Last Friday I got my first MP3 player, and it has a 20Gig hard drive. This of course, has prompted me to turn my CD collection into MP3 files. I'm still nowhere near to filling up the thing, but already am I dreading the moment when I won't be able put more files in the player.

So far, this is what I've got on the player:

Amorphis - Elegy

Bob Dylan - Blonde On Blonde

Cake - Motorcade Of Generosity

Cake - Comfort Eagle

Cake - Fashion Nugget

Genesis - Selling England By The Pound

Grinderman

Iron & Wine - Our Endless Numbered Days

Iron & Wine - The Creek Drank Down The Cradle

Jimi Hendrix - Are You Experienced

Lauryn Hill - The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill

Led Zeppelin - IV

Metallica - Master Of Puppets

Moonspell - Irreligious

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - The Boatman's Call

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Let Love In

NOFX - Heavy Petting Zoo

Nouvelle Vague - Bande A Part

Nouvelle Vague - Nouvelle Vague

Ornatos Violeta - C

I've only got about 3.27GB worth of MP3's on my computer. I'm sure I've got some stuff on CD that I could transfer over but that 3GB is the stuff that is listened to most often.

On the MP3 player front, I have a 6GB iRiver H10 that I bought last Christmas. Works quite well for what I use it for. Physical size is almost perfect for me at just a little smaller than my wallet. Eventually I'll probably have to upgrade to something with more space, but I don't think that will be for a few years, especially at the rate that I collect music. :)

I have 19 gb worth of music (ca 5100 songs) .. some of the cds are no longer useable so I'm pretty happy about the fact that the first thing I do is put 'em on the computer.. I still keep them around for legal reason though.. :)

my mp3 player is only 512 mb though - but that's because I'm a cheap bastard who won't cough up the 200$ for a better model.. (why fix something when it's not broken I say) ^_^

It's Douglas Adams' fault.

Wow, you've all got more gigs of music than I have of memory on my computer.

Well I was trying to understand why pixies made such a silly comparison.

How about an equivalent one from me:

You guys have more GBs of music than I have on my Deus Ex[/i] DVD.[/i] ;)"

He made such a silly comparison, because he is pixies. Do you really need any more of an explanation than that? ;)

I have 120 gigs worth of music. Though only 20 of that is actually being listened to on a frequent basis.

And I still know people with much, much more than that. They're crazy.

I'm getting one of those terabyte external HD's once they come out. My curent 320 gb HD is crammed full. :shifty:

My MP3 directory on my computer is currently 12.7 gigs. I haven't converted most of my CDs to MP3 yet, I'm guessing that once I do, I'll have around 40-50 gigs.

237 MB, on Computer, plus whatever the Deus Ex 2 soundtrack is. I don't like mp3 players the memory is to small, head phones are annoying, and I like the liner notes. An opera goes for about 3 hours and takes 3 CDs, 1 CD is around 60MB. All of opus 8 (The Contest between Harmony and Invention :p )is 2 hours, another 2 CDs. My music collection is not very big either. (5 triple CD, 5 double, and about 30 single...30 of the good ones anyway)
