The lever was mimcing the firing of the death star.

Well, he may have been turning down the lights. But the gesture was stolen right from the Death Star firing sequence.

The lever thing definitely was a bit odd, but it was funny how he immediately brought the power back up when he realised the other guy saw what he was doing. :D
