Is that suppose to give the performer satisfaction?? Or 'improve' the beauty of the female body?? Either way it sounds pretty sick and I wish I never asked for a description.

European & japanese cars are ten times more efficient and ecological than american cars. SUV's are nightmare of enviromentalist.

EU and japanese populations are also much more co-located than in the US. as a result, it is much easier to implement mass transit (that actually works). living in a city is not always possible in the US. most japanese, OTOH, live in or very near very large metropolitan areas. it is very easy to justify small cars in such places since they don't need them for much as we in the US do.

weather in the US varies wildly as well, ranging from desert, to beach to mountain terrain also with significant snowfall in areas not otherwise in the mountains. these terrain differences are separated by hundreds if not thousands of miles to boot.

in COS, it is insane to NOT have an SUV. it has snowed nearly non-stop that past 2 months. going anywhere other than denver or pueblo from here requires mountain travel, and depending upon your hobby of choice, significant off-road travel as well. i'd like to see any of you so-called environmentalists get up timber hill in a 40 mpg car.

you're naively comparing apples to oranges.

That still doesn't justify usage of SUV's and similar monster cars in city/suburban and similar areas. Who the **** thought that civilian humvees was a great idea?

Extremely true.

The SUV's are not really the issue, you can clearly make fuel efficient SUV's. The issue is that the oil companies do everything they can to resist progress. That's their business. They make huge money selling gas, and so they spend a chunk of it buying up technologies that threaten their business.

A 1988 CR-X could get 50 miles to the gallon.

But the fact is the oil companies have no real reason to support progress. They aren't going to put themselves out of business.

Exactly. I only used SUV as an example, same problem with efficiency seems to be with all of your cars when compared to european ones.

Your goverment is horribly enslaved by lobbyers of companies. Was it victuals, oil or anything. "Baww we don't like this you must change this" play with ompanies is much worse than catering down the damn conservative christians. Stupid mucks, they have far too much power compared to their numbers.

It hadn't had any effect in nordic countries, so doesn't matter! :p

Check the latest news. The HEX index and the Scandinavian index has gone down rapidly the last two days. I don't think that we're heading for another deep recession like the one in the beginning of the 90's yet, but seeing the american fed constantly lowering the interest rate just seems like a short-term solution. And the ECB, Bank of England and Bank of China are just continuing to buy more dollars to keep the currency somewhat stable, isn't a good long-term solution either.

What i only see so far, is that more bandages have been added to the wound, but no measures to heal it.

Oh... :)

Yeah, let's make it so you can't buy an SUV unless you can prove that you will need to use it every day. Also, the part about all American cars being worse than European and Japanese cars is completely ridiculous in this day and age. Half the freaking car companies are in some sort of partnership with eachother, for example Diamler Chrysler, or they've got parts made by other companies. It's just a stupid stereotype that started years ago.

Come on now, Pixie Stick. The average American car is less efficient than the average Asian car. Don't know about the Euro autos. Don't pay much attention to them. Personally I like to see the average miles per galleon be up around 80 to 90 range. Of course American autos have been kicking and screaming against even going 35 MPG.

An American car spends much more than an equivalently sized European or Japanese car. It's a question of market demands.

It's funny how these things work. Behind the sceenes the big credit companies are so interconnected, everyone owes everyone, that if we have a few bankrupcies among major bank and loan firms the whole financial sector could come crashing down like a house of cards, as the estimated value of their loans plummets to nothing.

The european economy has been going from strength to strength these last years though, and there are no indications the European central bank is going to follow suit and lower the rates, quite the opposite they are still worried about inflation as a result of over heating.

It would be so hilarious if world's only superpower would collapse due to their inability to handle loans in its apartment/property/whatever business

Nice to know that the economic collapse of our country would give you a giggle. Amazing how your celebratory hat :shifty: turned into a :shifty: when you learned that countries in your corner of the planet were also being adversely affected. Enjoying the misfortune of others is not a particularly nice trait. Enjoying it out loud on an international forum is not a particularly smart trait.

Toyota and Honda are huge sellers in the USA. Toyota and Honda also make several lines of trucks and SUV's. As has been explained before, there are considerable differences living in a vast country which is more rural than urban which makes vehicles capable of ferrying more than four people at a time in wildly different weather extremes more of a necessity than a luxury.

If America goes into recession it is unlikely to affect Australia widely. Recession is defined as two quarters of negative GDP growth, I think. Australian GDP growth given an America recession is estimated to fall to +2.75%.

From a purely pragmatic perspective, however, I would prefer America remain a superpower, as they are Australia's biggest military ally. Y'know, given the "if you go to war, we must go to war with you" pact (ANZUS). It's why Australia joined in Iraq. I would much prefer it be America to Russia, the EU (so stagnant) or China.

Oh yeah, SUVs are totally useful!

No really!

I mean it!

There are so many reasons why they are a must-have!

And only people who really need them have them!

Ok, my country may be an extreme case of SUV and "sports" car use (I mean, the terms SUV and sports car alone already imply their uselessnes), but I think there's a global trend to buy these overly heavy, high air and/or roll resistance, dangerous to smaller vehicles, pedestrians and cyclers, type of cars. I have no idea what this has to do with the stock market (which here currently is wildly fluctuating - chance to make big money, or lose it all, if you're stupid enough), but it's always a fun theme to discuss

It's just SUVs, all the different types of cars sold in America consume more than cars sold in Europe and Japan.

USA

UK

Note that the figures in the UK page are in imperial MPG so the difference isn't quite as large as the figures might indicate at first. There's still quite a difference, of course.
