Hurlshort Posted August 16, 2009 Share Posted August 16, 2009 I would ignore all the MMO naysayers here, it's a genre of games they dislike, but there are a lot of folks that play them regularly on these forums. WoW really is worth a try if you have an interest in the genre, it is king because it does so much so well. But downloading on dial-up is pretty rough. If you go to a store and buy the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, that will get you fairly well updated, you will probably only have to dl'ed a gig or two. That said, if you are looking for a single player experience, go elsewhere. The stuff you can do solo is not what makes you stay with the game. Calax Posted August 16, 2009 Share Posted August 16, 2009 WoW, is an Mutliplayer... all MMO's are Multiplayer, (hence the term, massive mutliplayer Online). Dial up does allow you to play the game, but the problem comes when you hit the end game content because most of that has particle effects and other visually intensive stiuations that will make your gpu start cussing, and that in tern means that more data is being shoved through your internet to tell it what to do. If he buys the most recent expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, he gets 30 days for free with the price of the game, and he would only have to update it minimally by installing off the discs. Well my dad is the one who is going to decide whether I can get it. Hey, um, I know i have to have the original game, but must I have Burning Crusade as well?
