Gorth Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 An experiment in non-linearity ? Most of them were no good anyway. It gives people a chance to rephrase and redo their posts. Really, how often do you get a second chance like that ? “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice.” - Albert Einstein
Tigranes Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 Probably because it was beginning to reach a new accelerative rate of degeneration. Oh well, it's not like we lost any good posts. Let's Play: Icewind Dale Ironman (Complete) Let's Play: Icewind Dale II Ironman (Complete) Let's Play: Divinity II (Complete) Let's Play: Baldur's Gate Trilogy Ironman - BG1 (Complete) Let's Play: Baldur's Gate Trilogy Ironman - BG2 (In Progress)
Fionavar Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 Obsidian is in the process of upgrading its servers. As a result, they are going to be faster, but admin is trying to get everything playing nice ... at the moment it seems they are using a backup that is about a week+ old ... Note: I hope you do not mind Monte Carlo, but I thought this was more suited to Suggestions ... The universe is change; your life is what our thoughts make it - Marcus Aurelius (161)
Darque Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 I hope the lost posts are recovered..... I had some good threads vanish
kefka Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 My entire account vanished! I just had to re-register.
ShadowPaladin V1.0 Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 That explains why the registered member counts almost halved overnight. I have to agree with Volourn. Bioware is pretty much dead now. Deals like this kills development studios. 478327[/snapback]
breakdancing negro Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 My entire account vanished! I just had to re-register. Was there some magic "cut-off" number that the admin had where if you had less than that number of posts, your account was cancelled?
The Guildmaster Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 No - due to a complex set of "technical issues" with our web hosting company, they weren't able to restore the latest backup. Needless to say, we will be taking a whole series of "proactive" steps on our end from now on so that doesn't get a chance to happen again.
roshan Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 i came here after an absence of slightly over a week and was surprised that there was nothing new around! well, this explains it.
tripleRRR Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 "technical issues" meaning? TripleRRR Using a gamepad to control an FPS is like trying to fight evil through maple syrup.
Nameless One Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 nearly a third of my posts had vanished...and it was the best third...all the time I spend creating these masterpieces...wasted...they didn't even say goodbye...they didn't take the time to lie...they are just gone...the internet is such a cruel place
Judge Hades Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 Oh well, technical glitches are bound to happen time to time. Its not that big of a deal to me.
Ronald Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 "technical issues" meaning? It was the web hosting company's fault.
Iolo Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 More than a third of my posts disappeared. Oh well hope this doesn't happen again.
Volourn Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 Do you people really give a hoot about your posts? If you want you can have all my lame ones. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
mkreku Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 Hmm.. I don't care about my posts (more posts = more geek) but it seems a lot of interesting threads just disappeared. Hope someone remembers them and re-posts them. Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!
Iolo Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 Do you people really give a hoot about your posts? If you want you can have all my lame ones. It's more the threads themselves then the number. Over time, the board will recover.
Volourn Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 Everyone knows the same topics will be covered repeatedly. Don't worry, your fave threads will retunr. And, most likely your most hated ones too. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.

Darque Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 Do you people really give a hoot about your posts? If you want you can have all my lame ones. Post count? nope could care less... I tend to get spammy so it's no big deal... I accept this as a disadvantage I was born with but some of those threads were good reading... now they're gone  And that's sad.
Tigranes Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 I think we lost about seven hundred one-smiley posts. Yup. Start crying. Let's Play: Icewind Dale Ironman (Complete) Let's Play: Icewind Dale II Ironman (Complete) Let's Play: Divinity II (Complete) Let's Play: Baldur's Gate Trilogy Ironman - BG1 (Complete) Let's Play: Baldur's Gate Trilogy Ironman - BG2 (In Progress)
Darque Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 I'm not sure what board you're following, but it can't be this one. B)
