mkreku
I just watched that. I don't know why, but this game just doesn't seem capable of arousing my interest. I want to like it, but I just.. don't. Maybe it's the design choices.. the plasmids.. the focus on the incredibly lame "Big Daddy" in every video I've seen.. I don't know. I'm hoping my attitude will change later on though. Llyranor
The problem is likely that they haven't really shown us any new content since the very beginning (or at least since we've seen video footage). The clip wasn't bad, but it fails to show us what seems to potentially be the game's strength - a living breathing world in which you're free to interact with the world in meaningful ways (to what extent, we'll see - maybe it'll be an elaborate FPS at best, maybe more). It's a video, and the devs already planned out what they want to show us, so there's no real surprise there. I haven't been massively impressed with what I've seen so far, and I haven't played SS2, so I can't say I'm too excited about the game, but time will tell. Then again, I'm not that big a fan of sandbox games/'emergent' gameplay. Unless they pull it off incredibly well. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
Morgoth
Screw Gamespot and their exclusivity deals. I'm not gonna watch that tiny streaming video, I want the 400MB HD video for free. Like, NOW! Anyway, keep in mind that the "Hunt the Big Daddy" movie was shown back at X06 somewhere in October, so it's a little older, but should still be impressive.....Grrrr. Slowtrain
My thoughts exactly. I find the original location of the nazi research lab far more interesting. But, to be fair, when I was following Fallout's development, despite the fact it looked so cool, I had a hard time gettign really interested because the basic premise of finding a waterchip seemd too stupid to be interesting. In the end of course, that game became one of my favorites ever, so I'm not going to judge the plot of the story too harshly since its how the game performs as a whole that will determine whether I like it or not. Notice how I can belittle your beliefs without calling you names. It's a useful skill to have particularly where you aren't allowed to call people names. It's a mistake to get too drawn in/worked up. I mean it's not life or death, it's just two guys posting their thoughts on a message board. If it were personal or face to face all the usual restraints would be in place, and we would never have reached this place in the first place. Try to remember that. Pidesco
http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=74543 It's just a short teaser but, somehow I really liked it. I think it sets the game's atmosphere quite well. Morgoth
I wonder if that big daddy there is crying or laughing over something. karka
http://kotaku.com/gaming/keep-.em-coming/c...p?autoplay=true I am not interested in this game. Mainly because, I've never been a fan of games like SS2 or Deus Ex. But I want them to release Bioshock as soon as possible, so they can start to make more interesting titles like Freedom Force. I know this is odd...

metadigital
http://kotaku.com/gaming/keep-.em-coming/c...p?autoplay=true This REALLY looks like System Shock (which is a good thing). Even the preview trailer looks moody. I think this is going to be great. (Apparently there are some surprising plasmid body-mods that the player can find ... also there is a choice between killing the "little sister"s to harvest their Adam, or saving them (losing the Adam, but being rewarded by the female lead NPC, who was one of Mengele's children .) Morgoth
New podcast with Ken Levine. He's talking about the Little Sisters. There's also concept art. I didn't know they were sea slugs that mutated into "humans". That also explains their strange look. Edited May 23, 2007 by Morgoth Rain makes everything better. Pidesco
I listened to this a while ago. Apparently Little Sisters will be invincible, mostly to avoid controversy. So this is why the little sister wouldn't die in the "Hunting The Big Daddy" video. Edit:I don't think they mutated. The sea slug was just an early idea for a "little sister" type creature. Morgoth
Too bad, I kinda like the idea of Seaslugs turning into humans. Where the hell else would all the kids come from? Pop
So how are we supposed to harvest Adam from Sisters the evil way if they're unkillable? Join me, and we shall make Production Beards a reality!
Morgoth
There's no "evil" way to harvest Adam. You just do it. Just listening to the podcast, yes, the Insect is not a mutated Sister. Ken also mentions the player will be rewarded for not harming Little Sisters in some way. Rain makes everything better.
Pidesco
So how are we supposed to harvest Adam from Sisters the evil way if they're unkillable? Harvesting is the only thing that kills them. They're invincible during the course of normal gameplay. Example: You're fighting a Big Daddy and a Little Sister. If she gets in the way of a rocket launched by you, she will survive the explosion unscathed. However, if you go up to her after offing the Big Daddy, and do the harvest action, she instantly falls over dead. metadigital
The seaslugs were discovered by Dr Tannenbaum as having special regenerative powers, and were used to add said powers to humans.
