I can't understand how can a gamer be totally unaware of the series. I mean, Fallout is not that old or something. Latest installment of the series is only 2 years older than the Diablo 2 which is still a very popular game among younger gamers.

What seriously surprised me was that poll about combat. "Turn-based" absolutely crushes other opinions.

 

Either:

A) There's huge amount of old skool players there when compared to others

B) "generic beth fanboy" is "better" person than is commonly thought

There's old skool there. Fallout with no TB just isn't Fallout.

And the worst part is those polls mean nothing to Bethesda.

Man, mkreku went all retro on me for no good reason. Oh well, who cares.

What interests me is that there seems to be just as much, if not more, unprovoked flaming of 'old Fallout fans' - or at least a version of a stereotypical old Fallout fan that exists in people's minds - as there is flaming of Bethesda and Fallout 3.

Probably because it's hard to defend the claim that Oblivion is awesome sauce as an RPG, so they go on the offensive instead.

Heh, Ive never even laid eyes on a copy of FO or FO2, much less played it.

Because the only ones I've been spotting there are Role-Player, Steve, and Aram.

Im the same name there.

Kiro-chan is there too.

I've got the same name there, but I've only made one post so far.

I don't like the icon-set that Bethesda use on their boards. It's hard to distinguish read and un-read threads.

 

BTW, 4000+ posts for the first day... Fallout fans have lots of things to say for sure.

I have the same name and I got so caught up in the flaming that I accidentally attacked Role-Player too! Sorry about that, I was trying to avoid "our own", so to speak.

 

But it's great fun though
