Child of Flame Posted August 14, 2004 Posted August 14, 2004 Well, I guess that means no more dodging the filter. Damn.
mkreku Posted August 14, 2004 Posted August 14, 2004 Trolling: Trolling is defined as negatively-charged, disruptive, inaccurate, inflammatory and/or outrageous posting behavior, often meant only to insult, disrespect or hurt others. Trolls (users who post in this fashion) will be subject to immediate censure or banning. Obsidian wishes to maintain a positive, respectful community; those seeking to hurt or damage our community are not welcome here and are subject to censure or banning. Uhm.. I wonder how many of us would still be here if this rule was enforced.. Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!
Janmanden Posted August 14, 2004 Posted August 14, 2004 I would still be here, but I think I would leave soon thinking the forum was dead. All alone... Would have thought this would have been a 'locked' topic, so I guess it sort of emphasize the inconsistencies in some way. I like that, honestly. (Signatures: disabled)
EnderAndrew Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 Typing up new guidelines was probably a good idea.
Youko Bazuttu Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 Hopefully the Moderators will do their job and the forums will be clean. Sadly, most of the time that is not the case... <_<
The Guildmaster Posted August 19, 2004 Author Posted August 19, 2004 We're definitely working on it -- I wish you could see how many messages have been put into our post gulag in the past few days
Kyoku Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 Just redid my sig ... looks cleaner, and is within the pixelmax <_<

"Your total disregard for the law and human decency both disgusts me and touches my heart. Bless you, sir." "Soilent Green is people. This guy's just a homeless heroin junkie who got in a internet caf
Craigboy2 Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 They just seem the strictist rules that i ever seen on a forum except lego.com "Your total disregard for the law and human decency both disgusts me and touches my heart. Bless you, sir." "Soilent Green is people. This guy's just a homeless heroin junkie who got in a internet caf
Phosphor Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 I think they're extremely fair and rational. There's nothing strict about them, unless you happen to think you should be allowed to behave any way you see fit without repercussion. In which case, I don't think it's the guidelines that are the issue.
EnderAndrew Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 I think there is a difference between strict and well-defined.
DarkOne Posted September 4, 2004 Posted September 4, 2004 I give the thumbs up for the new Rules. Can't the signiature image have smaller max size. Currently sigs eat up a heck of a lot of the screen realestate, leaving little space for actual content. Also disable font size change in the signatures, which also eats up realestate.
Hydrogen Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 I give the thumbs up for the new Rules. Can't the signiature image have smaller max size. Currently sigs eat up a heck of a lot of the screen realestate, leaving little space for actual content. Also disable font size change in the signatures, which also eats up realestate. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> We can't limit the size by the program, so it tends to be up to the people being good, or the moderators requesting people shrink their sig images. Sometimes people are willing to do this, but many of the responses I get have to do with the fact that the user doesn't know how to. Often times the user will find a different sig, but sometimes they are really attached to the one they found.
Phosphor Posted September 10, 2004 Posted September 10, 2004 You can also disable signatures in your profile, so you don't have to see any of them. Still, I do try and get people to reduce the size whenever I see gargantuan sigs.
zer"0" Posted September 11, 2004 Posted September 11, 2004 Hmmm.... Well I don't like censure, but I can understand the logic behind your reasoning. I guess I can either adapt or leave. :looks around: and I wouldn't like to leave now that I'm just starting to get comfortable. Peace Out
Retnuh Posted September 22, 2004 Posted September 22, 2004 I guess some of the posts have been getting out of hand, esspecially since the release date was anounced. All in all, this seems like a pretty tame forum. But, if new/more rules are needed....then thats fine. B)
Judge Hades Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 As long as we can give honest opinions on things I don't have a problem with them. :D
Drachir Shonthar Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 Can people publicise outside sites they belong to in there signatures I see nothing in the rules about this. and also as an admin on 2 sites I feel the rules are fine and by no means strict there is no reporting needed for one thing.
Phosphor Posted November 27, 2004 Posted November 27, 2004 As long as the links don't go somewhere questionable (ie porn, illegal warez, etc) then links in signatures are fine. I'm not sure what you mean by no reporting being needed though. Here, it's an invaluable tool.
Maria Caliban Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 The rules aren't strict. It's just most people rarely read the rules and many forums don't enforce their rules completely. The forums might be swarmed in the next few months with newcomers and I can appreciate the moderators feeling the need to 'buckle down'. I hope that we can keep the light touch moderation I've become comfortable instead of Obsidian having to come down hard on the boards because a minority of members can't act in a mature manner. Just in case it comes up later, would my avatar be considered "pornographic, indecent or otherwise inappropriate?" "When is this out. I can't wait to play it so I can talk at length about how bad it is." - Gorgon.
Phosphor Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 Just in case it comes up later, would my avatar be considered "pornographic, indecent or otherwise inappropriate?" <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nope. I classify it as "cool".
mkreku Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 Nope. I classify it as "cool". <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If I could find the frontside of that picture and use it as my avatar, would it still be considered cool..? Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!
Jugalator Posted January 2, 2005 Posted January 2, 2005 I doubt it mkreku. Anyway, guidelines look great to me. But then I'm not exactly the guy fighting for my rights to post garbage in forums, actually, I wouldn't object if rights for images in sigs were removed completely. I have yet to see what good they do besides consuming bandwidth and making posts longer. While disabling sigs is a solution for that, you may then miss useful links people making constructive use of their sigs have posted. But at least you're keeping an eye on their sizes so that's good.
