Purkake Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 (edited) Here's something fun to waste a few minutes on: Akinator It's basically a 20 questions guessing game, but it learns from it's users so it's super smart. Edited April 14, 2009 by Purkake
Deadly_Nightshade Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 I won. "Geez. It's like we lost some sort of bet and ended up saddled with a bunch of terrible new posters on this forum." -Hurlshot
Purkake Posted April 14, 2009 Author Posted April 14, 2009 Protips: Try clicking "yes" or "no" and nothing else. Try yourself or some internet memes.
Pidesco Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 It guessed Marie Curie and Raskolnikov, but floundered with Faust. "My hovercraft is full of eels!" - Hungarian tourist I am Dan Quayle of the Romans. I want to tattoo a map of the Netherlands on my nether lands. Heja Sverige!! Everyone should cuffawkle more. The wrench is your friend.
Purkake Posted April 14, 2009 Author Posted April 14, 2009 It guessed Marie Curie and Raskolnikov, but floundered with Faust. Well, it has been starved on a diet of anime and video games. Some classic literature will probably do wonders for it.
Rosbjerg Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 It guessed both Don Quijote and Winston Smith .. amazing.. Both times I made sure that I had no browsers open with their names or anything, as I thought the program might be able to access what that info (or something).. I'm very impressed! Third time I decided to give it a big challenge and chose the character of Erasmus Montanus writted by Ludvig Holberg.. I won of course Fortune favors the bald.
Kaftan Barlast Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Ive played with it before, it does some very odd and quick selections that made me wonder wether it looks at other websites Im browsig and so on. It was like: Are you thinking of a television presenter? Yes. Does he have long hair? Yes. Its james May, isnt it? WTF?! Moose Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 I went for Dorian Gray. I'm kinda suprised it got it with the abstract questions it asked, but then it is a very popular character. There are none that are right, only strong of opinion. There are none that are wrong, only ignorant of facts
Gorth Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Whoopi Goldberg, Baron von Munchausen and Alexander the Great sure didn't fool it. Nor did the current US president Now, if they could extend it to narrow down the location of missing keys, socks etc... “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice.” - Albert Einstein
Moose Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Got him with Lord Chamberlain. He guessed John Lennon... There are none that are right, only strong of opinion. There are none that are wrong, only ignorant of facts
Gorgon Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 It's really eerie how good it is at guessing. Fail on Nameless one, Success with Annah. Although that was after I pointed it at Nameless One after it gave up. So it definitely takes your history into account, as well as your age, whether you put in an Asian or European sounding first name etc. Na na na na na na ... greg358 from Darksouls 3 PVP is a CHEATER. That is all.
Gorgon Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 (edited) It knew the Street Fighter series character named Garuda, but not what he was named after. Guessed 'Azumi' in like 10 questions. Edited April 14, 2009 by Gorgon Na na na na na na ... greg358 from Darksouls 3 PVP is a CHEATER. That is all.
Guard Dog Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 I stumped him with Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson and Ferdinand Magellan. But he got Aribeth right! Freaking Aribeth De Tylde-whatever and he got it. Apparently 1400 others thought that would stump him too. "While it is true you learn with age, the down side is what you often learn is what a damn fool you were before" Thomas Sowell
Guard Dog Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 made me wonder wether it looks at other websites Im browsig and so on. It was like: I wonder if that was why it kept asking if I was thinking of a porno star? Kidding! "While it is true you learn with age, the down side is what you often learn is what a damn fool you were before" Thomas Sowell
Gorgon Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 As said, then done : Is your character a porn star Is your character an animal Is your character disheveled Is your character petite What the.... Was the genie going for Gonzo the (actual) goat. Na na na na na na ... greg358 from Darksouls 3 PVP is a CHEATER. That is all.
Pidesco Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 It needed 19 questions to guess Haruko from Furi Kuri. "My hovercraft is full of eels!" - Hungarian tourist I am Dan Quayle of the Romans. I want to tattoo a map of the Netherlands on my nether lands. Heja Sverige!! Everyone should cuffawkle more. The wrench is your friend.
Bartimaeus Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 (edited) I think it needs more questions to get some of the harder ones...I tried Bartimaeus three times, but it never got it. But each time, in the correction thingy, it had Bartimaeus has as a likely canidate. (edit) I did Jarlaxle, and it got it, though. (edit) Can't seem to put his picture here...automatically goes to the genie fellow, lol (edit) Woops, seems to have fixed itself, lol (edit) I did Sarevok...and he got it on his first try?!?!?!? (edit) Got Firkraag, too, :D Creepy. Edited April 15, 2009 by Bartimaeus Quote How I have existed fills me with horror. For I have failed in everything - spelling, arithmetic, riding, tennis, golf; dancing, singing, acting; wife, mistress, whore, friend. Even cooking. And I do not excuse myself with the usual escape of 'not trying'. I tried with all my heart. In my dreams, I am not crippled. In my dreams, I dance.
samm Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Didn't guess Aimee Mann (suggested Cindy Lauper), but then again, I used a name like oaoao, a 71 years old woman. Didn't guess Carl McCoy (suggested Axl Rose), Didn't guess Walsingham (suggested Jack the Ripper ), but I answered "Is you character real" with "probably yes", so its confusion is understandable Did guess my English teacher (ok, he just said "your teacher"), but asked is he a teacher" on the 10th question and it took more than 20 to guess it. I'm underwhelmed. Citizen of a country with a racist, hypocritical majority
Walsingham Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Didn't guess Walsingham (suggested Jack the Ripper ), but I answered "Is you character real" with "probably yes", so its confusion is understandable You stay out of my mindapce, ye hear? It's wobbly enough in here as it is without people not believing in me. "It wasn't lies. It was just... bull****"." -Elwood Blues tarna's dead; processing... complete. Disappointed by Universe. RIP Hades/Sand/etc. Here's hoping your next alt has a harp.
Trenitay Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 It guessed Jesus, Optimus Prime, and Saladin but failed at Thomas Hobbes. Hey now, my mother is huge and don't you forget it. The drunk can't even get off the couch to make herself a vodka drenched sandwich. Octopus suck.
Kaftan Barlast Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 It got the goatsex man in like 10 questions, it was awesome DISCLAIMER: Do not take what I write seriously unless it is clearly and in no uncertain terms, declared by me to be meant in a serious and non-humoristic manner. Shryke Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 ha got it it guessed Adam Sandler when i was thinking of Kevin Smith when your mind works against you - fight back with substance abuse!
Aristes Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 It got stumped at Odysseus, which I find really weird. It managed to get Rodion and Sir Isaac Newton before hand, though. It's really not a win/lose game though. ...Or I guess you could say it's a game where he can win or lose. Not so much a competition between you and the genie.
Shryke Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 it managed to get Ian Curtis, Matt Cauthon, Cersei Lannister, Joe Hisaishi, but i stumped it with Robert the Bruce when your mind works against you - fight back with substance abuse!
