Deraldin
Except maybe for those that have the Collector Rifle, why would anyone pick up the Assault Rifle skill? Doesn't it replace the SMGs which seemingly never run out of ammo? I grabbed the sniper rifle and never looked back. I didn't need a slight upgrade at medium range when the SMG worked just fine burst firing with the occasional biotic or tech ability thrown in for good measure. Technically, the SMG is meant to be good against shields, but not so great against armor.. While the Assault Rifle is meant to be equally good against shields , armor, and health. Plus it works better to pick them off at longer range and is a bit more steady if you're ripping off long bursts at the enemy. If I needed to go through armour, I tended to switch over to the hand cannon. That thing ate up armour like it wasn't there.

On normal, I found myself mostly rotating between it and the SMG, depending on the expected engagement distance, as with AP ammo the SMG wasn't too shabby, either. btw. Insanity + early game + regenerating vorcha&krogans = major hair-pulling. You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that? RPGmasterBoo
Dunno why you people bothered, any weapon + incineration ammo + a few upgrades beats everything. Once I maxed out incineration ammo I never switched it off. Yeah, getting "Inferno Ammo" evolution was fun.. why I kept Grunt with me for most of the Collector suicide run "Cuius testiculos habeas, habeas cardia et cerebellum." RPGmasterBoo
For some reason the Collectors were the easiest opponents in the game for me. They only came in two or three varietes and all were low on shields so incineration ammo made mincemeat out of them. Most of the time my biotics just threw them off the platforms so I didn't even have to kill them. WILL THE ALMIGHTY
btw. Insanity + early game + regenerating vorcha&krogans = major hair-pulling. That was incredibly easy as a soldier, even on insanity. The sniper rifle (first one you get) along with incinerate ammo killed any vorcha one shot and tore up krogan armor. Same with the shotgun. It was a lot of fun actually. "Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons. I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!" Raithe
I found the two.. hm, Praetorians you face in the game a bit annoying. The first one on Horizon was the repeated bouncing around cover because it came close, and then the one on the Ghost Ship that's bouncing at you while the Husks swarm.. You'd take down it's shields.. have to reload to take down it's armor.. and during the reload it would hit the ground, do that squat, blast of energy, and it's shields would be back up 100%.. Volourn
Sniper rifle is cool. I *always* use that to pick off enemies far way. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.

Yeah it was annoying. The first one much more because the cover system is unresponsive and the bug kept frying me. The second I saw the other one I shoved a mini nuke down its throat. Most comical of all was a side mission against the Eclipse. As a sort of boss at the end a gunship appears. I let it kill me. Next time before the event trigger I started loading the nuke... and as it was rising -blasted it There was the explosion and... nothing. Vaporized. It looked so funny, because it was supposed to be such an intimidating moment... and the thing just disappeared Imperium Thought for the Day: Even a man who has nothing can still offer his life
Raithe
I only used the nuke twice in the game.. both times during the final fight. Didn't quite get the mushroom cloud effect..but definitely lots of plenty flashing lights around that human-reaper's skull "Cuius testiculos habeas, habeas cardia et cerebellum."
