I liked Toad, and Arcade was cool in a sort of quirky way.

Marvel somtimes does screwy things (Punisher/Archie xover comes to mind) but overall they are good. I wish they would explore the Mystique/Nightcrawer connection from the comics, in the games some.

Is this game better, worse, or the same as X-Men I?

Gamespot review : 8.1

Important cross-console variations:

  • If you're playing the PC version of the game, you'll get Pyro and Sabertooth right from the start as well.

  • Pertaining to online play : We did notice some major lag when playing the PlayStation 2 version online.

  • As for the different versions of the game, the PC version looks a bit sharper and more detailed than the rest, while the Game Cube version looks a bit more blurry than the others. The graphical differences between PlayStation 2 and Xbox are negligible.

  • You probably won't want to spend much time in the menus anyway, though, because they take a long time to load. It isn't nearly as bad on the Xbox and PC versions of the game, but on the PlayStation 2 you actually have to look at a load screen if you want to check the status of your party, and then look at another load screen to get back to the action. It's especially annoying, because in a game like this you want to be able to tweak stats or equip items quickly and easily.

I think I'll be getting the PC or XBOX version, as opposed to the PS2.

Is there multiplayer on the Gamecube version via the controllers, or is multiplayer only via internets this time around? (I ask because while the PC version sounds appealing and all, there is no highspeed internets out here. Also, why must the Gamecube version look worse than the PS2 version yet again? The hardware contains the power to pump out superior graphics, so how come it never does. :) )

All the versions have stand-alone multiplayer, and that's perhaps the best way to do it - with the exception of the PC version I suppose. :)

Also, PC multiplayer is broadband only, Eru my friend. So no-go in the snow for yo. :(

My computer bites ass, so I'm going to have to convince the old roomie to get it for his XBox.

I just know he's going to hold all this pestering him to get Xbox games I'm interested in (ie. Jade Empire) over my head when the XBox360 is released.

Toad is way cool. Atleast they didn't put Blob in there. And Forge really does have the most idiotically thought up mutant power EVER!

Uhm.. Actually, Blob is in the first X-men Legends.. Not sure which part you're referring to though.

Or theres always Callisto, who never actually demonstrates her mutation... other than saying "I'm A MUTANT!"

But I would like Forge's power, I could turn a toothpick into a nuclear reactor.

I think her power was to have incredibly outdated hairdos.

Well, you know, when you live in a sewer you don't have access to all the latest fashions....

Appearently Elf gets swords... at least in the ad they gave him a pair.

I know Blob was in XL1...I just meant im glad they didn't put him in XL2 as a playable character.

Kaftan: I meant otherwise.

And why do people hate Toad so much? He's extremely agile, his legs are pretty strong, he can jump extreme distances AND he has a 20 foot long tongue.

AND he has a 20 foot long tongue.

I bet he's popular with the girls.

No, he's the stereotypical netgeek, smells really bad, lack of care for hygeine, smarter than the average schmoe, but not smart enough for it to be worth anything. :-

Forge>Toad. But none can stand up to the awesome power of the Banshee!!

...gets treated like sh!t, and the only reason Magneto keeps him around is so that the other Brotherhood mutants can laugh at him. :(

well then why does he keep his son around? He hates Quicksilver... And banshee was cool during the 70's with the Xmen... Then he lost his power and married Moira.

Howard the Duck is in the Marvel Universe, but I think they left him out of the recent Marvel game.

Dazzler for the win. Especially the male version from some other timeline. Drag Queen of Light :D
