metadigital Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 Well, as you demonstrated, it is immediately recognisable as a dance, so it is pretty useful as an archetype. OBSCVRVM PER OBSCVRIVS ET IGNOTVM PER IGNOTIVS OPVS ARTIFICEM PROBAT
Diogo Ribeiro Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 Pretty much all of it :/ I just tend to look at those kind of things like wasted opportunities to actually make a credible and solid fantasy gameworld. It's better to find sillyness that's an outcome of the settings' own elements that seeing developers shove pointless references like those in games *shrugs*.
Tigranes Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 But then, people who find funky haircuts, buying titles such as Arseface and sexxing up barmaids enjoyable in a game would find a YMCA dance hilarious. Tel Aviv Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 I didn't find the whole YMCA thing funny :/ <{POST_SNAPBACK}> the fact that you used the letters or what? I just thought it stupid funny that they randomly decided to put the YMCA dance in there as a tool <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The dance was included in the game? Man, I thought you'd strung some random gestures together to form the letters. Fables humor was meh. The first time you pelvic thrust a passer-by, sure its funny, but it ain't long before it gets bone weary.
thepixiesrock Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 I like the game, but don't find any of the stuff in it funny. mkreku Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Want more pictures? You got them! Still playing Silent Storm. Been messing around with the destruction models in the game and all I can say is that they're awesome. Let me show you some examples: This is an English villa, moments after the final battle has ended. Notice the missing floor tiles and the burning truck. Here's a better picture of the same villa, now with a bird's eye view. Lots of pieces missing. This is just a picture of a rag-doll effect I thought looked neat. He looks crucified ) This mission was cool. No soldiers, just a heavily booby trapped old ruin. This is before.. ..and this is after! Quite a difference. A mechanic shop of some kind. It was fully loaded with oil barrels and gas containers. Boom.. I love this game. I finished the Allies campaign on Normal difficulty and am now playing through the Axis campaign on Impossible. It's not really much more difficult, you just can't save in battles so if you screw up, you'll have to make heavy use of band aids and stuff. But it's much more fun and might even present a challenge sometimes. Like in THIS picture: You start the mission in a courtyard, surrounded by ten (or more) enemy soldiers. I ran like a gazelle into a tower, finished off a guy with two shots to the head and fled up a flight of stairs. Luckily they didn't catch up to me and when the picture was taken I was making my way through one of the upper floors, all the time being chased by aggressive soldiers. Every encircled ear on that picture is a soldier out to get me. Great fun! ) Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!

I can't count how many times that I died attempting to get into that courtyard. Always seemed to have 4 people standing right beside each entrance ready to full burst anyone who walked through. I ended up using an RPG to blow a hole in the wall near the corner and going through there. <_<
Hurlshort Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 I'm very excited that Jagged Alliance 3 will be using the SS engine. I'm not sure how the campaign will be, but at least we will get some awesome battles with our favorite AIM mercenaries.

Always seemed to have 4 people standing right beside each entrance ready to full burst anyone who walked through. I ended up using an RPG to blow a hole in the wall near the corner and going through there. <_< Well, I had 70 action points when I got to that mission. When the cut-scene of the betrayal had played and I was left in the courtyard surrounded by all those soldiers, I noticed that the guy who was supposed to go get the leader for me had gone into a tower on the left side of the courtyard. He left the door open behind him. So I put my character on full run and ran into the tower after him (while triggering a lot of interrupts which luckily only graced me). There's a staircase on the inside and a guy was blocking it so I had to shoot him before I could make it up the first flight. I had to get up a few steps because the Lieutenant who tricked me in the cut-scene was still in there, waiting with some huge machine gun. I survived that first round and the next round I took one step back down, got the Lieutenant in sight and finished him off with a couple of headshots (because firing from above apparently gives you a huge sight advantage). Then I proceeded to sneak through the second floor while being attacked from all directions, which is when the picture is taken, before I noticed how late it was in real life. Now I can't wait to get home from work to continue that mission. I'm especially pleased that I haven't had to reload it a single time yet! mkreku Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 I tried the Vanguard beta for a day. It was sooo boring I couldn't believe my eyes. It had none of the charm that made World of Warcract so attractive, even for someone like me who isn't really interested in MMORPG's. Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!
Hurlshort Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 I just can't get Vanguard to run stable at all. It looks beautiful, but whether I max out the graphics or keep them at the bare minimum, I get lag spikes like crazy. I even upgraded my RAM from 1 gb to 1.5, and the performance boost was negligible. Granted, they are running debug software during the beta. Luckily I get to try retail for three days before I actually have to fork over money.
