Morgoth Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 Finally managed to advance in Resident Evil 4. Now I'm in Chapter 3, armed with a new Riot shotgun, and ready to shoot some zombie monks! I'm still pissed though that the new upcoming RE for Wii is a on-rails shooter. I mean, screw them for doing this! Rain makes everything better.
Bos_hybrid Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 Romance of the Three kingdoms XI and DW6:Empires. Thinking of installing IW and giving it another run through.
Deraldin Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 Tiberium Wars. Got to Croatia with GDI... *shutter*. Heh. Everyone always says that mission was really hard, but I swear it's nothing compared to the nuke convoy in the Nod campaign. That thing is a hard mission to beat on anything but easy.

That thing is a hard mission to beat on anything but easy. well the fact you have to micro manage base defenses with power AND micro manage the team that runs out to get the MCV is FAR harder than just "protect the nuke". I was able to do the nuke on my first try, this'll be my third on Croatia. Victor of the 5 year fan fic competition! Kevin Butler will awesome your face off.

GreasyDogMeat Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 (edited) Finally managed to advance in Resident Evil 4. Now I'm in Chapter 3, armed with a new Riot shotgun, and ready to shoot some zombie monks! I'm still pissed though that the new upcoming RE for Wii is a on-rails shooter. I mean, screw them for doing this! I thought the original RE games were pretty neat, but I never got too excited about them. RE 4 on the other hand just blew me away. While RE 5 doesn't advance much from the formula of RE 4, and in fact is worse as a single player experience, the coop more than made up for it. Just so much fun trying to survive with a buddy. You should think of the Wii games as for those who never played the original trilogy, as its basically a recap of their stories in a 'Wii friendly' game. Wish they would do something similar for the 360. Edited July 11, 2009 by GreasyDogMeat

I was able to do the nuke on my first try, this'll be my third on Croatia. I had no problem with the micro management, but I always got swarmed and then one of the nukes would go off and it would cause a chain reaction setting the others off and then there was nothing left alive on the map.

Morgoth Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Resident Evil 4. Chapter 4. Stuck again. Yay! Is that monster in the sewers even vulnerable? Or should I just run 3 minutes long in circles until the elevator arrives? Rain makes everything better.
WILL THE ALMIGHTY Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Just drop the big gas tanks to the ground. It should freeze him (don't remember if you have to shoot the tanks, don't think so). THEN you can start dealing damage to him. You could run around for 3 minutes too, beating him is optional. "Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons. I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"
GreasyDogMeat Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Yeah, he was tough the first time I played. I did notice those barrels had odd descriptions so I figured they would play into beating him.
Majek Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Man all this talk about RE4 is making me want to play it. And since i don't have any other than the PC version, i guess that one will have to do. I don't really need mouse support and don't care about graphics so i should be fine ... or not? 1.13 killed off Ja2.

And since i don't have any other than the PC version, i guess that one will have to do. I don't really need mouse support and don't care about graphics so i should be fine ... or not? Good luck. I couldn't think how to play it without my Wii-remote thingy. Anyways, got that bastard (thanks for the tip!), and played further. It seems I'm now (again) facing a huge monster, this time it's the one with that little annoying man in it's blossom(?). So I shoot the eye, blossom opens, shoot little man, repeat, until the plant eats me without warning, or any QTE to avoid. Hmm. Edit: Ok, seems like I just have to run away when the plant wants to eat me. Oh well... Edited July 12, 2009 by Morgoth Rain makes everything better.
Pidesco Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Mount and Blade seems pretty awesome. "My hovercraft is full of eels!" - Hungarian tourist I am Dan Quayle of the Romans. I want to tattoo a map of the Netherlands on my nether lands. Heja Sverige!! Everyone should cuffawkle more. The wrench is your friend.
Majek Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Hmm RE4 seems pretty fun, i might even start to like it once i get back into all that stop and aim and shoot/stab/slash ... if i don't there's always Dead space :D 1.13 killed off Ja2.
Tigranes Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Baldur's Gate marathon again, last one was over 6 months ago. Must be the first time this decade that I went so long without. :/ Picked a druid as mainchar for the first time to go through BGTutu - I actually have no idea how druids are done in pnp, but I really wish they'd go all out with this class. Give them a lot fewer spell slots than clerics, deprive them of more cleric spells, give them a huge variety of transformation abilities and later the ability to summon animals while you are transformed yourself. In other words a specialised animal horde machine, rather than a cleric with branches sticking out the ears. Ah well. Switched to wild mage for BG2. New computer can handle Sword Coast Stratagems AI / combat mod without a hitch so that's presented quite a few challenges. The Unseeing Eye's three Horrid Wiltings destroyed my entire party (even though I had the rod) and mainchar only survived through a couple of save rolls to drop the last fireball. I have Edwin in the party as well - maybe I'll get Irenicus in the party (Longer Road mod) in TOB and go for an insane magefest, just for kicks. Deraldin Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Interestingly enough, My Windows 7 64-bit installation seems to handle Baldur's Gate just fine with the single exception of the weather effects. I get single digit frame rates for about 10-15 seconds between weather changes, but otherwise no issues. Running through BG1 with STS was a huge pain in the butt. It's been so long since I've played it that I don't recall how much was STS and how much was just BG1 but I was getting absolutely destroyed by mages that would nail me with level 4 spells when I'm still putting around with Melf's Acid Arrows as my most potent offensive spell. Having half my group held and the other half running in fear gave me a new appreciation for disabling spells. I lost track of the number of times I had my group taken out while all I could do was sit there and watch. Running through BG2 now and having a much easier time now that I'm the one throwing around horror and hold spells. Backstabbing thieves can go to hell with their stupid large number of invisibility potions. I had the last laugh though!

Hell Irenicus is... hell. Did you get the BG1 version too? If you haven't, you may want to get aVENGER's Rogue Rebalancing, or at the very least, aTweaks. That one has a component that makes fighter innates uninterruptable, so it's worth getting for that alone. - When he is best, he is a little worse than a man, and when he is worst, he is little better than a beast.

Aristes Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 If the rest of the family ever jumps ship on WoW, I'm heading to LotRO myself. I thought it was great. PVP is less than a laugh, I warn you. Atmosphere and story are much better, though.
Tigranes Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 SCS is awesome. Hell Irenicus is... hell. Did you get the BG1 version too? Yes I did. I've played through Tactics (the original), Improved Battles, Improved Anvil, etc., and SCS is quite clearly the best. Rogue Rebalancing's always been good, too. I just wish that someone does a proper mod that shoehorns in 3rd ed rules to remove hard class restrictions on weapons and armour.
