June 1, 200520 yr Stuff I like: http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/mp3/ Diablo stuff is the best (w00t) http://www.blood-sports.net/omf/omfmult/om...mf2097mus.shtml (There's also Mortal Combat music on that site) And my absolute favourite is: :D http://image.com.com/mp3/images/misc/icewinddale2_01.mp3 It's a bit too short for my taste though. I also like BG series music, NWN, Morrowind and...I can't think of any more right now.
June 1, 200520 yr Arcanum is probably number one - it's a refreshing surprise to find a string quartet in a computer game. http://www.benhouge.com/Arcanum.mp3 Morrowind was great, but repetitive. I hope Oblivion invests in a few more tunes. Even people who thought the graphics were outdated and the gameplay weak acknowledge that the music for Quest for Glory V: Dragon Fire was excellent. A special mention for the opera at the end of Gabriel Knight 2. This for me set the standard for how gripping the ending of a game should be. "An electric puddle is not what I need right now." (Nina Kalenkov)
June 1, 200520 yr Deus Ex had a pretty good soundtrack. Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!
June 1, 200520 yr Deus Ex had a pretty good soundtrack. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It did. Invisible War too, though they also used selected music from the 'Kidneythieves'. Final Fantasy VII had an epic soundtrack, as did Jade Empire. My absolute favorite though is PS:T. Wunderbar!
June 1, 200520 yr FF8, Arcanum, and NWN are my top 3. The IE games, FOs, JE, and other FF games come up in the second tier. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
June 1, 200520 yr Mark Morgan did a marvelous job both on Torment and F1/F2. I also love Michael H Rain makes everything better.
June 1, 200520 yr Author FF8, Arcanum, and NWN are my top 3. The IE games, FOs, JE, and other FF games come up in the second tier. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> FF8 music is downloadable on this site if you're interested: http://www.nvkz.kuzbass.net/fantasy/Music/Music.htm More FF stuff: http://www.ampcast.com/music/10899/artist.php And some KOTOR, though only really samples: http://www.gamebanshee.com/starwarskotor/downloads.php
June 1, 200520 yr Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross and Final Fantasy Tactics (all by the same Japanese composer, if I'm not mistaken). -edit- And I am mistaken. The FFT composer also did Vagrant Story's soundtrack, which was also great.
June 1, 200520 yr The Metal Gear Solid games, definitely. The Morrowind theme song is also pretty cool.
June 1, 200520 yr FF8, Arcanum, and NWN are my top 3. NWN had music? Anyway, my all-time favorite has to be TIE Fighter. Not only were the tracks great, it featured dynamic music that meshed with the action better than in any other game I have seen since. Some other games worth mentioning are SoA, WC1/2, and Half-Life. - When he is best, he is a little worse than a man, and when he is worst, he is little better than a beast.
June 1, 200520 yr The Metal Gear Solid games, definitely. The Morrowind theme song is also pretty cool. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, MGS too. I love that music.
June 1, 200520 yr Shadow Hearts. Shadow Hearts: From the New World sounds good as well (at least what's in the trailers)
June 1, 200520 yr It Life is like a clam. Years of filtering crap then some bastard cracks you open and scrapes you into its damned mouth, end of story. - Steven Erikson

June 1, 200520 yr I liked the music from American McGee's Alice. (okay, so the game ain't exactly new, but I still like the music) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> By Chris Vrenna aka Tweaker! Very good indeed.
June 1, 200520 yr 1000 thousand years from FFX-2 and Suteki da ne from FFX. I have to agree with Volourn. Bioware is pretty much dead now. Deals like this kills development studios. 478327[/snapback]

June 2, 200520 yr Monkey Island 2 was the pinnacle of adlib music imo, although I never played Tie Fighter (they are probably quite similarly structured since both are by Michael Land). In modern games, Icewind Dale takes the cake for its evocative score although I really like the Diablo 2 music. Deus Ex and System Shock had some great electronic music as well. Recently the only music I have really appreciated is the tune in World of Warcraft that plays in Westfall among other places, it reminds me of The Wicker Man for some reason. We now bring you live footage from the World Championship Staring Final.
June 2, 200520 yr Torment of course. The Longest Journey has a nice score as well. Icewind Dale has a very lovely soundtrack. And for remixes, FFVI would probably be my favourite.
June 2, 200520 yr Final Fantasy VII, VIII, X Soundtracks Baten Kaitos KotOR 1&2 Deus Ex Unreal Old Lucasarts adventures like Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Grim Fandango etc... I still don't understand what's so great about the Jade Empire's soundtrack, the title-track and the hymn of the waterdragon where the only ones standing out. The rest was the same that you can find in a Tai-Chi-video.
