My trial was useless. I had to get Shandra to testify, and I couldnt persuade her to do it using any of the options. But there was no option to agree to let her NOT testify. The only option I had was to end the trial by telling Sand to take over.

Amazingly bad design by Obsidian.

Why you assume we is talking about trait 'cause we said we is looking at rolls?  that makes no sense at all.  Gromnir casts spell.  Gromnir looks at rolls down in window.  Gromnir sees that a greatsword that we had keen edge cast 'pon does not get an expanded critical threat range.  pretty damned straightforward.  am not looking at character profile sheet.  am looking (for the 6th time now) at the actual rolls.  kinda slow today?

Because Keen Edge adds the Keen trait to the weapon. So if Keen Edge isn't working, it's because Keen isn't working. I just tested this with three different weapons, and after casting the spell, if I check out the information on the weapon, they now have "Keen" listed. So if it isn't working based on looking at the attack rolls, then I wonder if the Keen trait itself isn't working.

and no matter how many ways you tries to figure out some way to convince us that casavir ain't killing grobnar, it ain't gonna do much good if we can plainly see casavir killing grobnar

Because I'm not trying to convince you that Casavir isn't killing Grobnar. You actually think I'm bold enough to tell you what's happening on your screen isn't actually happening?

If Casavir is killing Grobnar, I wonder if there is something actually wrong with your game. Because Casavir (nor anyone else) has ever started to melee attack anyone in my game, regardless of what friendly fire spells may or may not have hit him, on any difficulty level. And yours is the very first instance I have seen of NPC players actually targetting their own allies and attacking them with melee attacks.

I noticed in my first trial there was some obnoxious loud mouth that came in "defending" me.  I didn't know him, so I told him to piss off.  I don't think he showed up in my second playthrough.

Heh, you should have let him speak. Apparently, he was sent by

Axle

to aid you and he sure does a great job at infuriating

Torio.

:D You really missed a few awesome lines:

Venton: You should come out and down a tankard or two with us, by the way - Ambassador, is it? You look like you could be a little fun, you could.

Torio: This trial concerns Ember... please stick to the matter at hand.

Venton: Aye, I know where I'd like to stick my hand, I do.

Audience: Laughter

BTW, the way that guy speaks those sentences is simply priceless. Kudos to the voice actor. :)

LOL! NWN2 has got some great funny lines.

Actually, this is not bad design, just you missing an option. I asked Shandra once, politely, she declined. Being a chivalrous chap, I then told Sand not to press the issue. He made a rude comment to me (shocking, I know), but I finished up the trial on my own. Won, too, even without her testimony or Sand's wit.

I especially liked the little old gnome lady who runs one of the merchant stores in the docks. I know when she was brought into the room I couldn't help but do my best Sand impression. Oh gods no... laughing.gif

And you did the thief path? It may have been even funnier the other way.

If you do the City Watch path, you see her being shaken down, and if you interrupt she virtually insists on paying them--it's a sign of a her business propsering, she says. I'd been a pretty good guard up to that point, but I let her pay, then hit the thieves for a cut. An impromptu fine, I figured

In the trial Torio makes some comment about "Judging people by their actions," I thought I'd been spotless--then the gnome walks in, and I had the same reaction you did. How am I going to be able to explain *this*?!

Fortunately it was a decently written cross-examine, a little diplo skill and I managed to blunt her testimony.

It seems that I was the victim of some sort of bug. I told Sand not to press the issue but the trial did not move forward. I was still stuck with the same dialogue options with Shandra. Irregardless of whether this was intentional or a bug, it is still really bad design on Obsidians part.

Another bug Ive had is with the Blessed of Waukeen merchant in the docks - I didnt get the option to use Blessed of Waukeen on her and get the special items. What a waste of money this limited edition copy has turned out to be - now Im actually considering shelling out the money to buy another copy of the BG series.

It was a bug then, and an unusual one. You can stop Shandra from saying much - I picked it, since I always seem to get negative influence with her. Therefore it's not "really bad design". It was good design. It was just a bug for you. ROFL TOFL. Unless you're suggesting Obsids sat there and went "hey, let's make a bug for roshan's version that won't let him choose."

In my second playthrough I got Reylene in the trial - i hadn't found her in the first game, so I never got her in there. I also got the random "drunkard" who "testifies" - that was absolute gold. The trial was really well done, even if the evidences part was probably cut.

Is there supposed to be one in the docks too?!?

The one in the Blacklake district sure had a lot of expensive hardware. 100000+ gold coin items among them :-"

did anyone lose the trial ... if so what happens?  Just curious.

Good question.

What happens if the person who is fighting in your honor loses?

Game over. Been there, done that :">

It was nice of Qara to try though. Then I let my dwarf monk wannabe do it. Piece of cake

The game ends, just like any combat in which your entire party (in this case, your chosen guy) dies.

Just as I thought. I knew there was a reason why I let Khelgar the fighter do it for me. He's an ax/war hammer swinging killing machine.

Yeah, not bad for a tame dwarf

And it also solved one of his "requirements" to progress further with his personal quest.

I read on the NWN2 boards that there are 2 Blessed of Waukeen merchants and 1 Merchants Friend merchant. I think Reylene is supposed to be one of the bonus merchants, but Im not sure.

Supposedly the one at the docks carried the only vorpal weapon in the game, a falchion. Its too bad I didnt get it as I focused on falchions. I spent half the game with a plus 1 falchion.

This game has really tried to screw me in every way it can!

Nevermind. I remembered wrong, the one I was thinking off was in Port Llast (Haljal Throndor).

Interesting. As a knight I had Nya from Port Llast defend me, not the gnome lady.

And Dark Raven, you've modified your portrait a bit... kinda chilly?

Yeah I had Nya defend me also. Kinda strange doing her quest, me being a necromancer/pale master. :-

I was experimenting with my avatar and decided to stick with a PG rated avatar = no cleavage showing.

There are multiple female gnome merchants in the docks. Reylene is not the one that gives BoW items.
