and I think a little bit darker. Indeed. Any words on the DRM? Yeah and the amusing thing is Ubisoft changed DRM in Heroes 5 from Starforce to Securom after fans protested Edited August 16, 2010 by Mera

Can only comment on the screenshots (since the trailer download is awfully slow). I liked HoMM V (okay was my first HoMM) but these screenshots, even though similiar to HoMM V, are a bit too (whats the word?) glaring or flashy for my taste. But i will give it a try once its out. sorophx Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 there's a streaming video too, don't have to dl the trailer, but it's completely CGI, so you didn't miss anything that wasn't in the screenshots already Walsingham said: I was struggling to understand ths until I noticed you are from Finland. Tigranes Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Never played the HoMMs but KB might make me check this oneo ut. Game looks very post-WoW, but meh, that's not a big deal. Let's Play: Icewind Dale Ironman (Complete) Let's Play: Icewind Dale II Ironman (Complete) Let's Play: Divinity II (Complete) Let's Play: Baldur's Gate Trilogy Ironman - BG1 (Complete) Let's Play: Baldur's Gate Trilogy Ironman - BG2 (In Progress)
Walsingham Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 After massively slating HoMMV on first playing it I'm finding it much better. It's still got some major gui problems, and the visual design is nauseating, but the core gameplay is quite solid, by which I mean you can apply operational and tactical nous to beat superior forces. Undecaf Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Wood, ore, crystals and the rest is where? Good question. Hopefully not in the cutting room floor. Perkele, tiädäksää tuanoini!"It's easier to tolerate idiots if you do not consider them as stupid people, but exceptionally gifted monkeys."
sorophx Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 I like the part about the strategy/RPG mix and the extra-large maps Walsingham said: I was struggling to understand ths until I noticed you are from Finland. PoetAndMadman Posted August 18, 2010 Author Posted August 18, 2010 Pretty cool concept art\wallpaper I like the look of Necropolis faction, it looks very egyptian\babilonian inspired. Also it seems that Bone Dragons are replaced by Undead Sphinx. There is also some lady that looks like drider.
Slowtrain Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 Kotaku preview. According to that article it's kind of a blend between HoMM and M&M. Interesting. Notice how I can belittle your beliefs without calling you names. It's a useful skill to have particularly where you aren't allowed to call people names. It's a mistake to get too drawn in/worked up. I mean it's not life or death, it's just two guys posting their thoughts on a message board. If it were personal or face to face all the usual restraints would be in place, and we would never have reached this place in the first place. Try to remember that.
