Trolling: Trolling is defined as negatively-charged, disruptive, inaccurate, inflammatory and/or outrageous posting behavior, often meant only to insult, disrespect or hurt others. Trolls (users who post in this fashion) will be subject to immediate censure or banning. Obsidian wishes to maintain a positive, respectful community; those seeking to hurt or damage our community are not welcome here and are subject to censure or banning.

Uhm.. I wonder how many of us would still be here if this rule was enforced.. :)

I would still be here, but I think I would leave soon thinking the forum was dead. All alone... :)

Would have thought this would have been a 'locked' topic, so I guess it sort of emphasize the inconsistencies in some way. I like that, honestly. :)

That's pretty strict but i'm guess we have to have strict rules.

I think they're extremely fair and rational. There's nothing strict about them, unless you happen to think you should be allowed to behave any way you see fit without repercussion. In which case, I don't think it's the guidelines that are the issue.

I give the thumbs up for the new Rules.

Can't the signiature image have smaller max size. Currently sigs eat up a heck of a lot of the screen realestate, leaving little space for actual content. Also disable font size change in the signatures, which also eats up realestate.

We can't limit the size by the program, so it tends to be up to the people being good, or the moderators requesting people shrink their sig images. Sometimes people are willing to do this, but many of the responses I get have to do with the fact that the user doesn't know how to. Often times the user will find a different sig, but sometimes they are really attached to the one they found.

Hmmm....

Well I don't like censure, but I can understand the logic behind your reasoning.

I guess I can either adapt or leave. :looks around: and I wouldn't like to leave now that

I'm just starting to get comfortable.

Peace Out

The rules aren't strict. It's just most people rarely read the rules and many forums don't enforce their rules completely. The forums might be swarmed in the next few months with newcomers and I can appreciate the moderators feeling the need to 'buckle down'. I hope that we can keep the light touch moderation I've become comfortable instead of Obsidian having to come down hard on the boards because a minority of members can't act in a mature manner.

Just in case it comes up later, would my avatar be considered "pornographic, indecent or otherwise inappropriate?"

I doubt it mkreku.

Anyway, guidelines look great to me. :)

But then I'm not exactly the guy fighting for my rights to post garbage in forums, actually, I wouldn't object if rights for images in sigs were removed completely. I have yet to see what good they do besides consuming bandwidth and making posts longer. While disabling sigs is a solution for that, you may then miss useful links people making constructive use of their sigs have posted. But at least you're keeping an eye on their sizes so that's good. :)
