How many soccer moms actually know how to put that on is my question... and how many of the children will be able to take it off...

Yay, another tool for bad parents to ignore.

True, but it's still going to deflect the blame away since steps are being taken to prevent people playing things they shouldnt.

Ours will most likely become players towards the end of this generation. Although they are too young to be "clever" like hunting around for 18 rated games. I dont see how any parent wouldnt find this good news.

For people who buy their own games and software, It's not going to make a difference anyway.

I have to agree with Volourn.  Bioware is pretty much dead now.  Deals like this kills development studios.

The kids will probably be able to work that parental control better than their parents could.

My thoughts are mirrored in ^ statement and the one I posted before...

"honey? how do I get this parental control off? I want to play Hello Kitty online!"

It'll never work, how many parents read a videogame console manual before their kids set it up? 90% of the parents out there won't know it exists.

Remember, most people who were playing videogames in the eighties and nineties are the ones who are raising kids right now. In a few years, even more parents are less clueless to new technology than before. My mom never saw a computer when she was young. I've had a computer since the very early eighties myself (ZX Spectrum 48k!). The myth that parents are unable to understand their kids toys is quickly becoming obsolete.

My mother used to be the computer techie for a Big Company (Nerco in Portland, OR) then ran the first computer store in the Portland Metropolitan Area. Now she still asks me or my brother on how to work things.

Just because a kid's parents knew how to work an Atari doesn't mean that they can work a PS3.

If you were born in the seventies you grew up with Commodore 64, NES, Amiga and Sega. The difference between working a Commodore 64 and Playstation 3 isn't that big, and it's probably easier to install and configure the PS3 than the C64.

Lots of my friends have Playstation 2's and kids, and they won't have any problems getting the PS3 safely configured for their offspring. The leap from a generation without computers to a generation with computers is a lot bigger than the leap from a generation with NES to a generation with PS3.

My parents just started playing Nintendogs. They also picked up pictochat pretty quick. I dont think a PS3 holds the same sorts of mysteries that a PC might although it's doubtful anything will get them involved. Revolution on the other hand , who knows.

I'm sure I'll have enough brain cells left at the end of this generation to keep my kids in check.

I'm 14, so my parents aren't exactly "in-tune" with videogames. Mainly they ask if there's any nutidy (violence isn't really an issue) in the games. I know my parents won't be able to configure the Parental Controls, the can barly tell the difference between a Gameboy and an X-Box.

Not the priorities I'd have if it was me. Ah well, each to their own.

What's funny is I'm not fat. In fact, I'm skinny. Though I am as healthy as cna be. Outside of being very ugly, and the common cold once in the blue moon I simply don't get sick."

In the past i've never had any problems with that kind of thing whatsoever, my parents never were actually bothered about the whole violence/gore and nudity thing, in fact they never seemed bothered about those kind movies either.

Having parental control is really quite pointless though, i reckon about 5 out of 20 parents who actually care about that have any knowledge of how to use a console anyway

It's usually the other way around in Europe , nudity not a big deal.

Yup, I'd rather risk that my kid see some breasts than a decapitation..

That's what I've been saying for the better part of 5 years.

Then again, I was twelve at the start of this campaign, and was frantically searching for a way to justify the vast number of porn sites my mom found logged in her Internet Explorer history folder. :">

Since then, I've learned. For instance, clear the history after every use and delete all cookies. :o Though it doesn't really matter anymore, and hasn't for a couple years now................................................

 I think I'm tired.
